Creativity Wasted

Creativity Wasted is a podcast where a group of creative people get together, and we each share an idea that we're not planning on pursuing in real life, such as an invention idea that's outside our area of expertise, a futuristic sci-fi movie idea, or an evil prank idea. And rather than just letting the idea quietly slip away, we get some fun out of it by joking about it together.

A conversation on how weird it is that so many young people hadn't heard of Jeffrey Dahmer before the recent Netflix show, and how Gen Z (and sometimes older people as well) don't know hardly anything about the culture or history from the decades before they reached adulthood. This conversation includes some (unsuccessful) brainstorming of ideas on how to solve that problem. Also: Are low attentio...

ThanksKaren Day (Juan Carlos Calvachi) 19.09.2022

Idea: A holiday where "Karens" who got caught committing an act of rudeness (i.e. being a "Karen") are punished by having to give a gift to a randomized victim of a different "Karen" during that same year. The gift recipients are randomized because the "Karens" might find it difficult to give a non-passive-aggressive gift to their own victim. Also: alternati...

Concrete-Filled Ketchup Bottle Self-Defense Weapon (Rheila Grae) 19.08.2022

Idea: A ketchup bottle with concrete hidden inside to be used as a blunt-force self-defense weapon, so an attacker wouldn't realize it was a weapon and take it from you. Also: the weirdness of carrying around a ketchup bottle; the risk of people asking you for ketchup (which you don't have); carrying a ketchup bottle could give you an excuse for having someone's blood on you (i.e. you could say th...

"The Handler" Hand Movement Replication Robot (Lindsey Boersma) 12.08.2022

Idea: A hand-like robot which repeats hand motions that you program into it, in order to a) control a mouse to do repetitive tasks in videogames (like Runescape or New World), b) perform a musical instrument, c) perform a puppet show or a haunted horror show, d) pleasure a partner (in real-time or later, including possibly after you're dead), etc. Also: whether or not to make the hand look human;...

The purpose of this little entry room is to a) allow delivery men to put packages into the room so they don'...

Also: weird and questio...

Standup Comedy Discussion (Benjamin Cheek) 22.07.2022

A discussion about doing standup comedy and running a comedy room. Also: the pain of rejection when trying to get a venue to host your comedy show and to get people to come to your show; asking the audience of an in-person comedy show or a MeetMe livestream to donate to your CashApp as a joke, as racial reparations, or because they're lonely introverted men; advice for a nervous new comic who's on...

Mental Health Medication IUD (Mic Gimby) 14.07.2022

Idea: Mental health meds that can be inserted somewhere in your body like an IUD, so you don't have to take pills or deal with mental illness for long periods of time. Rethinking Traditional Social Events (Tom Walma) 09.07.2022

Ideas to make boring traditional social events better or at least less inconvenient, such as making them shorter, moving them to Sunday morning so they don't interfere with afternoon recreation activities, teleconferencing (for some of them), and some silly ideas like conducting baby/wedding showers and funerals through a drive-thru. Also: high school graduates going on a trip with their friends i...

Doppelganger Finder App (Allie Goodwich) 18.06.2022

Idea: An app to help you search for a doppelganger (i.e. someone who looks exactly like you) on the Internet, and if it finds someone (or if you see one, such as in an advertisement), it helps you get in contact with them, so you can meet up and do pranks and other fun stuff together.
