Épisodes

34: Moore Kismet 02.07.2024

Moore Kismet is one of the hottest rising producers in the electronic scene, primed to release a debut album later this year - and they're only 16! Balancing Zoom school and a bubbling career is not too much for this stunning talent to handle. Their passion for art and life is infectious, their dedication is evident, and their energy is nothing short of unicorn magic! In today's chat, I...

31: Alison Wonderland and Valentino Khan 02.06.2024

Would you believe I bought a new computer the day I hosted this stream in the hopes that I would fix my technical difficulties? Serves me right! Good thing Alison Wonderland and Valentino Khan are such good friends. Their positive energy and thoughtful commentary made this episode of Kat Calls a winner despite my best efforts to fail!  Here, I chat with the power duo about their first collaborativ...

32: Pennywild 02.06.2024

Multi-talented dancer, director, producer and DJ Pennywild is one of the warmest and most thoughtful artists out there. Her debut EP "Midi in Motion" dedicates each track to a different style of dance, celebrating vogue, swing, tap and modern dance with pulsing club beats and infectious hooks.  In today's episode, I chat with Penny about growing up in New Jersey and New York City as...

27: Rusko 02.06.2024

I couldn't have had a better nor sillier time catching up with the absolute legend. Rusko is a ray of human sunshine, and in this episode, he tells stories of his life and creations with a permanent smile. We chat about how coming of age in the UK's reggae sound system culture, partying with Skream, making the iconic "Woo Boost" video, friend chicken and shrimp, signs from Prod...

28: Four Color Zack 02.06.2024

He's either the smartest dumb person or the dumbest smart person I've ever met. He's a world champion battle DJ, a multi-talented creative and literally the best channel on Twitch (well, at least in my opinion). Four Color Zack comes through to chat about a whole lot of stuff, from his life as a Mountain Dew-chugging teenage graffiti artist, to his soul-crushing days spent in advert...

29: Wave Racer 02.06.2024

Ride the rainbow and join me for this fun little chat with Wave Racer. The Australian electronic artist and songwriter makes some of the fizziest, mot infectious dance-pop tunes this side of a cartoon universe. He's been hard at work on a new - let's just call it an album's worth of songs. Here, we chat about his latest singles, video games, Ed Banger, punk rock, Australian lingo, h...

30: Good Times Ahead 02.06.2024

If you wanna talk day ones, Good Times Ahead have to be part of the conversation. I've had the distinct pleasure of coming up with these guys, first interviewing them for the Miami New Times in 2012 and following them through their musical journey via damn near every publication I've written for.  They've opened for Rihanna's arena tour, collaborated with pretty much every majo...

26: LP Giobbi 02.06.2024

As soon as I had the practice call with LP Giobbi, I knew this episode was gonna be magic. Raised by Dead Heads and trained as a jazz pianist, the effervescent "piano house" queen radiates joy and passion. Her deep love of the crowd infuses her tracks and performances with infectious energy, while her dedication to the craft and to her fellow creatives spawned the important work of Femme...

23: Saint Punk 02.06.2024

Saint Punk's bass-heavy style of "grunge house" is rough and riddled with rebellion - and that makes sense, because he was singing and playing guitar in rock bands years before he produced. His early released on Tchami's Confessions label channeled that energy, but his latest singles "Fight" and "Molotov Cocktail" take it a step further, inspired by his frus...

24: Danny Daze 02.06.2024

Danny Daze is a man that defies categorization, whether he's mixing '80s electro and Berlin techno on the decks, or grinding analog grooves in his Miami studio. He started DJing when he was 13 and cut his teeth playing Miami proms and bar mitzvah. Now, he brings his limitless blend of electro, techno, house and IDM to crowds from Detroit to Berlin and beyond. Truly a man who does not giv...

25: Quiet Bison 02.06.2024

For a kid that counted Flume as a fan before he graduated high school, Quiet Bison is pretty damn humble. The Portland-based producer is not pretentious in the least, but he does turn out mind-warping music at a dizzying speed - whether or not you can dance to it is another question. From his early days humming "Duel to Fates" to his adolescent love of deadmau5, QB honed in on a uniquely...

20: Kah-Lo 02.06.2024

Kah-Lo is the Nigerian-born, NYC-based collab queen of your party dreams. She's worked with Riton, Michael Brun, Diplo, The Knocks, Idris Elba and more - but in 2020, she's ready to grab the spotlight with two hands and turn it on her own pop stardom. Hilarious, insightful and full of life, Kah-Lo is an artist who knows her worth. She's certainly one of the brightest energies to vis...

