Alternate Ending - Movie Review Podcast

Christmas ( or whatever holiday makes you giddy with glee ) came early here at Alternate Ending. We're joined by one of our favorite humans, Catherine Clark!  You may have seen some of her writing contributions on ae.com, but she's also an artist, film producer and officially the best cat Mom on the planet ( don't tell Tim ). If there was a contest for the person in our lives who would be the leas...

It was a movie-palooza on this week's episode of Pass the Popcorn! Carrie brings her thoughts on Barbarian and by the request of Patreon supporter Brian Fowler, commiserates with Tim on her adoration for Smiles of a Summer Night . Brennan and Tim take their hits on the newest nun-horror flick Prey for the Devil and takes a quick turn to the life and times of Al Yankovic as captured in Weird: The A...

It's Halloween! - so to celebrate, we're doing a deep dive into horror. Specifically the squishy, gooey, gross-out side of horror as we discuss our top 5 gory movies. Cannibals, zombies, particularly messy vampires - if it's accompanied by a whole fuckload of red-dyed Karo syrup, we're going to be splashing around in all of its revolting excess. There will, as the fella said, be blood. Especially,...

This week, Brennan and Tim are turning their attention to one of the most mysterious objects in cinema history: a prequel to The Turn of the Screw starring Marlon Brando as Peter Quint and Stephanie Beacham as Miss Jessel. Listen as they try to pin down what the hell it even is, let alone how to review it.   Love the Podcast? Leave us a review! Follow Alternate Ending on Twitter  and Instagram   F...

On this week's episode we answer all of your probing questions. How did Carrie survive 2 weeks with Rob "away"? Was Rob really "away" or have Carrie and Tim secretly chopped him into bits and hid him in the floor boards? Why do we keep putting "away" in quotes? Find out when we're joined by an extra special guest to tell all - tune in! ----------------------------------------------------- Love the...

This week, Carrie, Tim, and Brennan get together for a conversation about the best movies to get you into the Halloween spirit! But first of all, a Worth Mentioning roundup of three films that probably won't: HALLOWEEN ENDS, HOCUS POCUS 2, and LYLE LYLE CROCODILE! This episode is seeded throughout with some of the best Carrie stories you've ever heard, so keep your ears peeled.   *****************...

The lead-up to Halloween has begun, so Tim and Brennan are covering adaptations of one of Western literature's most seminal ghost stories: The Turn of the Screw, starting with the 1961 Deborah Karr classic THE INNOCENTS!   Love the Podcast? After the tragic loss of our original episode audio, we're a little late this week but Carrie and Tim did their best to lick their wounds and rally to re-record our Fall 2022 favorites episode! In worth mentioning, Carrie brings the new "low budget" high-tower thriller Fall and Tim tries to sell Carrie on the recently released horror flick Smile . Tune in! *****************************************...

One of our favorite episodes of the year is here - where we sit down to debate the merits of the best of the Summer! It was an odd episode, overflowing with mayhem for may reasons, including ( but not limited to ) Carrie taking the reins as host and having the most overlap with Tim's picks for the season than ever before.  How will Tim react? Well, you'll just have to tune in to find out! Rob Top...

In 1985, when the first Fletch film was released in theaters, Marcia Gay Harden was a broke NYU grad student who was still 5 years away from her breakout role in Miller's Crossing . In the subsequent 37 years, Lady Marcia Gay Harden (inside joke you'll have to listen to understand) has racked up not only over 120 film and tv credits, but an Academy and Tony Award. But, as she tells it, her proudes...

It's a bit of a hodgepodge this week here at AE - lots of feelings about movies, theaters, streaming services, return to work, X-rated film reviews and more! We had a real gift bag in worth mentioning this week, too!  Thanks to Patreon Julian DeBerry, we get to enjoy the peace and calm that comes with 1985's Soviet war film Come and See. Ann Yourell had us also exploring the debatably racist Frenc...

Thanks to Oscar-level Patreon member Johnzilla, this month is all about dinosaurs! We're kicking things off the only right way, which is to discuss the Roger Corman production CARNOSAUR, which was rushed into production to compete with Jurassic Park, complete with Laura Dern's mom as the villain!   Love the Podcast? This episode, thanks to  Patreon supporter Carl Beasley, we're taking a look at the phenomenon of the cliffhanger ending, in which a story ends on a moment of greatest tension and excitement, the better to make sure we're good and excited for the next entry. If there is another entry? Or maybe we're left mourning the unknown.... Rob Top 5:  1. Inception  2. Back to the Future - Part II  3. The Emp...

This week, Carrie, Tim, and Brennan honor the djinn at the center of THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING by sharing their Top 5 Films We Wish More People Would Watch! An added wrinkle? Which films do each host think sound the best from each other's lists?   Brennan Top 5:  Ballad of a Soldier Hasta el viento tiene miedo 100 Bloody Acres I Give It a Year Baaghi 3 Carrie Top 5:  Sliding Doors The Father...

Remake month is drawing to a close, and Tim and Brennan have set upon a film that neither of them have seen before: 1990's NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD! After procrastinating on actually discussing the topic at hand, they break down exactly why this movie exists and try to figure out why it doesn't ever quite meet its lofty goals.   Love the Podcast? Well, I'd like to say that Carrie, Tim and Rob are all back this week because the madness of Summer has come to an end, but that wouldn't be true, the madness of Fall is just upon us! Nevertheless, we did find the first week in a month that all of us were either healthy and in cell-phone range and we couldn't be happier about it.  The only thing that could possibly spoil this reunion euphoria is h...

This week, Tim and Brennan are doing another solo episode while Rob and Carrie travel back from vacation! In Worth Mentioning, we cover two very different films about famous musical acts: Elvis (2022) and Can't Stop the Music (1980). Then we dive into a conversation about the medium of television: where it was, where it is now, and why Tim doesn't like most of it.   *******************************...

This week, Tim is joined by Brennan and Mandy, as Rob and Carrie are out of town. This week, Tim and Brennan have taken the reigns and are navigating a solo episode! After Worth Mentioning, the pair dive into a wide-ranging (read: easily distracted) conversation about '80s slashers, retro throwbacks, and what other trends are cropping up in the modern horror film!   ***************************************************************** Love the Podcast?  Leave us a review ! This week's episode is coming to you a week late, and for that we apologize. Though, fiesty-ness levels are high due to lack of sleep and new-phone-setup drama, so maybe we're not sorry. From just plain defining "aliens" to just generally attacking each other for our alien preferences, the episode gets a little snappy. But we'll let you decide, are Avatar's really aliens? Is Yoda just a really old...

It's time to put zombie month to bed with a film that is an old classic for Tim and a new enemy of Brennan's: the early Spanish zombie movie TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD!. Carrie and Rob catch-up on the world of streaming. Rob shares his big concerns about the future of cinema and Carrie squashes them with her certainty that "things always seem to work themselves out." In worth mentioning, we review Demons 2 and Grave of the Fireflies.  We will never forgive our patrons for the misery they've caused us. Tune in! ******************************************************...
