5/8 : radio

@br00m

@inzhener_zemli Today we are going to talk about the main Asian crust punk and harsh noise provider - Indonesia. Cultural diversity spread out all over the country - for example, experimental and traditional music appeared on the Java island and the main representatives of industrial and noise music are concentrated in Sumatra and Borneo. In the 5th episode, Inzhener Zemli is talking about the res...

@UNKNOWN-MOBILE We want to closure the pause from in previous week using the mix of Unknown Mobile and play it on air tonight. It's a musical project of Levi Bruce, currently based in Montréal and Ottawa). He has recently released on labels SOBO and Pacific Rhythm.

@po-kaifu Aman Po-Kaifu returned after his summer wanderings and first of all clung to his Magic Lamp. He yearned for his sweet, viscous tunes, magic spells, and conjured for us an hour and a half of an intoxicating oriental groove from the intricacies of dusty rarities, fragrant novelties and incorruptible truths.

Oleg Selivanov wasn’t on air for sixth months and now he is coming with a new episode, which means a lot to our 5/8 : team. This summer we attended some festivals and the most perfect for us were Melt and Signal. We tried to remember the best things we’ve heard for this episode. And also we understood that our souls were trapped on the dancefloor where FJAAK, Ross From Friends and Four Tet played...

Soviet-era rave in the Palace of Culture of Communications Workers located in Leningrad, techno from the former keyboardists of the cheesy synth-pop bands, underground club in the empty communal apartment, stealing lamps from the facades of the Saint-Petersburg’s buildings, DJ sets on the cassette recorders, Laurent Garnier right in the Krylatsky cycle track, offended opera singer and the legendar...

@bonniespacey Inspired by the musical curiosity of her guitarist father, who never ceased rocking her with Jimmy Hendrix, this French woman perfected her musical culture by practicing guitar and the piano for years. She discovered electronic music in at the beginning of the millenium: it is love at first sight. For 10 years, she skims the dancefloors of many clubs and festivals and it is finally i...

@strawbbjamz Strawbb's mix for 5/8 : Radio is an affectionate snapshot of Vancouver summertime. Think salty swims, zippy bike rides, night clouds and lots of giggly dance parties with friends. She's just starting out and can not yet boast famous names, labels or clubs, but we like her selection without it.

@etari @yellowislandrecords The EP "Healing Herself" by Etari will be released soon on the Brazilian label Yellow Island Records (btw, she started off the mix with a bit of a showcasting her very own track called "Just Breathe" which will be released on this EP). In general, this girl's name is Lexi Andre, she is a music producer and a DJ in Los Angeles. In addition to her ureleased track, Lexi sh...

@samaya_sablouny @inzhener_zemli told about Lebanon's music in the very first issue of his own podcast. And recently we met Samaya Al Sablouny, another one representative of Lebanon's electronic music. She is studying to become a clinical psychoanalyst in Beirut and of course she plays music. You can find her mixes by her nickname Cielmusic.

@frrra Listen the mix of Frrra in the new issue of podcast OUTSIDER x @welofi. Previously, he had only one project - OKOLO POLUDNYA, where he still makes a new wave, sings and plays. But several years ago he went to the NII, Кругозор and and further down the list. He became interested in electronic music, he has made that journey of transformation from ableton to hardware, and now he is simultaneo...

@hermeth After two albums under his former alias Lacrema, with which he explored a very synthwave side of electronic music, Hermeth now goes much more into electro sounds under his new alias and in his very first EP, "In A Huff", released in January 2019. Drawing inspiration from Shinra's melodies, the power of Jensen Interceptor and the gritty style of DJ Assault, his debut EP is a reflection of...

@aleksandrl Alexandr L is the founder of the Electric Shapes from Vilnius. His friend Marco Lazovic said that Dj is a person who plays on vinyl and everything else is a bullshit. Alexandr L doesn't play on vinyl. He just likes to share the music. He has his own vision of the sound and combination of different tracks. He can't stop wondering that the music has no boundaries.

@po-kaifu For the anniversary issue of Magic Lamp, Aman Po-Kaifu flew around the world in the search of exquisite and rare musical ingredients. Using hidden alchemical symbols, forbidden witchcraft rituals, arcane spells and rhythmic vibrations, he creates an elixir of bliss and love. At this time the elixir turned out to be especially strong and resistant.

@regcooper And again we're going to talk about the DJ from Melbourne. A part of the local nightlife for years, Reg has been playing in bars and nightclubs for half a decade now. His music ranges wildly, with left field house, electro, garage and ambient all featuring prominently. He is adept at balancing hooks and eclecticism and has a knack for understanding pop sensibility and working a floor. B...
