Cinematic Leap

For our first episode of season 5 we start back in the 80s with classic musical comedy from 1980  The Blues Brothers . We leapt here from  Three Amigos  with costume designer Deborah Nadoolman Landis.

Join us for a quick chat about what we thought of our most recent season, what we would change or re-rate, and our highlights and lowlights of the season.

For our 2024 Halloween special this year we take a look at 2016 zombie horror Train to Busan . We hope you enjoy.

For our last leap of the season Scott leaps with casting person Jackie Burch to absolute classic 1986 film Three Amigos starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Chevy Chase. Is this as funny as we all remember, almost 40 years later. We find out and discuss. We hope you enjoy!

Finally! We did it. After 106 episodes Scott has finally been able to leap to a film he’s been wanting to discuss here since day one. This week we leap with Bruce Willis to 1998 Chirstmas classic  Die Hard . Are the rest of us into it as much as Scott? Listen and find out. We hope you enjoy.

This week we leap with Owen Wilson to classic 1998 sci-fi/action disaster film Armageddon . Scott brings us here with the first of his three leaps. Does this film hold up? We discover this and more and hope you enjoy this episode.

Something a bit lighter this week as we leap to 2011 romantic comedy  Midnight In Paris  for the last of Glenn’s three films. A favourtie of Glenn’s, but unseen my Scott and Mike… what will they think? We leapt here with cinematographer Darius Khondji.

This week we leap to 2002 David Fincher thriller  Panic Room . This film stars Jodie Foster, a young Kristen Stewart, and the always great Forest Whittaker. This is Glenn’s second leap of his three and hopefully gets things back on track with a director and genre we all like… don’t we?

This week we stay in 2005, with another superhero film – this time superhero comedy  Sky High . Glenn leapt here with stunt person Heidi Moneymaker.

Mike’s third and final leap for the season is with Peter Stormare to 2005 superhero horror film  Constantine . We have journeyed all the way from 2006 back to 2005 with Mike’s three films this time and what a ride it’s been! While it may only feel like one year of cinema, we really journeyed from 480 BC, to early 1800s, to contemporary LA. Where will Glenn take us next?

This week we leap to Mike's second film choice of his three with Lena Headey to another historical film - but this time with fantasy and magic added - 2005 fantasy adventure The Brothers Grimm . This film also stars Matt Damon and Heath Ledger so opens up many interesting possibilities for Mike's final leap of the season!

This week for our 100th episode Michael takes us to a favourite film of his - 2006 action/adventure 300 . We leapt here with composer Tyler Bates.

This week we leap with Kevin Bacon to the 2010 superhero comedy/action film Super ! An interesting film with some mixed responses from us...

This week we take a giant leap to the classic Ron Howard historical space drama from 1995 Apollo 13 . We leapt here with cinematographer Dean Cundey. We hope you enjoy our review!

This week Scott shocks us all by picking average 2006 Christmas romance film The Holiday when leaping with Kate Winslet. We discuss this film and more and hope you enjoy.

This week we leap with director James Cameron to the biggest blockbuster of the 90s - Titanic. It has been 25+ years since this film was released. This is one of Glenn's favourites, but are Mike (who is not a fan of Leo) and Scott (who is generally not a fan of films over 2 hours) into it? Join us for this fun discussion and find out!

This week we leap with composer James Horner to one of Mike's favourite films - 1986 sci-fi Aliens . But what do the rest of us think of it, and do we regard as highly as many seem to?

This week we stay in 1994, leaping with stunt person Jim Dunn to the early Brad Pitt drama Legends of the Fall. We discuss how beautiful Brad Pitt’s hair is, and also talk a little bit about the film. Hope you enjoy.

This episode we leap with Point Break composer Mark Isham to the 1994 action sci-fi JCVD film Timecop . Join us as we discuss this fun but flawed film. We hope you enjoy.

For this episode we go further back in time to 1991 for classic action/surfing/bank robber film  Point Break . We leapt here with Tom Sizemore and had a lot of fun revisiting this classic. We hope you enjoy this episode.

This week we leap with Ewan McGregor to 2001 war film Black Hawk Down . Maybe not everyone's go-to film when they think of Ewan McGregor, but we go there anyway. Is Ewan convincing in this kind of role? We discuss this and more. Hope you enjoy.

For some reason we leap back to Michael Bay again - this time to 2005's sci-fi action thriller The Island . Join us as we discuss if this film is worth watching. It does have a great cast, but does that mean it's a great movie? We discuss this and more. Hope you enjoy.

This week we leap with composer James Newton Howard to Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx 2004 action thriller Collateral. Is this film as good as it seems? And how is Jamie Foxx clearly the main character but also supporting actor apparently according to Oscar nominations? We discuss this and more... We hope you enjoy.

This week we leap with Julia Roberts for the first time to 2007 war comedy Charlie Wilson's War . This is also the first time we've had the chance to discuss a Tom Hanks movie. With this cast, and an Aaron Sorkin script, surely we all loved it! Didn't we? Listen to find out...

How could we not leap with Spielberg?! This week we leap again with Steven to one of his many classics - this time to family film Hook starring Robin Williams. We discuss this interesting take on Peter Pan and the great Robin Williams. We hope you enjoy.
