Acts 8:1, 3, " And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles. 3, As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison. " The greatest persecutors ca...

Acts 7:38, " This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us " This scripture teaches us that the church, the remnant of true believers in Israel, were in the wilderness with the nation of Israel during their wilderness wandering. The true body of believers, this church,...

Acts 2:47, " Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. " The Lord added to the church. It is his church, and he is the one who is building it. If people are getting saved and the church is growing it is because God is doing the work. Don't let any man take the glory for what God is doing. The Lord allows us to participate i...

Matthew 18:17, " And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican. " I've known people in my past who used this scriptures to justify getting rid of people or driving people out of ministry. Is that what the Lord is teaching us here? How did the Lord treat people such as a publican? The man wh...

Matthew 16:18, " And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. " What God builds cannot be destroyed by the devil. The gates of hell shall not prevail against the church. There are times when the church looks beaten down, persecuted, cast out, or killed. But in the end the church will be raised up and g...

Romans 10:9, " That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. " God the Father raised his son Jesus Christ from the dead. This is the gospel that Paul outlined for us in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. It is by faith in these facts, and agreement with this truth that a person is born again and receives e...

Romans 8:34, " Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. " The Lord Jesus is our High Priest who lives forever and is making intercession for us. His blood washes away all of our sins. The Lord Jesus prays for us. The Lord Jesus prayed for us before his death and resurrection. Read...

Romans 8:11, " But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. " When we believed the gospel the Holy Spirit came into our spirit and give us life. We were born again by the Holy Spirit. This means we are sealed by the Holy Spirit. This is the same Holy Spirit...

1 Corinthians 15:52, " In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. " This transformation from a body of death to a glorified body will take place in less than a second. How quick is "the twinkling of an eye"? Faster than you can think. That is how quick we will be changed. In a moment....

Romans 6:9, " Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. " Death was defeated by the Lord Jesus Christ. Death in a spiritual sense is separation from God. Physical death is only the beginning of death for those who are outside of Christ. For those who are in Christ Jesus they will never face separation from God. They will never die in the bi...

Acts 17:31, " Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead. " God has appointed a day in which he will judge this world in righteousness. How do we know this? This bible verse teaches us we can have assurance of this appointed day of ju...

Revelation 20:6, " Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years. " What is the second death? It is the lake of fire. We can avoid this lake of fire by putting our faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ today. Ask him to wash away all of your sins,...

Colossians 3:1, " If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. " God raised us up and seated us together with the Lord in heavenly place. Now that we are risen with Christ we are to seek those things which are above. The Lord Jesus Christ is at the right hand of God the Father. Our hearts need to be set completely on things abov...

Ephesians 2:6, " And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus " This scripture teaches us about our position in Christ. We were raised up together with the Lord Jesus when he rose from the dead. God has made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus. Our true position, our true home, is not earth bound. Our home is in the kingdom of the Lord...

1 Corinthians 15:16-17, " For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: 17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. " Evidently there were some people who did not believe the doctrine of the resurrection. We know that the religious group known as the Saduccees were part of this movement. However, Paul uses basic logic here, and proves that if Christ did not...

Romans 4:24-25, " But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. " Jesus died on the cross for our sins, our offences; he was raised up again for our justification. Now we have been brought back and reconciled to God through what Jesus accomplished thr...

Acts 17:3, " Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. " Paul preached and taught from the Old Testament scriptures that Christ needed to suffer and rise from the dead. We see this also in the conversation with Jesus and his disciples on the road to Emmaus. Do you know those scriptures in the O...

John 11:24-25, " Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day. 25, Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live " These scriptures always remind me of the difference between Bible doctrine and the living reality of the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Martha knew Bible doctrin...

Revelation 20:5, " But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. " After one thousand years of Christ's reign on this earth the rest of humanity who were not yet resurrected will also be raised up from the dead. Those who were in the first resurrection are priests of God and Christ and shall reign with Him during that thousand year...

1 Peter 1:3, " Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead " Our hope is not dead; it is alive. What does it mean to have a living hope? Our hope is not in man-made systems, philosophies, or doctrines. Our hope is in a person, the Son of God, Jesus Christ. H...

Philippians 3:10, " That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. " Paul's goal was to know the Lord Jesus Christ. He wanted to know Christ in the power of his resurrection, and also in the fellowship of his sufferings. He wanted to walk in the...

1 Peter 1:21, " Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. " Our faith and our hope is in God, not in ourselves. Some people have developed the idea that having faith in "faith" is enough to produce happiness or health or good times in a person's life. I heard this philosophy in a self-help program before I became a...

Hebrews 11:35, " Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection " What is a better resurrection? Elisha the prophet raised a young boy from the dead in the Old Testament. No doubt this boy grew up, became a man, but he still had to die again one day. There were people that the Lord Jesus raised from...
