Join us this Sunday as we wrap up our course on the Bible with a discussion about the application of God’s Word. We’ve talked about how we can best understand what God is saying to us in His Word, but what are the effects of our understanding? How does understanding God’s Word change us as a church? As an individual? How do we become “doers of the Word?"

This Sunday, we are concluding our study on the Christian mind. This last class will deal with practical issues related to the believer's thinking and worldview. How should we view our roles in society, culture, and the arts? How ought we to live?

This week we will be exploring the concept of the perspicuity or clarity of Scripture. Scripture testifies to its own clarity but not all of Scripture is equally clear. We will spend time talking through the idea that the essential truths necessary for salvation are clear and understandable to all who seek them, but there are parts of Scripture that are less clear. Science and religion are often pitted against one another in a battle for truth. It doesn't need to be this way. Instead, we should look to science as a tool to investigate the wonder of God's ways and we can use science to declare His glory in the created realm.

This Sunday, we'll begin to explore the source for right thinking. The answer is God. But how can we know the truth that is from God? Since we are not only finite but sinful, how can we have any assurance that we can comprehend truth?

Next week we'll continue our discussion on the Bible and human authorship. This Sunday, we're discussing the importance of the Holy Spirit's testimony to the Bible's divine origin and trustworthiness. We've briefly explored this topic but will dig deeper to see how the Holy Spirit opens our eyes to receive Scripture and believe it.
