SciFi TV Rewatch

In this the first of our new mini-casts, Dave takes a look at a genre series missed the first time around. Now recognized by many critics as the top scifi television series of all time, Battlestar Galactica set the bar incredibly high.

Wayne, Dave, and special guest Sally take a look at the development of the "doctor to the fae," Lauren Lewis aka Karen Beattie. Doctor, scientist, hero, lover; few characters in the Lost Girl universe engender as much interest as the blonde half of the Doccubus relationship.

Dave and Wayne examine the Blood King's transition from simple barkeep in the early episodes to a tortured soul in constant turmoil because of the power he wields. The S07E13 finale of Doctor Who raises just as many questions as it provides answers. Six months after broaching the subject, Dave and Wayne finally discuss the pilot episode of the BBC's supernatural show Being Human. Throw in a little Lost Girl chit chat, and the guys are rolling again even though the season 4 premiere is likely over six months away in Canada and close to a year in the US. Timing 0:00 - 13:29  Intro 13:30 - 24:42  Lost Girl chat 24:43 - 46:16  Pilot Preview/Being...

We can't thank you guys enough for sending in your thoughts, comments and predictions. Without them, this show wouldn't have been possible. In the third season finale, Bo and Tamsin work together to rescue Dyson, leaving Lauren wondering about her status with Bo and the rest of the light fae community. Though he steps down as The Ash, Hale survives, and Trick travels to Scotland with Stella until the situation calms down. Dave and Wayne take a look at the series premiere of the much anticipated scifi drama Defiance. Timing 0:00 - 12:4...

Wayne and I would like to put together a Fan Feedback Show, so that the listeners can pat Wayne on the back once again for correctly predicting something or other AND tell us what you think about Season 3 of Lost Girl and where you think it's headed next. You can record your own mp3 and send it to us, use the Speakpipe tool on the website, or shoot us an email at faetalistspodcast@gmail.com. Deadl...

What wasn't in this episode? Hale's inauguration as Ash of the light fae goes awry, and The Morrigan seizes the opportunity to grab control amidst a human plot to tamper with the delicate balance between human and fae. Wayne and Dave discuss their favorite questing films as we head into the season finale. Timing 0:00 - 8:14  Intro 8:15 - 13:52  Scifi news 13:53 - 16:14  Project X (Wayne's Fae o' t...

Lost Girl meets Desperate Housewives in this return to Bo and Kenzi as girl investigators helping a young girl that doesn't know she's fae. Lauren and Bo's break may become longer than Bo thought as the doc accepts a job offer from a character whose motives remain unclear. Wayne and Dave return to Pilot Previews with a look at BBC's exciting new scifi drama Orphan Black. Timing 0:00 - 17:00 Introd...

As Bo reflects on her experiences with The Dawning, Tamsin's duplicitous behavior becomes even murkier when we learn she's essentially a bounty hunter that's after Bo. Who she works for remains unclear. Dave and Wayne discuss some more great feedback from listener Sally, but all in all, "Delinquents" leaves us all a tad bit hungry. Timing 0:00 - 8:33  Intro 8:34 - 14:49  Scifi news 14:50 - 19:10 ...

The most significant hurdle of Bo's life finally arrives as she embarks on the next step of the journey to self-actualization. Though Kenzi returns to her previous form, it's Tamsin and Dyson who accompany Bo through the most arduous stages of The Dawning. Dave reads some listener email, and Wayne waxes poetic. No, really. He reads poetry. On the air. Really. Timing 0:00 - 6:53 Intro 6:54 - 13:43...

Okay, it's not Bram Stoker. Heck, it's not even Twilight, but Wayne and I both agree that we might give the show a second chance especially in light of Supernatural's success and the success of our favorite network, The CW. Stripped from an earlier episode of Faetalists, we hope you enjoy this tidbit as we work to get out the next review of our FAVORITE show, Lost Girl. Timing 15:15

And so the journey begins, but not without a few bumps in the road. Bo returns home to make peace with her mother while Kenzi claims she's not ready to talk about her underground imprisonment. Dyson essentially proclaims his love for Bo and states he's willing to wait however long it takes for them to be together. Timing 0:00 - 5:41 Intro 5:42 - 15:52 Scifi news 15:53 - 21:59 Project X (Wayne's Fa...

