To EL & Back

Grab your dreidel and let's spin into the holiday season! Our season 5 finale takes us out of the Bible and into the book of Maccabees. We take a look at where the traditions came from and get the inside dirt on this classic Jewish tale.

Who was Eutychus? Why do we care? How do we pronounce his name? All these questions and more will be answered as Bael & Riff have a special 'All my homies hate Paul' episode!

The book of Ezekiel reads like a fever dream. Skeleton armies, UFO's, and disgusting bread recipies are just some of the fun in this book. Bael & Riff go behind the scenes to unpack some of the wilder tales as well as gain some insight into where this stuff came from. Hop in your 4 wheeled UFO and let's go!

Maybe you know the name, maybe you don't. Absalom is a fascinating bible figure with a story that reads like a Hollywood screenplay. Palace intrigue, orgies, murder, and amazing hair, this story has something for everyone. Join Bael and Riff as they pull back the curtain of this less well known but yet very relevant story.

It's hammer time. Sort of. Bael & Riff discuss the fascinating story of Jael and try to objectively analyze the details and answer the question, was she a hero or a villain? Join us for the tale that seems ripped straight from Game of Thrones.

Who came first? Who was more powerful? Who used bears to kill people? If you don't know the answers to these exciting questions, then this is the episode for you. Bael & Riff dig into the stories of these two prophets and shed some light on their often intertwined legacies.

The story of Esther is one of the most fascinating stories in the Bible. It's also not nearly as well known as it should be. This tale has it all. Palace intrigue, a beauty pagent, and lots of impalements. What more could you possibly want in a story?

Most people know the story of Jacob and his amazing technicolor coat, but do you know why he got the coat? Or what happened because of the coat? Or that his dad was a wizard? That his dad battled his father in-law who was also a wizard? Yeah, we didn't think so. Joing us for a rollicking tale of insane proportions. WIZARD FIGHT!!!!

Joseph and the coat of many colors. It's another well worn story. So well worn there's a Rice/Webber musical about it. As usual, the story everyone knows isn't even the interesting part. Join Bael & Riff as they unravel this tale and pull at the strings of thought about what the real story is here.

Joshua fought the batle of Jericho...or did he? Bael and Riff dive into this well worn tale and take a look at the history along with the fascinating tale of Rahab and the scarlet cord. Will the walls come tumbling down?

The guys tackle another story that's known far beyond religious circles. It's a story most people have heard of but are a little fuzzy on the details. Joing Bael & Riff as they dive into the Lion's Den and try to make sense of this oddball story.

It's one of the most famous stories in the Bible, the story of Job. Most folks know the basic details, but Bael and Riff are going way past all that. They're gonna dig deep and attempt to find some extra meaning in this tale of woe. EPISODE 50...wow

Season 5 is here!!! Bael & Riff are taking it back to the beginning with some stories you may or may not have heard from the bible. They start off with the story of Dinah. It's a story that's as murky as it is unknown. Why is it in the bible? What moral does it want to convey? Bael & Riff attempt to shed some light on this rather gruesome and certainly unenlightened tale of family dynamics gone wr...

THE SEASON 4 FINALE!!! We've taken a long look at a variety of topics that the Bible either does or doesn't weigh in on. Now it's time to take a look and see what happens when you FUCK AROUND AND FIND OUT! Thanks so much for listening and Season 5 will be here before you know it.

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth. We've all heard the phrase, but what does it actually mean? Bael & Riff take a look at the history of Capital Punishment in the Bible and try to see how that relates to the state of things today.

Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door! That's from the Statue of Liberty but what does bible say about immigration? Bael & Riff take a look.

Now that we know that God finds Government of some sort a necessary evil, what does he think about our chosen form? It's not quite as rosy a picture as the GOP would have you believe.

The fellas continue to dance on land mines with another controversial topic, Capitalism. Does the Bible think that supply side policy is the way of the Lord? Bael & Riff dive in and try to make sense of good book's idea for a "godly" government.

Bael & Riff tackle another hot topic in this week's episode. Marriage is said by Christians to be an institiution ordained by God that is sacred above most things. Is that actually what the text says? The guys dive in to find the rather surprising answers.

If the previous episode didn't cover the most divisive topic in Christianity today, then this week surely will. In this episode Bael & Riff attempt to once again show what Jesus clearly stated that so many people seem to miss, that all are welcome in his kingdom. Keeping with their mantra of 'Sola Scriptura' the boys take on the bigots and show that 'for God so loved the world' doesn't contain any...

Bael & Riff dive into one of, if not THE most divisive topic in Christianity today. The boys get all SOLA SCRIPTURA up in this b**** and settle once and for all the issue of the Bible's teachings on homosexuality. HINT: If you're a bigot then you're not going to like this episode (which means you really need to hear it!).

The Antichrist is one of those characters that everyone has heard of, but few actually can agree on what they know about them. Have no fear! Bael and Riff dive into the tales and try and paint a picture of the enigmatic star of the apocalypse.

The guys have been to church. You've probably been to church. Churches are as varied as the people who attend them. What does the Bible say a church should look like? Bael and Riff make some rather shocking discoveries in that regard.

The Prince of Darkness, Beelzebub, Lucifer, and many other names that just about everyone knows supposedly refer to the same cosmic deity of evil. But what if they didn't? What if everything you think you know about the Devil was conjured up in an attempt to deflect from the actual story? Bael and Riff are on the case!

Bael and Riff take the fall with the Devil's minions. They just have to figure who or what that is. And if they actually work for the Devil. Won't you fall with us?
