BEHIND THE STUNTS

Send us Fan Mail A tail of double cross, intrigue and a very daft idea that didn't work but was tested for three weeks before filming commenced. Paul Newman stars and John Huston directs 'THE MACKINTOSH MAN' JIM ARNETT is the 2nd Unit Director, but we had so many UK stuntmen at the time on this picture that some of the sequences were probably handed out to others to coordinate. Enjo...

Send us Fan Mail Back in the 80s crimefighting was much simpler. In the UK we had 'The Bill'. Uniformed police operating out of a fictional Sun Hill police station fighting villains and crime across London. In LA they had TJ Hooker, going above and beyond the duties of a uniformed police officer to get the job done. It didn't matter what it took, he'd be prepared to do it, whic...

Send us Fan Mail We were only talking about his work for Pink Floyd last week. Send us Fan Mail Back in the good old days of great action TV and classic rock albums the lines could blur and the stunt business would be called in. In 1975 Pink Floyd released their album 'WISH YOU WERE HERE', a perfect mix of rock and political statement. In 1977 the TV series 'CHiPS' was screened for the first time. Two wheels of Motorcycle Highway Patrol chasing the bad gu...

Send us Fan Mail Stuntman Mike Runyard is a very familiar name in the business. He's a motorbike guy and has worked on many wonderful movies and TV shows over the years including 'To Live and Die In LA', 'Cobra', 'Hook' and 'Lethal Weapon 3', but he is probably best known for his work as stunt double to Michael Douglas. Their working relationship starte...

Send us Fan Mail We take a look at one of the most talked about moments from any Jackie Chan picture. The fall from the clock tower. How was it done? Why do we see two very different falls in the final take and another one over the end titles? Send us Fan Mail In 1975 a movie was made that didn't do the sort of business it was expected to do. The star was Joe Don Baker and he was riding high on the back of 'Walking Tall'. Forty years later its made a bit of a comeback...oh, not the movie....the stunt we look at today. A train crash with a difference. Lets take a look and then explore the rest on Friday. Send us Fan Mail Turns out that its 50yrs since Evel Knievel attempted to jump 13 buses at Wembley Stadium in May of 1976...it didn't go according to plan and recently I've seen a number of posts telling me that Evel was the greatest 'stuntman' who ever lived....I beg to differ.... Send us Fan Mail I am joined by stuntman ELLIOTT COOPER who performed a brilliant 'gag' in the movie 'The Beekeeper' and earned himself a Taurus World Stunt Award nomination. I incorrectly credited his fall to someone else...stuntman HARRY MACKANGA who won the award for Hardest Hit.  Luckily Elliott is a lovely guy and was happy to chat about it and how his stunt was created. Send us Fan Mail Apart from having one of the great movie themes ever, its also a wonderful example of the excellent work of the stunt double. Send us Fan Mail A celebration of silly. The magnificent Leslie Neilson as Lt Frank Drebin, saving the world as only he knows how. Assisted by stunt coordinator CONRAD PALMISANO the action is slick and very funny, but in order for it to look this good it must be worked out to the last detail. Send us Fan Mail Two stuntmen from the US who've been in the business for 6-7yrs now and who are doing everything they can do to be as good as they can be. Both can currently be seen in the movie 'No Address' https://youtu.be/xPeBmvI0cS8?si=vNmwWihhzUE5g9kJ where they are part of the stunt team and take on acting roles.