21: Treasure Fingers 02.06.2024

Ever since his days playing bass guitar in marching band, Ashley Jones stands out more than he fits in. Going against the grain is his super power, whether that's dropping genre-defying drum'n'bass with Evol Intent, breaking the blog house scene with Treasure Fingers, or running tech house experiments as Datatab. His willingness to try something new made him a standout of the Twitch...

22: TSHA 02.06.2024

TSHA doesn't believe in "manifestation," but the story of her blossoming music career is truly magic. She released her first EP on her dream label (Counter/Ninja Tune) and performed alongside her musical hero (Bonobo) way before her personal three-year deadline. It's no mystery how. Her productions are imbued with a soulful beauty and emotive wisdom that can't be faked. He...

18: Crystallmess 02.06.2024

Who said dark-techno texturalists couldn't have fun? Paris-based producer and DJ Christelle is as kind as she is talented. She had me jealous with her teenage stories in the French Touch 2.0 era, but when the club scene turned to tech beats, she funneled her frustration into a hard-hitting, emotional, noise-based sound all her own.  She's also a mixed media storyteller, and I was amazed...

19: Hotel Garuda 02.06.2024

Ever since Hotel Garuda broke out as a solo act in 2016, Aseem Mangaokar has gotten to the heart and soul of his true artistic vision. "The Tension" EP, released in 2020, is a debut of sorts that explores bigger instrumentation and craftier songwriting, aligning the Hotel Garuda sound with Aseem's greatest influences.  In this episode of Kat Calls, we chat everything from Alan Parso...

17: Vanessa Michaels 02.06.2024

Coming straight from 2090, Venessa Michaels is an out-of-the-box music maker blending nostalgic R&B with futuristic rainbow beats. She's all about community and recently collaborated on a candy-coated EP with Kaleena Zanders as well as a full album with LUVK (that latter of which put her guitar skills to werk). The experience inspired her to write her own forthcoming solo LP that sees the...

16: YehMe2 01.06.2024

Stoked to welcome the absolute legend. As half of Flosstradamus, Josh Young changed the face of EDM, infusing the scene with real trap shit (and getting banned from Chicago parties in the process). In 2016, he went solo as YehMe2, and in 2020, he's taken the crown as one of quarantine's stream kings, creating space for humor, activism and hard-ass beats on stages from Lollapalooza to Bey...

13: Deadmau5 and Carl Cox 01.06.2024

This might be the wildest Kat Calls in history. Carl Cox represents for the UK, spinning house and techno around the world for more than 30 years. deadmau5 is the leader of the new school, but these two figureheads have more in common than you might think. Watch deadmau5 chain smoke as we chat "Pomegranate," The Neptunes, F1, live techno, virtual spaces and more. Follow for updates: IG |...

14: Slow Magic 01.06.2024

Everyone's favorite imaginary friend comes to life in his first-ever live video interview! Slow Magic chats with me about the wifi router in his helmet, his latest EP "Closer 2 U" and the forthcoming post-apocalyptic album it's a part of. We also talk about his love of hardcore bands, how he met his wife Dream Angel, coffee, BBQ grill tips and he and his wife's podcast Pla...

15: Sophiegrophy 01.06.2024

Nigerian-born, Australian-based rapper Sophiegrophy isn't like other MCs. Her dynamic style isn't limited to any one flavor or groove, and she's just as likely to listen to Green Day and Jon Bellion as she is Lil Wayne. She's worked closely with dance producers, including Walker & Royce, J. Worra and Codes, but it's her debut EP "Bold" that gives her confiden...

12: Elderbrook 01.06.2024

11: Myd 01.06.2024

Ed Banger's resident silly goose Myd chats with Kat Bein, just before his debut album Born A Loser was released in April 2020. Follow for updates: IG | Twitter | TikTok | Discord Follow the Kat Scrawls Newsletter for essays, interviews, playlists and more https://katbein.substack.com/

10: Uniiqu3 07.03.2024

Jersey stand up! Uniiqu3 came through the show to chat about the incredible impact her city has had on the music world, and to talk a bit about her own incredible impact on the scene. She is absolutely that girl, and I catch her sets every chance I get. So should you! Follow us: @uniiqu3music @SuperKatWorld Follow for updates: IG | Twitter | TikTok | Discord Follow the Kat Scrawls Newsletter for e...

9: Ashley Venom 07.03.2024

This episode features my fellow Miamian, the incredible and inspiring Ashley Venom. She's a DJ, an event producer and an activist who knows how powerful music can be in the world, and she's making the most of hers, that's for sure.  This chat originally aired in June of 2020, so be sure to catch up on everything Ashley is up to today!
