In Luke 9 we read about the sentness of 12.  In Luke 10, a greater number is sent.  What instructions, what preparation does Jesus give them for being sent in this chapter?

Following Jesus isn't a deal where everything will be a-okay.  Following Jesus may have some steep costs associated with it.  Are you ready to pay that price?

Jesus challenges us to take up our cross, to deny ourselves, to follow Him.  He demonstrates that not everything we face can be explained physically or psychologically.  We also deal in the spiritual world.  Will we follow?  Will we share Christ with others?  Will we learn to live in the 4th dimension of the spiritual realm?

Luke 9 is loaded with Words and Works of Jesus meant to completely underscore that He IS the Messiah.  Will we trust Him?

Jesus has provided all kinds of reasons to trust him.  Do you?

When Jesus sent the 12, and when he sent the other 72, what were his instructions?  What do we learn about faith and evangelism through these passages? 

Jesus can heal.  Jesus can raise the dead.  Jesus can transform lives.  Faith activates God's action.  Faith brings life-change.  For what do you need to trust God today?

Who is our most precious family? Sometimes, it isn't our flesh and blood; it's those most invested in our lives.  How does faith transform us? That depends on who you trust. 

As Christians, we are called to plant the seeds and send the light of the Gospel, how do we do that?  How much fruit can we bear?

Women played a key role in the ministry of Jesus and in the early church. If you are a woman, be a woman of influence in your service and support of the Gospel. 

Some were curious as to whether Jesus was actually the Christ.  His actions and His words proved Him such.  John and Jesus had vastly different approaches, but the same message pointing people to the same truth - the Kingdom of God is at hand in Jesus, Repent and turn to Jesus.

God looks at the hearts of people.  He responds with compassion to hearts of faith rooted in humility.

Jesus' life and teaching was so vastly different than what the people were used to.  What did Jesus do and what did Jesus say that we need to learn from and implement in our own lives?  Do we, as modern Christians, measure up to the standard both exemplified and taught by Jesus?

Sometimes, our religious practices get in the way of righteous, compassionate living.  Don't let your religion get in the way of living righteously, joyfully, or compassionately.

Within the calling of Levi the tax collector, we realize a key evangelistic and disciplemaking principle that we should work in our already existing relational streams.  How much more could be accomplished if more of us reached-out with the Gospel to people we already know?

How are we to reach out?  To whom?  How can we reach others personally?  How can we reach others corporately?  What is the church to do?

When the first disciples left everything to follow Jesus, what did He do with them?  They went off to a seminary, right?  WRONG!  He provided them with His own model and with on-the-job training.  There are a whole bunch of lessons to be gleaned from just 5 verses today.

Jesus had already done some things to convince people of just who He was.  Yet, He knew to meet people where they are to convince them where they needed convincing, so He could call them to greater followership.  He isn't just looking for Christians, He is looking for followers. Is there a difference between being a Christian and being a follower?  Should there be a difference?

Jesus modeled a ministry of multiplication.  If we will have the mentality of Jesus, we will always think multiplication.  If we follow the model of Jesus, we will always work toward multiplication.

Is some of what we see labeled as mental or emotional illness actually demonization?  Does God intend to heal everyone? Were some of the miracles Jesus' performed meant to authenticate His message?  Let's consider those questions as we work through the text.

The beginning of Jesus' ministry offers insights from both the example of Jesus and the words of Jesus that can strengthen us.  Keys like living in Holy Spirit Power, like the work Jesus came to do to set us free, and like the fact that if we follow Jesus, not everyone will be thrilled with our choice.

John the Baptizer and Jesus arrived on the scene on months apart, both in birth and in ministry.  Today, we look at the transition from a focus on John to a focus on Jesus, as well as the temptation account of Jesus.

What can we learn about the approach and message of John the Baptizer that forms our view of Jesus and how we should live our own lives?

What is the significance of John the Baptizer?  What do we learn from his birth, boyhood, and early ministry?  How does all of this help us grow in our understanding of Jesus?
