Book Boyfriend

A week of betrayal and morally dubious choices, all of which we can justify in the text but you’ll have to listen to see if Josh buys in to the reasoning. This week we cover chapters 20-25 and Josh gives some fun nicknames to incredibly powerful characters. For next week we are reading chapters 26-31 if you want to read along, otherwise thank you for listening! If you or someone you know has been...

This is potentially Josh’s most problematic episode to date, which is impressive given that he aims to say only offensive things. Join us as we talk through chapters 16-19 where we get re-established with the Inner Circle and get to see some developments in some relationships between the crew. For next week we are reading chapters 20-25 if you want to read along, otherwise thank you for listening!

We finally get to travel around Prythian a bit, even if Lucien and Feyre prefer vacations like we do, which is to say with exactly zero relaxation, so when you end up back home you are thoroughly exhausted. Join us for a summary of chapters 11-15 of A Court of Wings and Ruin where Josh gets excited about the cinematic potential of the series! For next week we are reading chapters 16-19 if you want...

Feyre has successfully done a spy and we have successfully moved through Part 1 of the book! Josh finally gets the brutal on screen deaths that he craves and loves every second of it, join us while he gives us a summary of what happened in chapters 6-10. For next week, we will be reading chapters 11-15 if you want to read along. Otherwise, thank you as always for listening!

Welcome back for season 3! We are excited to be back, and Josh is appreciating ACOTAR so much more now that he has experienced Psycho Shifters. This week Josh tells us what happened in chapters 1-5 of ACOWAR and somehow Pitch Perfect comes up repeatedly. Next week we will be continuing with chapters 6-10, thank you for listening, we will see you next week!

Unhinged doesn’t begin to do this book justice, join us as we talk over the whole book with less accuracy than normal. Adele does the summary this week and Josh is just along for the ride and there to fact check her when she misses important details. If there is one positive, Josh walks away with a great appreciation for ACOTAR. Let us know what our next Smut Quest book should be in the comments!...

As Josh points out in this episode, we were apart while he was at work so technically this counts as a reunion… even though it’s the exact same people as all season. Also, we recorded this a week ago so it isn’t “live” in the traditional sense but Josh did his recap without any notes, so that is about as close as we get. Leave a comment with a sentence we won’t understand until after we read Psych...

It’s the last episode of content for the season! The King of Hybern is really living up to his big-bad energy and we are loving envisioning him as Matt Berry. Join us as Josh talks through the final scenes of the book and gets excited (trust me, he’s really excited) about book 3! Thank you for listening, we will see you next week!

After our brief sex break, we are back to plot, and we finally meet one of our main antagonists! Is anyone shocked that Josh likes the villain the most? Probably not, but listen along for some hot takes, terrible impressions, and questionable jokes. Thank you for listening, we will see you next week!

The sex is back and better than ever, and boy are we talking about it in depth. Join us this week to learn all about what actually happened in book 1 (surprise, it wasn’t what we thought) and more than you ever wanted to know about our sex lives. Thank you for listening, we will see you next week!

After all the buildup, we finally get somewhere in this episode! Even if it is only to second base, at least it is progress. We also get to see Feyre become Batman and save a helpless Rhysand, which is a nice, if hard to explain, change of pace. Thank you for listening, as always, and see you next week!

Another week, another profound insight on the emotionalneeds of these characters, while also finding a way to use the word “splooge” (you’ve been warned). This week we get to explore a little bit more of the backstories of some of our favorite characters and see a return of one of Josh’smost loved characters from the first book. Thank you for listening and see you next week!

This week we finally get to visit the Court of Nightmares, and Adele got to live her personal nightmare of trying to edit audio when Josh was moving all over creation during recording. So if there are any volume dips in the audio, blame Josh. Thank you for listening and see you next week!

Continuing with our marginally shorter sections, this weekwe visit the Summer Court and get our heist on. We also get to expand our cast this week, so make sure to listen for some new official casting decisions. We do need your help, pronunciation guide is far too clunkyof a name, so let us know in the comments what we should call it instead! Thank you for listening and see you next week!

The episode is under two hours, someone alert the media! Moving to slightly smaller sections in order to stop creating such intensely long installments. This week we are back in Velaris with the gang and we explore the dynamics and growth, and also talk about how Josh managed to attack himself in a Rage Room once. Thank you for listening!

Last 2 hour episode for a while, I promise. This week we get to meet the Bone Carver and the Weaver, Elaine finally gets a real casting decision and we singlehandedly make sure Ralph Fiennes is employed for the next decade. We cover chapters 16-26 in this episode if you are reading along, if you aren't, rest assured you will still be able to enjoy the book later since our summary only vaugely...

Another two hour long episode? Yes, Josh is getting heavily invested and has lots of thoughts to share. Things have started to get more tense between Feyre and Tamlin, and we get to explore more than just the penthouse of the Night Court. Join in and learn with medium-accuracy what happens in chapters 8-16 of A Court of Mist and Fury.

After an entirely unavoidable delay, we are back and jumping in to book 2! Josh is very excited to be back and has prewritten some jokes this episode, you tell us if that improved the quality (spoiler alert, it has not.) These episodes got way longer than intended but luckily this is a pausable medium, so enjoy over a couple listening sessions if you need to! Thank you for your patience and excite...

We were alive when we recorded it, so that counts as live, right? This week, we talk through a recap of all of A Court of Thorns and Roses (Josh's Version) and get prepped to jump into book two. We already have a couple of book 2 episodes recorded so those will be with you relatively soon. Thank you for sticking with us and can't wait to continue to share Josh's incorrect opinions. Sea...

This week, we pick back up under the mountain and face the trials and attempt to gain freedom with Feyre. Will anyone die? Will anyone learn from there mistakes? Listen to find out! One note on this weeks episode, there are mentions of sexual assault. We do make jokes centered on how causally the topic is handled, but to be clear, sexual assault is never a joke. If listening to content surrounding...

We are under the mountain this week, there are dangerous situations and questionable decisions, and we are here for all of it. Only one more episode left in the book, which is so exciting! Then we will do an episode recapping the whole season before we dive into book 2!

This is not me announcing a partnership with the insomnia medication of the same name, but Josh has some fun this week trying to map out what some of the couples in future books could be, we would love to hear if you agree.

Whether it’s our signature biting wit or a faerie indulging in some bizarre midnight munchies, this episode brings plenty of laughs, and probably too many sexual jokes. All of it, of course, is essential for helping boyfriends learn from the fictional men we adore.

Things start heating up in the book and Josh gets more invested, listen along to find out just how many holes are barred and how many errors we can make in summarizing this plot.

Did you think it was impossible for Josh to say more borderline offensive things? Well boy were you wrong. This weeks episode is full of hot takes (does listening to audiobooks count as reading?), words that Josh assures us are not a slur, and dubious recounting of chapters 8-15 of A Court of Thorns and Roses. Apologies that the audio is not the best quality, it was early days of recording and we...
