The Diary Of A Wannabe Writer

I talk about my day and why I won’t get much writing done.

In my final podcast on this trip away from home, I update you on my progress with the second draft of “Empress Of The Trees”.

Not feeling well today so I’ve not written. Instead I talk about the future of Doctor Who - the changes it seems they made to accommodate Ncuti Gatwa leaving the show and how this makes it an unattractive prospect for a new streaming partner if Disney are no longer involved…

I talk about my last 24 hours, including the fact I have managed to get chapter 32 of “Empress Of The Trees” signed off, and I explained why this is a significant moment in the book.

An update about “Empress Of The Trees” from the Opera bar in Sydney.

I record my podcast today in Sydney as I walk from my hotel to Circular Quay…

I talk about the writing. I managed to get done today despite being really tired, and about my walk in the park.

I talk from Singapore about signing off chapter 30 of “Empress of the Trees”…

I talk about my plans for the next week, both writing and not writing.

I managed to get chapter 29 signed off today, meaning that I only have to sign off chapter 30 to hit my writing deadline for the month, so I have given that chapter a first read through as well! I also talk about this cracking BBC Radio 4 series which is about policing and presented by a real police officer, see here for more info: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/b060fj66

I talk about how I surprise myself by getting two further chapters of Empress Of The Trees signed off today despite being very tired - I’ve now done 29 (the prologue and the first 28 chapters) and have 15 to go…

An update on how my flights went today, as well as where I’m at in terms of achieving my June targets…

I’m not in Jeddah. Let me explain…

I finally get back into editing mode, I talk about signing off Chapter 26 of “Empress of the Trees” and where that leaves me in the overall structure of the book.

A podcast in which I sneeze a lot. Sorry.

Having written nothing, I resort to answering random questions from the Internet for the first time this year…

No writing today, but I do a little chat about some lovely recreations a British satellite channel did in 2019 of some missing episodes of Dad’s Army and how the BBC should’ve done something similar with Doctor Who in 2013…

Having done no writing today I talk about some albums I have ordered…

I report in from New York City where I’ve done some exercise and some writing! Can’t be bad…

I talk about the fact I’m not working in July and mull over some ideas for what I might do during that time…

In a podcast you may not have been expecting (because in yesterday’s show I said there would not be one!) I talk about the “Empress” chapters I’m currently editing plus the fact that Doctor Who is currently in a kind if limbo for the first time since 1990…

As well as updating you on my writing progress, I read a short story that I wrote in 20 minutes at a new writing workshop that I have joined in my hometown… Also, despite what I said in the podcast, there will be an episode tomorrow… When I recorded it I forgot that I had promised to do an episode every day in June. Oops.

I talk about how tired I am due to jetlag but also the fact I managed to get some work done…

Sorry about the length of this one, it’s entirely about the Doctor Who finale and my thoughts on it…

I talk about the chapter I have edited today and reiterate my goals for this month.
