Note; references to 'chapter-headings' and 'sub-headings' relate to the author's book "What is Man? Adam, alien or ape?" on which this episode is largely based. This episode examines the historicity of Adam and Eve, asking 1) were they were real people, 2) what was the nature of the Garden of Eden narrative, and 3) why does the Bible insists on a literal first couple? We explore theological themes...

Surveying the historical evidence for Jesus of Nazareth, and the way he fulfilled Old Testament prophecies, we present arguments for his deity and miraculous incarnation and examine his unmatched moral teaching and other central claims such as powers to heal, rise from the dead, and bestow eternal life. We consider the life-changing significance of these things for us today. From a previous year ....

This lecture explores the biblical concept that humans are specially created in the image and likeness of God, drawing on Genesis and a clear illustration to show what "image" means. It highlights three shared attributes—spirituality, the mind, and language—and explains how these set humanity apart from animals, carry moral responsibility, and point to our unique role and destiny.

In this lecture we explore the biblical concept that humans are created in the image and likeness of God. We read Genesis 1 and explain what "image of God" means. Using a baby-and-doll illustration, we shows that humans share certain attributes with God—especially spirituality, mind, and language—while remaining distinct from animals. The talk highlights the implications of this identity: human di...

The book of Judges records the chaotic period Israel's history that followed the death of Joshua, during which the nation entered a period of cyclic rejection of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to worship the evil Canaanite deities. But true to His promises, YAHWEH kept Israel from spiritual disaster by sending "Judges" who restored the nation to genuine faith following each period of apostasy...

Revisiting Luke 15's parable of the prodigal son, we examine the symbolism of the four gifts father bestows on his shamed and repentant son when he returns in humility to cast himself on his father's mercy. We examine these four gifts; the robe of royalty; the ring of authority, sandals (worn only by the privileged), and the fatted calf (killed only when the firstborn son marries). We see how thes...

Throughout our study of the Book of Esther we have insisted that its chief spiritual message (and thus the reason for its inclusion in the Bible) is that God is sovereign over the history of mankind ... Genuine Christians have the unique ability to be poor and rich at the same time. We are speaking, of course, about spiritual entities, not material ones. We insert the word "genuine" because in every age there are nominal believers who have no personal knowledge of God. This podcast demonstrates that God sent the prophet Isaiah to expose the spiritual bankruptcy of ancient Israel, call them to rep...

We revisit the account of Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, humbly seated on a donkey, and show how it was predicted in detail by old testament prophecy, proving that the Rabbi Jesus of Nazareth was indeed the long promised Messiah. In this sermon we discover seven such predictions that not only demonstrate the reliability of old testament prophecy but also glorify Jesus as the prophet, pries...

Though under house arrest for two years (Acts 28:22–31), Paul proclaims Christ and the kingdom “with all boldness and without hindrance.” Luke deliberately leaves Acts open‑ended (for example, there is no reference to Paul's final trial and execution) to show that the mission to the ends of the earth is 'unfinished business' and we today must imitate the Apostle in his unavoidable commitment to pr...

The outcome of the Council of Jerusalem was to vindicate totally the gospel that Paul preached among the Gentiles. Believers in Christ, whether Jew or Gentile, are justified by their faith and neither the requirements nor the provisions of the old covenant apply to them. Circumcision and “the law of Moses” have no place in the scheme of salvation, except as pictures of the spiritual truth revealed...

We gather with Paul at he Council of Jerusalem as he confronts his Judaizing opponents, who sought to bind Gentile believers to the Mosaic covenant. (Galatians 2:3-5, Chapter 6 of "Free in Christ"). The Apostle contends powerfully that adding circumcision and works to the gospel of free grace threatens the new covenant and the doctrine of salvation by faith alone. He uses his Gentile companion Tit...
