The Lost Drive-In

This movie has a sleepy quality to it, but it does engage with some thought-provoking ideas. The movie succeeds by making you think, and in that it is interesting. Where the movie stuggles is in execution. There are no excellent set-piece moments, and too much of the important development happes off-camera. They forgot the important rule of film: it's always best to show instead of tell. That said...

Creepshow 2 reminds us that it is easy to dupe old Ray Spruce with your fake American Indian plastic trinkets that you likely pulled from a "gumballum" machine for 25 American cents. It also reminds us that if you sleep creep your lady friends that you'll get eaten by a lake trash bag monster, and that you can likely find a Nathan Fillion look-a-like to plow you at a rate of $25 per orgasm. We get it, Hitchcock hates blondes, but boy o' boy what a picture. What if we kill Janet Leigh’s character (Marion Crane) in the first 45 minutes, put Norman Bates in a dress with serious mommy issues, and then have him carve up a private eye at the top of the stairs in one of the most iconic shots of the time? It's hard to believe that this film was released in 1960! YouTube Version https://www.y...
