Hard Ticket

What? You like movies, and you've never seen Jon Turteltaub's National Treasure? What are you, some kinda freak? That's right, The Blind Spots returns with another one of Jeff's. We didn't mean for it to happen, exactly, but Midtown Cinema just so happened to be playing National Treasure while we were in the neighborhood with all our recording gear in the back of Tristan's...

It's a hard ticket between Happy Gilmore and Caddyshack ! Which one will you watch? Let's decide! The legendary directorial debut of Harold Ramis, Caddyshack has persevered as a timeless(?) comedy with massive influence, including Sandler's own Happy Gilmore . Both are relentlessly quotable slapstick sports stories, but they're structural opposites: an ensemble mess vs. a focused,...

It's a hard ticket between Lake Mungo and Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! It's no secret that this is a very Lynch-friendly podcast, so it would take one hell of a movie to hold its own against our first Lynchian stab (and Twin Peaks , no less!). Lo and behold, we think we found it in Lake Mungo , a legitimate cult horror flick that skewers true...

He like to have fun on this show. Have we ever mentioned that! This week, we thought we'd roll some clips of some of our most memorable laughs of 2025. So enjoy the compilation, and we'll be back to our regularly scheduled program next week!

This past week, Jeff attended the International Journalism Festival in Perugia, Italy, and got to screen the documentary Inside Gaza . It's not an understatement to call this movie the most important movie a person can watch right now. For more information, visit here .

It's a hard ticket between F1 and Days of Thunder . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! Aaron Radcliff is cashing in on last month's Oscar sweepstakes win with a racing matchup for the ages: old school, American-style NASCAR versus the pristine, high-octane world of F1 racing. Why stop our Oscar marathon after the Oscars? Pick your poison. Do you favor the grenadine-tinted "go...

It's a hard ticket between Vertigo and When Marnie Was There . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! This week, we're crossing over with the legendary Amy Hensarling, host of Watch This List and its brand new sub-series "Psychoanalyze This!" Seems as appropriate a time as any to talk about Vertigo , the movie for obsessive film fans by an obsessive film director about a man...

What?? You like movies and you've never seen Signs? Uh... yeah? Is M. Night Shyamalan's Signs a blind spot? Tristan seems to think so, and Josh is none the wiser. So, in this episode of The Blind Spots , the two sit down to determine, definitively, if this invasion flick that scarred so many children has earned "must watch" status. What do you think? Is Tristan onto something, or...

We're stepping away from our regularly scheduled program to talk about the hottest movie of 2026 thus far: Project Hail Mary . This movie is absolutely tearing up the box office right now, and like many others, we've made the trek to the theater to partake. What do we think? Well, we have... opinions. What else is new? Jeff actually read the book, so he's got something to say. 0:00 - T...

It's a hard ticket between Finding Nemo and One Battle After Another . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! Now that One Battle has officially been canonized by the Academy as the Best Picture of 2025, we're ready to put the discourse to bed. What better matchup to do that with than the story of another father braving the big, blue, dangerous world to reunite with his progeny? Finding Nemo has...

The Oscars are over, and the canon has been set. Which movies did you think deserved the gold? Did they win? Were they snubbed? We certainly have our own opinions, one being that it was a contentious Oscar year to start. Let's talk it out, y'all. Nobody died.

It's a hard ticket between Hamnet and Shakespeare in Love . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! Our Oscar countdown concludes with one of 2025's greatest dramas — and one of 1998's great instigators of drama. Yes, we're talking about the famous Saving Private Ryan snub that decorated Harvey Weinstein in gold. That's all anyone seems to remember about John Madden's Shakespeare in Love . But how...

It's a hard ticket between Robert Eggers' Nosferatu and Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! As we continue to capitalize on the upcoming Academy Awards, we're taking an opportunity to compare two decorated, contemporary updates on classic Gothic horror tales. These two Halloween mainstays feel appropriately similar yet curiously diametric. Why are Eggers and...

It's a hard ticket between Bugonia and Pass Thru . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! Awards season is in full swing, so we're counting down to the Oscars by talking about some of the biggest films from last year. What to put up against Yorgos Lanthimos' latest critical darling? How about an equally talky indie flick held together with duct tape instead of VistaVision film? That's right, Neil...

It's a hard ticket between The Poseidon Adventure and The Towering Inferno. Which one will you watch? Let's decide! These two 70s blockbusters flicks harken to a time when audiences took disasters a little more seriously. And, despite quite the overlap in crew, their claustrophobic escape premises couldn't be more different: a capsized ocean liner or a smoking skyscraper. Which one would you rathe...

It's a hard ticket between Elvis and Priscilla . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! These are two flicks in direct conversation with one another: Baz Luhrmann's bombastic biopic and Sofia Coppola's quiet counter balance. In some ways, these two movies couldn't be more different. Yet, they cover roughly the same subject and moment in time. Let the discourse ensue! Joining us in the studio is R...

It's a hard ticket between Winter Light and First Reformed . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! We're rounding out our own 2026 "God trilogy" with a classic church dilemma: traditional or contemporary? Ingmar Bergman might have pioneered the public struggle of a director with his own faith, and Paul Schrader is no stranger to overt influence. These two films strike a remarkable similarity, wi...

It's a hard ticket between Bruce Almighty and Click . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! We're dumbing down our theological discussion from last week with two "divine comedies" from the lowest common denominator. It's Carey vs. Sandler, a battle of the 90s comedians lost in soft-Bible-core 2000s vehicles. Would you rather be instilled with the powers of God, or yield them in a MacGuffin that...

Last week, the Academy announced its nominees for the 98th annual Oscars, and we've got opinions. What's the consensus? Were you shocked? Stunned? Agape? What do you think was the biggest snub? Does anyone have their win totally locked down? We've got a while until we know the winners, but for now, let's enjoy some discourse!

It's a hard ticket between The Truman Show and The Matrix . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! This is our season two premiere, so we're kicking things off with one of our "duel of the fates" matchups: pairings we've had lined up since the conception of our show. This week's task is a truly hard one. To choose between these two classics is brutal . Of course, we had to. But which one do you p...

We interrupt this program to bring you... The Blind Spots! Josh and Jeff are "movie guys." Therefore, any time they haven't seen somebody's favorite, they catch this phrase: " What? You like movies and you've never seen ___?" On The Blind Spots , one of us has and one of us hasn't. This is our way to catch those final moments of not having seen a film, watch it...

It seems like the world is eager to leave behind 2025. But which movies did it offer worth taking with us into the future? In this special year in review, the Hard Ticket boys are drawing movies from a hat to get through as many of this past year's releases as possible. There's a timer, messages from past guests, and a whole lot of fun to see off this abysmal year. It's better than it...

It's a hard ticket between Sinners and From Dusk Till Dawn . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! For our season one finale and final matchup of the year, we wanted to talk about one of 2025's heaviest hitters. Seeing as Ryan Coogler based his smash hit on the 1996 Robert Rodriguez cult classic, we figured they'd be a fitting pair. Boy, were we right. From preachers to vampires to sieges to the...

It's a hard ticket between Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode VIII — The Last Jedi . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! Of course, in talking about the most contentious blockbuster of all time, this isn't a particularly hard ticket for some. In fact, both of these movies could be considered pretty contentious. Both could also be considered the best of their re...

It's a hard ticket between Dr. Strangelove and Fail Safe . Which one will you watch? Let's decide! In 1964, in the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis, two directors decided to take the same story in vastly different directions. The result is this notorious Sidney Lumet v. Stanley Kubrick matchup-double-feature. One is a satire, one a damning social mirror. Those, we suppose, could be the same thing...
