Sisterhood at River Valley Church

In the beginning of Acts 6 when the number of believers were increasing, the original 12 disciples chose seven men to help manage the tasks and organization of the church. Stephen was chosen as one of these seven men as one of the first deacons of the early Christian church. “This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit…” Acts 6:5, NIV Semes...

The name of Jesus is the most powerful name in all of heaven and earth. Throughout the Bible and history, we see the name of Jesus casting out demons, healing the sick, raising the dead, bringing about peace, and instilling heroic courage. “‘Then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that th...

Boldness is important to our lives because Jesus came to seek and save the lost and that’s our mission too! We are called to go into all the world and preach the gospel: to our neighbors, to our family and friends and across the world. We are called to shine Christ’s light, but we cannot do this in our own strength or with our own words. “After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was sh...

We know that God’s heart is for everyone to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and live in an authentic, personal relationship with Him. The Father intends for all people everywhere to experience His supernatural power at work in their lives! How does God accomplish this plan? Through His Church, the body of Christ, empowered by His Holy Spirit. “And when they had entered, they went up into th...

We're continuing our study through Luke's Gospel with the realization and understanding that the Kingdom of Heaven is not faraway, but here and now.  Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; nor will they say ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke...

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” Luke 19:9-10, ESV   With 11 campuses meeting each week...

As we close our study in Hebrews, today we'll focus on three main things. First, how to truly fix your eyes on Jesus. Second, the truth of the JOY that He endured the cross for. And finally, that He truly is all we need and more than enough! Hebrews 12:2 (NIV)  …fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. In Week 2 of our study we learn that the Bible instructs us to enter God’s presence with boldness. (15) For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin...

Regardless of what current cultural contexts say, submission to authority is discussed in the Bible, which means God wants your eyes on his words around it, your mind to consider what that means for you, and for your heart to submit to His will and His authority. Ephesians 5:20b-24, 32 NKJV ...giving thanks always for all things to God the Father, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting t...
