AfroBrit Ramblings

Welcome to AfroBrit. This podcast is about the many alleys of life and life lessons. Being AfroBrit, the two cultures result in growth, and a few chuckles and middle-aged ramblings. The intent is to create a platform for the voiceless to discuss mental health and invisible illnesses. As a person who has reinvented herself from a nervous breakdown, depression and living with autoimmune illness to a best-selling author, you get a seat in the women elders counsel 😉 giving a platform for the voiceless.

The seasons of Silence 30.11.2018

Many times we go through periods of silence and don't know what to do with ourselves. There is a time to speak and a time to be silent. The winter months force us to take time out to reflect; while the autumn months shed what is not necessary. Embrace these seasons in your life.

Who is in the duvet with you? 23.11.2018

As the seasons change in your life, one needs to shed things that don't serve you anymore. We hold on to people due to obligation, need that is unhealthy and sometimes we just want them in our lives. The weight and value of your relationship is based on time, communication and availability. In crisis you will learn who is for you and who is with you for what you have

Shame in Your story 16.11.2018

Many times we have been afraid to share our stories because of judgement. I am there and as I cross the T's and I's of my book, I am afraid. Yet in the many pages, nights and hours put in, how do I overcome this feeling. Shame comes from the fear of another's opinion of your story. Unless the hunted tell the story, the hunter remains the victor.

Be Still 14.11.2018

Living with a mental illness or a physical illness like fibromyalgia will leave you feeling like you take 2 steps forward and 10 step backwards.
