D&D is For Nerds

The city is at war. The halfling gang war has snowballed into a deadly city wide conflict. Old factions laid dormant crawl from their hiding places, new alliances rise from the ashes of old ones, and, through the poorly thought out machinations of one Gregg Piss. the monster Damien Eaton has aquired an army of the undead. Meanwhile Perri and Leo find themselves with the task of not only suriving a...

The assault on the Surefoot Warehouse is fully under way. After barely surviving the trap filled dungeon that was the warehouse, Peri and Leo face up against the deadly might of the Surefoot Halfling Family, deep in the bowels of Surefoot territory. But there is so much more on the line than either of them realise, for death and destruction are always close at hand when the halfling families are i...

Jackson and Zammit are here to talk about expanding the game! We go over some terrible ideas we had and re-purposing old ideas into brand new concepts. The Kickstarter is going live on March 18 4pm UK time, we'll be asleep little babies as it's 3am for us but that means we're going to be playing the Tabletop Simulator version of Jarren's Outpost the day before AND the day of the launch on the Sans...

After many trials and tribulations our heroes finally reconvence and immediately start trying to kill each other. A riot in the midst of an assault on a Surefoot warehouse where blood cultist fights dwarf fights town guard fights Gregg Piss. Leo and Perri try to focus on what's important: pelting across rooftops avoiding arrows and spells whilst Gregg Piss gets reaquainted with his old bookie deep...

Once again the weapon slips from our hero's grasp at the last second, this time falling into the hands of the nefarious and deadly Surefoot Family. What's more they have kidnapped Perriwinkle's wife and children. Big mistake. Now with Leo's help, it's looking like an all out halfling gang war and in the shadows, Gregg Piss pushes his luck with more dangerous deals and new dangerous friends. One th...

We sat down to play a 3 player game of Jarren's Outpost and then loudly talked over it to help give you an idea of how this game plays! It's basically a let's play but a board game. Does that exist? Should that exist? We reckon: no Either way we STRONGLY recommend you watch this over on YouTube: https://youtu.be/B3VpSukY5h4 . unless you're using our voices to help you fall asleep. If that's the ca...

Against all odds the plan has worked. Perri, Piss, and Leo have made their way into Eaton's keep and up to the vault. Leo attempts to convince Perriwinkle of his allegiance to the cause, Perri makes some hard decisions when it comes to fighting shadow people and Piss eats a bunch of pickled eggs. He is also locked in Damien Eaton's vault against his will and stripped of his clothes and possessions...

The plan is simple: convince every single faction that seeks the weapon to attack the keep at once and amidst the chaos sneak into Damien Eaton's stronghold and secure the weapon for themselves. Perri, Leo and Piss have given themselves six hours to make it happen. Piss encounters his bookie and nearly dies, Leo loses a beloved friend, and Perri puts together the greatest team the world has ever s...

This week Jackson and Zammit talk about a much maligned aspect of board game design: The End Game aka how do you make the last round not boring aka I have glanced down at the score and I cannot feasibly win so what now? Who knew the answer was simply give people stuff to do which may also include wrecking their friend's day. You can play the tabletop sim version of Jarren's Outpost here , Follow u...

Well Damien Eaton has the weapon, and on the homefront things are looking no better. The halfling families have picked this moment to consolidate their debts and thus the Quietnknives want insurance from Greg Piss in any way they can, Perri and Graggia's marriage is on the rocks and now their house is full of strangers, and the threat on Leo's life has finally been brought to Papa Littlelow's atte...

This week Adam, Jackson and Zammit talk about adapting the characters from the campaign of Jarren's Outpost into board game characters. All the missteps along the way, their individual approach to game design and the stages of grief when dealing with their beloved Nok Nok. You can play the tabletop sim version of Jarren's Outpost here , Follow us on Kickstarter and if you're a SP+ member, you can...

Conflict at the city docks! Orc tents besieged by gnomish rifle fire! The war for the city continues to rage and amidst the violence Leo, Greg, and Perriwinkle find themselves unlikely allies. Working in uneasy alliance they rush to acquire the weapon, they must avoiding orcs, gnomes, dwarves and Damien Eaton's terrifying and imposing mysterious dragon in pursuit of their ultimate prize. You can f...

We've been tooling away at this board game for a long time and we thought it might be smart to actually tell you about it! Over the next 14 weeks join Zammit and Jackson as they look back at all the creative and technical decisions that went in to making the Jarren's Outpost Board Game. With this episode we figured we'd give you a broad overview of what the hell this game even is, the history of h...

The city of Jarren's Outpost is in turmoil. Militias roam the streets, militant religious forces lay siege to the cities spiritual soul and from the shadows the halfling criminal families emerge to seek control. The fate of the city hinges on the acquisition of a weapon of great power, and the acquisition of the weapon hinges on the fates of the former captain of the guard, a greaseboy, and one of...

A lot has happened since we first decided to re-tackle Barovia. And while the next campaign to hit your ears would normally have been the (maybe??) last season of Vampire Infested Barovia, life got in the way and we couldn’t record before Zammit’s baby was born. So have a listen to where we’re going with the story, what’s coming up next as well as some listener questions. If you could do us a grea...
