Crossroads - Weekend Messages

I love it when things end on a high note. There is just something so beautiful when things end well and with great fanfare. Unfortunately, that is not the case with Jesus’ seven letters to the seven churches in Revelation 2-3. After the great excitement of the church in Philadelphia, these letters end with a scathing challenge to the church in Laodicea. This church is struggling in a big way, alth...

The word “break” has interesting uses. Often we say “I need a break” and other times we say to our kids “Don't play with that or it will break.” Whether we want to convey our need for rest or want to express caution over something fragile, the word break has little to no application when combined with the word faith. Where do we find an example of unbroken faith? How do we develop such faith? What...

Have you ever wondered what your purpose is? Have you asked why you’re here, and whether there is more to life than the day-to-day grind? It’s only natural. But God’s answer – His “big idea” for humankind – may be a lot different than we think it is. And it strikes at the very core of who we believe God is and who He really is. Join us this Sunday to explore The Glory of God.

There is nothing more amazing than to see a church fulfilling the will of God. They have their eyes fixed on Jesus. They are fully aware that they are anointed and appointed to do specific things that Jesus ordains. And then they are getting at the work of ministry with faith, hope and love. The church in Philadelphia, in Revelation 3, is that church. And this is the church that we want to model o...

Our culture has a fascination with zombies. There is a steady stream of movies that come out where humanity has to fight against the living dead. We even see trucks with bumper stickers letting us know that the driver is part of the “Zombie Outbreak Response Team.” At the very least, a zombie is something that is dead but looks alive. Unfortunately, a church can be like this. Sure they meet togeth...

In every season in the life of the people of God, there are certain things that Jesus is wanting us to understand. He loves us and desires to transform us into His image. Whenever we become more like Jesus, we are experiencing, at street level, the holiness of Jesus. It is truly His holiness, which He has chosen to share with us. But what happens when we choose things that Jesus doesn’t want? We b...

Jesus died and rose again, and poured out His Spirit, so that the church may be salt and light in this world. Both of those images, salt, and light, show something that has a positive and important impact on something else. But the church has always struggled with becoming too identified with its host culture. And when the light is hidden, or the salt loses its flavor, it can’t serve its God-given...

Sometimes life is messy. Unfortunately, there are other times when life is downright brutal. The Church in Smyrna was experiencing brutal persecution. The kind that we read about in books that we cannot even fathom. Jesus, their Lord and Savior, knew everything that this church was going through. And Jesus wanted to encourage and build up this broken church. And there is much that we can learn fro...

As Christians, we love reading the epistles in the New Testament, as the Lord uses His apostles to help guide local churches. Many people do not realize that Jesus Himself inspired seven letters to seven churches in Revelation 2-3. We will be seeing Jesus’ letter to the Church in Ephesus, where Jesus invites them to make sure their love for Him is the priority.

God wants us to live out the story of Jesus. Jesus came on a rescue mission to save us from our sin, but he also came so that we could have an abundant life. In the letter to the church in Philippi the Apostle Paul gives us some practical steps we can take to learn what it means to live out the story of Jesus in our lives to be transformed in Jesus’ name and live the abundant life.

It is easy to take things for granted. We know that we shouldn’t, but unfortunately, in the busyness of life, it happens. Our families and friends, our present blessings and circumstances, where we are on life’s journey can all be taken for granted. And it is all too easy to take Jesus for granted. And not only the blessings and gifts He brings, but often who Jesus is. As we continue our series th...

For many years we have been looking forward to this! We are starting a journey through one of the most complicated and controversial books in the Bible: the Revelation of Jesus Christ. There are many, many important lessons to be learned. As we begin this journey, the most important lesson is that the Book of Revelation is not primarily about the end of the world, the AntiChrist, or the Mark of th...
