The Undead Symphony

Send us Fan Mail A change of plan. We had that list of zombie movies on TUBI. Michael was given the reigns and I asked him which one to watch next. He said Transit 17, a French/Belgian/dutch effort. I agreed then saw the trailer and reviews and now he has had his choosing privileges revoked again. That being said TUBI has redeemed itself by offering up this, a rom zom com, and there aren’t many of...

Send us Fan Mail WORLD END AT CAMP Z A campground owner learns of a prospective buyer's evil intentions concerning the land. A zombie uprising might help him stop the sale. 3.3/10 in IMDB urgh No overall score in RT as it doesn’t have 50 people who could be bothered to watch it 1/10 The Mess at Worlds End Whoever rated thus dog over 3 is either high or part of the film crew. It's a wande...

Send us Fan Mail I know I know I promised Michael I would watch World Ends at Camp Z, but I really don’t want to, so I am sneaking in DEATH SHACK. DEATH SHACK BABY DEATH SHACK DEATH SHACK BABY THAT’S WHERE ITS AT. 2017 from SHUDDER Gets a respectable 5.5/10 on IMDB And 82% on ROTTEN TOMATOES Yup. How do you like them apples? Three teens and a drunken father on a cabin getaway discover their myster...

Send us Fan Mail We do this from time to time, we see a movie that we need to discuss. Despite it being a B-movie set in Brighton, with annoying students, bad CGI helicopters and arguably the worst sound mix of any movie, there is enough there to like. Infected (2021) or Darkest Day (2015). It was no Pro Wrestlers v Zombies. How dare you! 4.5/10

Send us Fan Mail Looked very 28 Days later in the trailer In a country ravaged by a deadly virus that has triggered a zombie apocalypse, the military is on the hunt for the man rumoured to have the cure Well, I am getting a bit of déjà vu here - much like the movie Zombies!f from 2016  Which was repackaged as Zombie Christmas Apocalypse in 2024 this is actually the 2015 movie Darkest Day And, more...

Send us Fan Mail 3.4/10 in IMDB 20% on rotten tomatoes What did people say? A sadistic, immoral film that is utterly contemptible and repulsive. To say this is sick cinema without any redeeming elements at all is an understatement. The beginning sequence is one of the most morally offensive ever filmed. The consumption of a living child by a zombie, dining on the innocent's stomach while the...

Send us Fan Mail Ok, we finally made it through the confusing world of Paul W S Anderson's Resident Evil, an inconsistent bag of cat if ever there was one.

Send us Fan Mail I had been looking forward to this one, to be fair. Handling the Undead (2024) based on a novel by John Linqvist who brought us Let the Right One In, a clever and modern take on the vampire story. Scandi, arty, modern, starring Anders Lie from one of our favourites The Night Eats the World about the dead coming back. It had the right ingredients but this was not a zombie movie. It...

Send us Fan Mail And it is finally here. We have managed to survive 14 years of the T-virus with Alice and a host of heroes and villains that changed more than the weather. Paul W S Anderson flip flopping constantly, we have one villainous doctor in this movie, then a different one the next movie, we have number of computer game heroes this movie, and they aren't even mentioned in the next. I...

Send us Fan Mail Silent Zone,  a 2025 horror movie about a post-apocalyptic world where people have been turned into savage, zombie-like creatures called ferals. A resourceful teenager, Abigail, and her protector, Cassius, fight for survival against the ferals. The film follows their journey as they encounter other survivors and face relentless dangers. 5.9/10 IMDB so not bad at all. or In a zombi...

Send us Fan Mail Festival of the Living Dead is a 2024 American zombie movie made by the Soska Sisters Jen and Sylvia. So the sisters also made American Mary, a remake of Cronenberg’s Rabid, and a few WWE funded movies. None of which I will, and none of which I have intention to see.  Quite bombastically it is labelled as the spiritual successor to the game changing George A Romero 1968 night of t...

Send us Fan Mail In this wide ranging catch-up we talk all the things we have been up to, the movies we have seen, plus 28 Years Later, Festival of the Dead and the main point of the pod, selling each other Zombie Repellent and Zombies Christmas Apocalypse.  A fun chat was had Zombie Repellent 5/10 Festival of the Dead 4/10 Zombies Christmas Apocalypse 3/10 28 Years breaking even at the box office...

Send us Fan Mail A solo episode from Michael this time around, other than me interjecting with a HOW DARE YOU! We split to watch Zombie Repellent (Me and a 5/5 in Amazon) and Zombies Christmas Apocalypse (Michael and a 2/10 on IMDB). Was it fair? Well, no. But hey ho! All is fair in love and zombie warz.  So this bag of shinola was a repackaged 2016 Tony Todd piece of shit zombie movie repackaged...

Send us Fan Mail One of the new zombie movies and shows on Amazon, this and the Zombies Christmas Apocalypse, and Newtopia. Gets a staggering 5/5 but we know that Amazon scoring is a shit show. This one would have been better as a drama than a comedy, as none of the actors really have the comedy chops. However, it was watcheable. A big twist, which again, would have been better if this was a drama...

Send us Fan Mail Ollie and I are more than friends, we are a really, really small gang. Technically 2 is the minimum number of people needed for a gang. And so here we are talking all things zombies, including our first, last, worst and best, sleeper hits, we play the expanded Virus or Voodoo or Aliens, and spitball ideas for his Discord writing collective. Give it a listen. Or else... or else we...

Send us Fan Mail And whilst Ollie Eats Brains and Michael are in a holding pattern prior to tomorrows recording I am back on the DVDs and somewhat of a classic in the genre, THE BEYOND, a movie that has terrified audiences across the world, lucio fulci face melting, blood oozing, gory glory. 1981 it was also released as And you will live in terror! The afterlife Set in new orleans Its plot follows...

Send us Fan Mail Well, hot shit, we are back for another episode. Well I am, hi. This is the Undead Symphony with me Darren Smith. And in this episode I am watching Dead Zone, not the Stephen King paranormal movie with Christopher Qalken, or the show with Anthony Michael hall, this is a zombie sci fi tech armour movie starring Michael Jai White, of Spawn Fame, Jeff Fahey of Lawnmower man fame, and...

Send us Fan Mail In this episode we welcome back the wonderful Stephanie Grant from the Listeners of the Dead Podcast for a chat. It tells the story of a young man with amnesia who joins forces with a hardened survivalist during a zombie like outbreak, as they set out to find his missing girlfriend.  And fortunately for us, it is on AMAZON at the moment,...

Send us Fan Mail Welcome to RACCOON CITY It is reboot time Johannes Roberts of 47 metres down and The Strangers: prey at night wrote and directed this 2021 reboot  set in 1998. Send us Fan Mail Ok we are here and back after the 200th episode extravaganza, back on the zombies, and the DVDs too. Now this is THE DEAD NEXT DOOR 1989 written, produced and directed by JR Bookwalter. His debut too. And he did the soundtrack… another one of those Steph described this as another from the bargain bin 2/10… which is a really bad sign… The blurb is that In the near future, the world...

Send us Fan Mail Our 200th episode and the end of season 6 of the podcast. It is a like a gender reveal party, but rather than blue or pink powder it is just blood and guts in pletiful supply.  Before the Resident Evil series Paul WS Anderson actually made decent movies, starting with Shopping starring Jude Law he went onto making the popular first Mortal Kombat, the one with Christopher Lambert a...