Only Bo seems to know that Kenzi's not Kenzi, but ends up imprisoned until the unlikeliest of candidates springs her from her bondage and helps her find the "real" Kenzi. Meanwhile, the doc plays it a bit too clinically and may have doomed the relationship that's had LG fans cheering for weeks now. Will the experimental light/dark cop duo dynamic take an unexpected turn? Check out Wayne's chart fo...

Look for Wayne and I to revisit this extremely popular show from our favorite network, The CW, but for now, here's our first take of the show that's been renewed for a ninth season. Timing 11:20

The gang pays a visit to a sex club hosted by the Roman god Bacchus, but Bo is once again under suspicion after the body of her one night stand turns up in a ditch. Something's terribly wrong with Kenzi, and a mysterious phone call at episode's end raises a new question. Wayne and Dave discuss a Top Ten Genre Guest Stars list, but of course have trouble counting to ten. Timing 0:00 - 6:25  Intro 6...

With this, the initial published standalone, we introduce a new segment for fans who desire a tasty morsel. Culled from an earlier episode of Faetalists, Wayne, Dave and Danielle examine the pilot of the FX original series American Horror Story starring Jessica Lange, Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton. I think we all agree, this is one creepy experience. Timing 20:49

The girls are in trouble in this episode as Kenzi cries out for help, but finds that no one's listening. Is the Bo/Lauren relationship in trouble already? Is a Hale/Trick showdown imminent? Are Dyson and Tamsin really going out partying together? Timing 00:00 - 06:59  Intro and chit chat 07:00 - 17:26  Scifi news 17:27 - 22:03  Project X (Wayne's fae o' the week) 22:04 - 1:00:00  Episode analysis...

The Morrigan tries to even an earlier score with Bo, and Kenzi is temporarily  thrust into a superhero role. As the new Ash, Hale must make a name for himself as he tries to hold together a tenuous peace despite The Morrigan's best attempts to create mayhem. Lauren and Kenzi finally talk it out, and once again, Wayne sings. Timing 00:00 - 9:19  Introduction and chit chat 9:20 - 20:23  Scifi and fa...

Everybody has a new partner in this episode that finds the gang exploring the sewers looking for the Alligator Man and a group of underground fae infected with disease. Vex is working with Kenzi, Dyson's new partner Tamsin makes a bold entrance, and Bo and the Doc finally push the outside world away long enough to begin a relationship that seems doomed from the start. Wayne and Dave make some pred...

Season 3 begins with an homage to women's prison films as Bo finds herself in Hecuba Prison under the watchful eyes of a tribe of Amazons. We have a new Ash and a new couple. Wayne and Dave introduce two new segments, "Really? Really?" and "Predictions" and transplant an old one.

The last two installments of the Season 2 trilogy/finale leave The Garuda dead, Trick despondent, Dyson in love, Kenzi wounded, and Bo in control as a leader to be feared. However, we just don't know which side she's controlling. Wayne and Dave talk about the unanswered questions heading into Season 3 and make a prediction or two.

Sorry about the audio quality, but we hit the home stretch of Season Two with "Fae-nted Love," "Truth and Consequences," and  "Lachlan's Gambit." Not one but two major players die in service to their clan, and Wayne and Dave discuss the Doctor Who Christmas Special.

The genie and the bottle myth is explored in "Midnight Lamp" as Ryan Lambert comes to Bo's rescue, but it's Wayne's favorite character, The Morrigan, who shows up in "Table For Fae" and leads Kenzi to agree to the proverbial "deal with the devil." We wrap up with "School's Out" and "The Girl Who Fae'd With Fire," the latter providing some much needed background of the noble families.

Tonight's show features "Can't See the Fae-Rest," "Masks," and "Barometz, Tick, Pressure." We finally learn the source of the impending evil, and that Lachlan may not be the bad guy we all thought he was. Despite the fact that Bo's being pushed to the front line in the coming war, she's still unlucky in love though others around her have been striking gold.
