Where is Jake AT

Day 10: Officially at double digit days and 120+ miles in. We think our trail legs are starting to come in as 15 milers are a lot easier than they used to be. Shane has officially joined the tramily (trail name pending)!

Day 9: Franklin, NC after a cold morning hike was just what the doctor ordered! Cold beer, good food, and a warm bed (thanks Smokey!) really boosted our spirits. Back at it tomorrow headed for the NOC!

Day 8: NC is already rocking it! Amazing views and fun climbs. Tomorrow we get our first real test BUT can’t wait to hang at a hotel with the Tramily.

NORTH CAROLINA!!! We made it to our second state. Border beers ensued. We had our first real “AT” weather day. The tramily is coming together. The rollercoaster continues!

Day 6: The Zeroest Nero (near Zero, aka few miles on trail) ever at Around the Bend Hostel was the perfect chance to get to know the LEGENDARY thru-hiker Two Spoons. Enjoy getting to know my first trail friend.

Day 5: A big day for Two Spoons, Dave from NC, and the ole Jakester! We climbed three 4,000 footers and covered 15.5 miles. Trail Magic appeared again and I enjoyed my first alcohol on trail!

Day 4 was an easy day, and I needed it! We crossed mile 50 and are nearing on the first town stop of the trip. Things are looking up for me as I continue to adjust to life on trail.

Day 3 started with an amazing view at the top of Blood Mountain and the realization of just how monumental the road ahead is. It was a tough day - I cried OK!! But I know this is part of the process and if it stick to it, I’ll be alright.

Trail Magic! Highs! Lows! New Friends? The Appalachian Rollercoaster is setting in. I need to embrace it and today was a good reminder of that.

It’s official! I’m finally on the AT. Everything is going OK so far. Fifteen or so miles today and my legs feel pretty good as of this evening. Time will tell!

Officially *near* the AT! After a long drive and weather debacles, I’m finally ready to take the plunge.
