Consolation on SermonAudio

Two disciples talk on their way from Jerusalem to Emmaus. It's the morning Jesus rose from the dead. News of an empty tomb is getting around, but it's no consolation. Jesus was not there. Little did they know, he would join them on the road—their closest companion presenting as a stranger. What would Jesus say to these beleaguered disciples? What would they say to this "stranger" about him? And wh...

The sermon explores the theological concept of Jesus as the eternal high priest who continually intercedes for believers in heaven. By examining the context of Hebrews and Romans, the speaker argues that Christ's ongoing prayer life ensures the believer's perseverance and final salvation. This divine intercession provides strong consolation against fears of apostasy, anchoring faith in God's immut...

Teaching Sermon

Consider the source of your salvation and your assurance. If our salvation were a cooperative effort between God and man, how could this provide a strong encouragement? Salvation and its assurance would be reduced to "You will not be lost if *you*… If God's promises depended on us, we are without any consolation at all. What we think we have today may vanish tomorrow. Even the chain of salvation i...

How do we respond to a society in decay? In Psalm 12 we see David's cry, not of despair, but of prayer. We see his consolation in God who hears and acts, and his confidence that though things are bad, God will work. Our confidence is ultimately in Christ's return, though he may choose to act in revival before that.

The sermon centers on the urgent call to Christian unity rooted in the humility of Christ, drawing from Philippians 2:1–13 as a blueprint for relational harmony and spiritual maturity. It emphasizes that true unity is not mere uniformity but a shared purpose grounded in the believer's union with Christ, evidenced through consolation, comfort, communion, and compassion. The highest motive for this...

Php 2:1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Php 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Php 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Php 2:4 Look not every man...
