Pottery and ceramics is one of the most ancient crafts transcending form and function, we interact with it on a daily basis and yet we seldom consider it. It can be as simple as coffee cup we use every day or as complex as an artists statue. In a time when many ancient crafts have gone forgotten pottery is alive and well and no place is that more true than in Justin Reeves’ Potter Ray Studio on Co...

Punk rock was born out of the Midwest in the late 1960s the disillusion of the Vietnam war mixed with an economic downturn left many feeling abandoned socially and politically. During this time Detroit bands such as Iggy Pop and the Stooges, MC5, and Death, would break through born out of blues rock but with more aggression and irreverence. Where many of the early punk bands incorporated a sardoni...

Sean Green is an artist but more than that he is a marketer and storyteller. The commercial side of art is often looked at as the dirty unspoken portion of the business, a true artist doesn’t think about the monetary value but does their work solely for the love of the craft. Sean Green makes no bones about it, he does his work to sell. Not to say he does not love what he does or he is unskilled n...

A common criticism of abstract art is the often muttered “My child could make this..” This turn of phrase points out the ignorance of the critic more often than the lack of skill of the artist. When composing a realist piece of art the artist must consider proportion, balance, contrast, color, and weight. All these aspects must work in harmony to create a visually pleasing work of art, each aspect...

Coffee is a revolution it is the substance that pushed the western world through the industrial revolution, It has been the subject of conflicts, and it has been the center of community and conversation. King Charles the 2nd banned coffee houses in 1675 in fear that conversations between the lower classes would lead to dissatisfaction with the ruling class. But weather it is across a kitchen table...

In today's world it is next to impossible to run a business or gain attention to a project without the use of social media. However social media has its own pitfalls in our personal life let alone when one is trying to run a business whilst keeping media engagement. That is where Katie Krier and Savanna Loy come in. Krier and Co. is a different kind of marketing company employing a different philo...

Many people get deterred when someone speaks about the spiritual when discussing the psychological. Most people seem to labor under the belief that somehow we can break down the human experience and emotion into the completely rational. Unfortunately that is about as useful as trying to define art which ultimately leads you down the road of the spiritual. We apply value to music, dance, poetry and...

Fashion has always been circular with previous styles inspiring the clothing and architecture years later. Consider how the architecture of Greeks and Romans inspired the neoclassical era of the 1700s, or how the 50s style became popular in the 80s. Typical its a form of nostalgia that inspires what is popular in fashion,The grunge era was a return to the 60s and 70s attitude of rebellion but also...

The Treachery of Images by Ren’e Magritte is a seminal work of the Surrealist Movement, a simple painting of a tobacco pipe with the words in french underneath “This is Not a Pipe”. The message of the piece is simple “This is Not a Pipe” but rather a representation. The whole world of art revolves around the idea of representation. The Realist’s work aims to represent the art in the most realistic...

Love is one of the driving forces in our lives, everyone has a deep need to be loved, we all seek companionship and our greatest narratives revolve around the search for love and the longing for acceptance. From the Bible, to Napoleon Dynamite, the stories that keep us entranced revolve around that concept. What is a life but the grandest of narratives and if so then Anita Mcelroy is the guide who...

Thank Everyone for all the support over the last couple of years! It has been so incredible meeting all the amazing Unordinary People and I thought what better way to celebrate than to have back the lady who started it all Dace Kidd. Dace is a classically trained Latvian American artist who is at the center of Tyler's art scene, beyond that she is an incredibly open and gracious interview. So...

A little disclaimer before the video. This video was originally recoded back in the winter of 2023  after the suspect of the Dallas Zoo monkey theft was revealed to be my brothers former classmate Davion Irvin. A character my brother had already told be several stories about that only added to the absurdity of the whole ordeal. At the time we did not release the episode not wanting to interfere, o...
