The Cinementalists

All franchises have low points, but how low of a point is this movie really?

One of us watched the assembly cut and the other watched the theatrical. It made for a bit of dissonance.

Today we continue our coverage of the franchise with its second installment, from James Cameron: ALIENS.

We’re back on our franchise sh*t with one of the greatest science fiction series ever put to film! We star with the certified classic: ALIEN.

We conclude our celebration of LGBTQIA+ Pride Month with Park Chan-wook's THE HANDMAIDEN.

Our Pride Month celebration pushes forth as we see the TV glow. Love my trans homies, I’m happy you’re you.

Happy Pride and Happy Juneteenth, today we celebrate a heart-rending, black, queer tale of repression and self-actualization in MOONLIGHT.

Our Pride Month celebration continues with Luca Guadagnino’s QUEER.

Pride Month is here and we kick it off with an all timer, the forbidden fruit of the right person in the wrong time, from Celine Sciamma: PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE.

The bridge between our Mission Impossible coverage and our slate for Pride Month. Colton and Joe go with a 1 on 1 Q&A about all sorts of stuff in The Movies. Theoretical and practical, we have our fun.

Mission complete. Our coverage of the M:I franchise comes to an end with the seminal finale of the series. First 30 minutes are spoiler free! Enjoy!

The penultimate installment in an epic franchise. Our last week of anticipation before THE FINAL RECKONING. We are ready.

The best MISSION IMPOSSIBLE movie? Maybe so, we discuss it here.

Our anticipation of THE FINAL RECKONING continues with the first MISSION IMPOSSIBLE movie directed by Christopher McQuarrie: ROGUE NATION.

Next on our M:I journey is the only one with Lea Seydoux and Paula Patton (so you know it’s good.) MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL.

Our anticipation of THE FINAL RECKONING amounts with JJ Abrams’ debut feature: MISSION IMPOSSIBLE III

Our anticipation of THE FINAL RECKONING continues to grow with perhaps the finest Tom Cruise has ever been. John Woo’s MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE II.

And thus begins our great anticipation for THE FINAL RECKONING. We take it back to where it started: Brian De Palma’s MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE.

We conclude our month full of science fiction gems with Rian Johnson’s LOOPER.

Joseph’s 25th birthday has arrived and we’re celebrating with one we’ve wanted to cover for a while: TRON.

Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with one of the finest Irishmen in movies: Cillian Murphy. Our sci-fi month continues with SUNSHINE.

Kaijus and mechas and Charlie Day, oh my. This week we’re talking PACIFIC RIM from Guillermo Del Toro. Enjoy!

A month of science fiction flicks on THE CINEMENTALISTS starts here! Spielberg’s lesser known but still quite renowned A.I. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.

The 2025 Oscars were yesterday, and no way The Cinementalists can just let it go by without talking about it. A bonus episode for March in the midst of our Sci-Fi adventure, and at the end of the episode we finally reveal the winners of our giveaway that was happening over on Bluesky!

Absurdist, anti-capitalist, pro-union propaganda? Gimme that. We conclude Black History Month with SORRY TO BOTHER YOU.
