Through the loving admonition of the prophets, God denounces the idolatry and spiritual adultery of His covenant people, displays His justice in the coming exile for their covenant breaking, and boldly declares His covenant promise to heal, restore, and bless all the nations through His covenant love in the coming Messiah.

Despite the completion of the temple for the nation’s centralized worship, Israel’s devotion to God drifts in the wake of its newfound success and comfort, with Solomon’s divided heart leading to a divided monarchy as the slow drift of syncretistic sin splinters Israel & Judah and sends them spiraling in decline.

In the absence of leadership and destructive spread of self-rule, Israel demands a king for their young nation, rejecting God in the process as their source of direction, protection, and validation and further highlighting God’s gracious promise to David of the coming king whose throne will be eternal.

In fulfillment of His promise, and in response to the Canaanites centuries of evil, God mightily gives his people a home, charging them in the process towards pure devotion to Him as their only hope for future security & joy.

In loving discipline for their unbelief God takes His people through the wilderness, patiently weaning them off their distrusting, self-reliant patterns of the past and re-training them in daily trust of Him as their leader and all-satisfying Lord moving forward.

Upon rescuing His people, God graciously gives the law to direct their new relationship with Him moving forward.

The Lord reveals Himself as the One True God, delivering Israel out of Egyptian slavery by asserting His supreme power over human kings and false gods while displaying His rescuing grace towards all who call on Him.

Despite intense suffering and seeming setbacks, God providentially moves forward His promise through the life of Joseph, turning evil around for His life-saving, redemptive purposes.

God’s faithfulness to fulfill His covenant promise is not deterred by man’s distrust and disobedience, and despite man’s attempts to secure divine blessing through cunningly deceptive schemes, it is only experienced through His patient and merciful grace.

In the face of constant threats to God’s promise, He faithfully protects, expands, and fulfills it with an unconditional covenant commitment, saving by grace those who trust in Him for it.

As sin accelerates and pervades the earth, man’s attempts to appease, obey, and achieve their way back to Eden fail miserably, further accentuating the desperate need for an outside rescue to deliver from death and address the fundamental problem of the human heart.

Sin invades the world, fracturing God’s good design as the human heart is deceived into distrusting God. Yet in the wake of paradise lost, a stunning seed of grace and hope are found.

As the pinnacle of His creation, God crafts humanity in His own image, giving inherent identity and clear purpose as He places Adam and Eve together in the perfect garden

In the beginning, God’s good design is set in motion through the creation of everything out of nothing and subsequent formation of Eden for humanity, showcasing His eternal power, perfect wisdom and loving provision in the process.

The Word of God is beautiful because it reveals to us the Beautiful One in all of His greatness, goodness, grace, and glory.

The goodness of God’s Word shines bright in the lives of those who hide it in their heart - sanctifying them by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Though God tells us much through His creation, the supreme source of His revelation to us is His Word, the sufficient foundation of all Truth.

God’s Word is essential to survival as the vital source of our joy and life.

The alluring draw of identifying with and hoping in leaders, policies, culture and country is hollow in contrast to our primary citizenship under our perfect King.

The endless pursuit of knowledge fails to bring the peace and happiness only found in knowing the One who is Truth, and having your identity re-located in His knowledge of you.

Jesus invites us to reject our religious attempts to be right with God, repent of our self-righteousness, and rest in the comfort and joy of a right relationship with God based on His righteousness.

Self-medicating our pain and boredom by chasing ease, relief, and escape to feel better is far inferior to the true hope and healing the God of all comfort brings, meeting us in the midst of even our deepest despair and afflictions with His ever-present care.

Better than any false greatness that comes with lord “our” power over others, true greatness is found in the humble person and work of Jesus.

The illusional attempts to control, with their accompanying fear and anxiety, are far inferior to the peace and freedom that come with trusting the caring God who’s in control.

The steadfast love of Jesus is better than life, and the root from which all other loves may grow and bear good fruit, for He himself is love.
