Feeding On Jesus

When shame comes calling our name, we tend to do like Adam and Eve: we try to hide. Just as they fabricated an inadequate covering for their deep feelings of shame (out of fig leaves), we try to cover over our own shame with insufficient defense mechanisms. Jesus wants to show us a MUCH better way. 

Before Jesus came into our lives, we were wrapped in shame as with a cloak. He gives us the breathtaking gift of removing our filthy garments and dressing us in His very own righteousness. This gift obliterates shame at our very core.

Shame is one of the most painful effects of the Fall of Man.  On the cross, Jesus endured the anguish of our shame. He took it for us so we could be entirely free of it. He allowed Himself to be exposed so our sins could be covered. 

"Shame off you!" That is the heart of God for you and me. Today, we begin a brand new series on the podcast, "Dress for Success!" In the first few episodes, we will be exploring the origins of shame and God's stunning solution for it. Join me as we discuss our need for the richest of garments, the robe of righeousness.

Today is an unusual episode. We talk about a very painful topic, suicide. Even in the most anguished of circumstances, Jesus has a plan for redemption. In the darkest night, there is hope in Him.

Grace is your permanent process, your permanent position, and your permanent present. It's where you are seated and where you are standing. For all of eternity, you get to go deeper and deeper into His wonderful grace!

Grace and peace to you today, dear friend. By grace, receive a revelation of who God is. By grace, receive a revelation of who you are in Him. By grace, grow every day a little bit more, empowered by this deep-heart knowledge. Growing in grace: what a glorious permanent process is ours!

It all boils down to your identity. "Who do you think you are?" If you think that you are a slave of sin, you will live out of that identity. But if you consider yourself dead to sin and alive to God, made a participant of His nature, your living will be an overflow of that true understanding. Your will live your earthly life in and from the refuge of hope's stronghold.

The superpower of grace is yours… for living free from slavery to sin. You don't have to sin! As His grace empowers us, you and I get to live in continual victory. As participants in the divine nature, we offer ourselves to Him. Our compulsions become conformed to His righteousness that is alive inside of us.

Just like we were saved by grace alone, we walk into our destiny by grace alone. We are God's masterpieces. He dreamed each of us up and fashioned us to walk in an incredibly specific purpose... all as an overflow of His sheer goodness to us. 

Do you long to know and experience God's love for you in the deepest part of your being? This, too, is a gift of grace. It doesn't come by trying harder. Ask your good, good Daddy for this wonderful gift. It is His delight to work in you by His mighty power, that you might know Him better!

God has another superpower to impart to you: that of changing the world through your generosity. He is going to empower you to sow your seed. He is also going to grace you to richly enjoy your daily bread. As you partner with Him, He has in mind for you to absolutely abound in every good work!

Have you ever begged God to take away a circumstance that was causing you pain? Most of us have. What if God wants to bring us the victory... THROUGH us? What if He wants to defeat our enemies by teaching us how to vanquish them? In today's episode we talk about the sheer goodness of God that trains our hands for war and our fingers for battle. 

Battle weary, exhausted, tapped out... we've all been there. If you are feeling that way, you are in good company. Even the most powerful of apostles experienced the same. God has put into your hands a flabbergasting superpower. With your words of life, you can help call forth someone into their destiny. When you find out what Holy Spirit is saying about them, and you say it too, power travels through your words and imparts grace that helps shape the unfolding of their future!

Grace is a gift of empowerment to do what you could not do on your own. When we shout "Grace!" to mountains, they WILL be flattened. God wants to show you what power and authority He has given you to command impossibilities to get out of your way!

Our belovedness is the starting point for our godliness. When you know, deep in your heart, how treasured you are, imitating Jesus is the natural result. Grace overflows in an expression of obedience.

If God is so loving, so tender, so patient, why do so many people instinctively think of Him as angry? The answer lies in the condition of our spiritual eyes. If they are healthy, we perceive Him as He really is. If they are sick, they keep us from receiving the light that sets us free. The amazing news is that He is offering us grace that will heal spiritual eye disease once and for all!

Are you wrestling with painfully difficult questions? Your Abba wants to hear about it. Would you bring them to Him? He has such tender grace that He wants to provide for you in those places of intense struggle. 

The sheer goodness of our Abba Father opens our eyes to see Him... and faith is produced. When we perceive Him correctly, profound confidence in His character is the spontaneous result. Deep trust in His heart results when He heals our blindness. Revelation of His lavish, undeserved favor is key for walking into wholeness in Him.

It's grace that reveals to you and me all the breathtaking gifts our Father has in store for us. He wants to give us hope that is real. He wants to hand us power that will change everything. He wants to gift us with perspective that will take our breath away. Abba, open our eyes to see what is ours in You!

Our Daddy God is overflowing with eagerness to meet our needs. He longs to bestow good gifts on us. Every expression of His heart towards us is sheer goodness. Ask for your daily bread of revelation -- He will abundantly provide!

It's the grace of God that opens our eyes, that we might see Him for who He is. Once grace heals our blindness, we behold the One who loves us more than His own life. Once you really see Him, the desire to be with Him becomes all consuming. 

When you and I were far away from God, He was aching to have us close. By sheer grace, He brought us near to Him. He longs to reveal to our hearts the height and the depths and the width and the length of His infinite love for us. It will take eternity to unfold it all to us, but you better bet He wants to start now!

When you and I work really hard for Jesus and see amazing fruit, that's not actually us doing it. It's grace. Grace is a powerful force at work in each of us that belongs to Him. We get to come along for the ride and watch Him doing all the work through us!
