2 Fast 2 Forever: The Fast and Furious Podcast

Happy Fastivus! On this date in 2001, the original The Fast and the Furious hit theaters, changing the world forever. Eighteen-and-a-half years later, we hopped on board. Today, we mark the release of the original movie’s release by celebrating Fastivus, coined by @ReactionRocket, with a reading of original poetry (written by Wes Hampton) and unveiling the inductees into the 2 Fast 2 Forever Hall...

It's another Life in the Fast Lane, and we've got "some drivin' for your ass! That's some drivin' for your ass!" We crack open the mailbox at 1327 to welcome in some new listeners and new patrons, and we receive a couple sets of new rankings. We work our way through some more Fast X reactions and thoughts and theories, wonder once again "what, exactly, makes a vehicle?", and atone for once again d...

We're hopping in Uncle Jakob's cannon car and picking up Jessica Collins, a.k.a. Montez, to talk about Fast X! Montez somehow managed to go into this movie almost completely unspoiled, and she joins the show to share her favorite and least favorite moments and where she thinks we head next. We get our final Montez Minute until Hobbs comes out and admire Fast X's version of her titular segment. Joe...

We're kicking it WAY old school this week as Tobin Addington drops by to give us a little bit of film history as we discuss The Arrival of a Train at La Ciotat! In what's quite possibly the first vehicle ever captured on film, we talk about the Lumiere Brothers' methodology in capturing this shot, the many iterations this film has seen throughout the years, and whether or not Dominic Toretto and t...

We’re keeping the Fast X hype train going by crossing over with X is for Show, featuring Nico, Kevo, and TK! After our brief intro, this episode is the audio version of the most recent episode of their video series, which you can watch in its entirety on YouTube. After taking a trip down memory lane to reminisce about Spy Racers, we dive into Fast X to get TK’s take on moving from the early films...

We’re kicking off Lap 13 by welcoming in Saleah Blancaflor of Morning Consult to talk about The Fast and the Furious — her first F&F film! Before we head back to 2001, we talk with Saleah about Morning Consult’s favorability polling around the Fast & Furious franchise and the reasons fans most flock to these films. We unveil our new lap questions and conversation starters, share our biggest takeaw...

We're celebrating Episode #300 by bringing back Heather Antos to talk about Fast X, which she says (gasp) may be her favorite F&F movie! We talk to Heather about her favorite moments in Fast X, get her take on the structure of this movie, and find both her hopes and fears for the next installment in the franchise. We play a Fast & Furious game inspired by a clickbait article from Polygon. Heather...

It’s probably our longest Life in the Fast Lane yet, but that’s because we’ve got a whole lot more Fast X to talk about! After wondering why we don’t get sports cameos in the Fast & Furious movies, we open an all-timer of a mailbag to find out what Fast X looked like in December 2022, to make Death Proof part of F&F canon, and to hear a wild theory about what F&F 11 could be. We also read emails a...

We’re still riding the high of Fast X (in theaters now!), and we’re bringing in “resident historian” Mike Manzi (Uncle Francis’s Wine Cellar) to keep things going! Mike shares his favorite parts, his thoughts on a Roman/Tej/Ramsey/Han (?) spinoff, and the characters he wanted to see return (but didn’t). We share a fan theory about Jakob’s cannon car, continue to debate whether or not Dante is the...

The road to Fast X continues (even though the movie is already here, shh) with the Jason Momoa-starring and directed (!) film Road to Paloma. After establishing our Fast X limbo, we talk about Momoa's history behind the camera and his sole goal in making this movie (which totally subverted our expectations). Joe notices a major Rocknection in Road to Paloma and connects with Cash, the movie's dirt...

At long last, Fast X is here. We saw it last night (and so did you), and now it's time to talk about it... in full spoiler-filled detail. We dive right into the discussion to talk all about "the end of the road" (even with a lot more road to come), Jason Momoa as Dante, Brie Larson as Tess, the connections to past movies, what's coming next, and much, much more. We're talking about our favorite pa...

Once again, our podcast title feels especially appropriate; we’ve seemingly waited forever for Fast X. At long last, it’s here! Go see it! As usual, we’ve recorded this live from the movie theater parking lot to provide a very quick immediate reaction about Fast X. Now, we’re headed home (a quarter-mile at a time) with plans to record a spoiler-filled review tomorrow night. Go see Fast X, email yo...

The wait is almost over, and Fast X is almost here. We’re taking a moment to get (even more) excited about the newest Fast & Furious movie! Before we dive into our Fast X preview, though, we talk about an underwhelming episode of Top Chef (that was “Fast and Furious themed”) and announce that the ballots are open for the 2 Fast 2 Forever Hall of Fame voting. We also chat about some Fast X news, in...

The race toward Fast X continues as we take another Life in the Fast Lane pit stop in Return of the Lance! We’re still in our #FastX era, and our mailbag (plus Twitter threads) is basically all hype for the movie. We try to imagine a Dom/Vin-free F&F world, wonder why there aren’t any F&F shows like the ones the MCU has on Disney+, and debate whether or not we “need” to see characters die. We also...

We're officially entering our Fast X interlude era and previewing Brie Larson's role of Tess in Right on Track, the 2003 Disney Channel Original Movie! We lament the lack of Brie Larson in this movie (oops), reflect on entertainment for kids, and explore the director's wild filmography. We also wonder, should we have covered this? Why is there so much volleyball in this movie? Are there any barrie...

We’re closing out our Vin Diesel lap and welcoming in Lap 13 in our mechanic-prescribed Lap 12 Tune-Up / Relap / Recap. Jessica Collins (a.k.a. Montez) is here for the full episode for her Lap 12 swan song. With nothing to recap, is there reason for the Montez Minute? Regardless, she goes full South, reflects on the franchise, and takes the character quiz (again? or for the first time?). We all sh...

NO KNEES DENISE SOLVED?! It’s another installment of Life in the Fast Lane, and we’re entering (sort of) The Furious Garage with a question: “Alright, dorks, what are we blowing up?” We open a mailbag to talk about a possible return of Gisele, Joe Manganiello vs. Vin Diesel, and Brie Larson’s purpose in Fast X as Tess. We also discuss what we want from Brian in Fast X and beyond, the release date...

We’ve only got a few Vin Diesel pit stops left this lap, and today’s takes us to a post-apocalyptic (?) wasteland (?) in Babylon A.D. We talk about the muddied behind-the-scenes backstory of this movie, Vin Diesel as “Toorop,” and the absolute lack of dedication this movie shows toward coherent world-building. We talk about the contention between Vin Diesel and director Mathieu Kassovitz, Vin’s mu...

It's the end of an era. At long last, Montez is finally caught up on the Fast franchise, having seen F9 and all other Fast movies so far. After working our way through another rousing edition of the Montez Minute, Joey and Joe discover that they watched this movie in pretty different ways, with pretty different mindsets. We talk about the relationship between Mr. Nobody and Tess. Montez shares a f...

With Young Rock moving to an inconvenient time slot, we decided to wait for its third season to fully wrap before we chatted about it. With the entire season now streaming on Peacock, we brought in Nate Milton (The Kings of Sport, POST Wrestling, The Lituation Room) as our resident "The Rock expert" to officially usher us into the Attitude Era. We review the wrestler portrayals, discuss the extent...

We're back with another Life in the Fast Lane, and we've got a big ol' mailbag -- including our longest bleep yet -- because Joey goofed on something a while back and only recently got his act together. We then head "On the Streets" to discuss whether or not we got a true insider tip, to learn (once and for all?) how to pronounce Fast X, and to break down the new Fast X poster. Joe shares some tho...

We only have a few more Vin Diesel pit stops left, but we've hit on something new: Find Me Guilty may be his biggest departure from Dom. Joining us to talk about this sort of comedy, sort of drama, sort of legal thriller is "fan favorite" Garrett Smith (Killer Bs). We talk about Find Me Guilty's unexpected connection to Los Bandoleros, how Vin Diesel landed the role, and how surprisingly (?) funny...

As we near the end of the Vin Diesel lap, it's time (once again) to talk about the Dominic Toretto-free Hobbs & Shaw. Jessica Collins (aka Montez) once again struggles through her titular segment, losing steam in the same spot as usual. We then wonder: is Hobbs & Shaw the least Dom movie? Do Dom's actions in F9 up-end what we select as the "most Dom moment"? Did Vin Diesel have any say in the maki...

It's time for another jam-packed installment of Life in the Fast Lane -- and this is a wild one. After cracking the mailbag and doing a lot of (needless) #MagicMics planning, we unveil that history has been made. We talk about the XFL, Vin Diesel at the NBA All-Star Game, and share an "update" on the status of the Letty-led F&F movie. Joe shares an Oscar roundup and a trash TV roundup. Joey shares...

Jordan Polan-Clarke returns to the show to talk about a movie she 100% picked, The Pacifier. After once again trying to decide where Mark Sinclair, Vin Diesel, and Dominic Toretto begin and end, we wonder whether or not The Pacifier actually caters to Vin Diesel's specific talents. Jordan re-names toddlers before questioning the level of violence on display. We talk about the weirdness of Brad Gar...
