What We Wrote

Channel your inner Vari this week and let us drag you along to conversations that have nothing to do with you. No really, Vari. Why are you here? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Join us for another Trope Talk! This time we are talking about Love Triangles. Team Edward or Team Jacob? Team Gale or Team Peeta? Team Obvious Choice or Team Annoying Obstacle? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

A surprising amount of things happen in this chapter of Vari's. We get mystery lore drops on Kayne and we even get some development of our character relationships! Sort of... Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Cori has a plan. What is the plan? Don't know. Is it a good plan? Probably not. Thankfully, though, you do get an amusing anecdote of Emma and Esme's origin story to help past the time. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Jolly non-denominational celebration of your choosing! We have done a super special bonus Christmas episode to tide you over on our season break. And of course, what better book to talk about on our Christmas special than the Christmas special of books: A Court of Frost and Starlight! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Thanks to a slight technical glitch (Esme forgetting to hit record is a technical glitch) - we had to record large parts of this twice. Pray for us. In this episode Vari convalesces after her ordeal, after providing some much needed therapy to Cori, because Cori is a terrible friend. (Her own words). Hosted on Acast. Can you believe we have had two whole years of the What We Wrote Podcast?? This year we have done a special bonus episode - if you follow us on socials, you'll have seen our call out for your burning questions for us - and boy did you guys deliver! Thank you all for coming along on this crazy journey with us! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Suffer along with us as we go on Cori and Bran's first date. It's as awkward and cringey as you can imagine. There's also a fun side rant about the word 'Juxtaposition'. Trigger warning: Mentions of SA Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

The next installment of the ACOTAR series! This week, we read A Court of Wings and Ruin. We have... feelings. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Oh boy, it's getting real 'mangsty'. Don't worry about the war, we've found something much, much worse to focus on. TW: sexual assault - however poorly written. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It's a Cori chapter, so you know what that means! It's Rhetorical Question time! We do away with the plot as quickly as we can and move on to more fun and dramatic things, like kissing boys and going to the tavern to meet long lost fathers. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Join us this week as we talk about the wonderful book that is the Invisible Life of Addie La Rue by Emma's favourite author V.E. Schwab. You'll notice this episode is shorter than our other book review episodes because there's only so many ways you can say 'It's amazing!' before it starts getting old. Esme makes a half hearted attempt to play devil's advocate, but largely the votes are in. Note: W...

This week, things are heating up (again.). Kayne tries in vain to defend himself to Vari, and we are once more thrown in to this very battle heavy cold war. We also learn how NOT to triage. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week, we have plot development, thank god. Does it have anything to do with the war we've been dancing around since the beginning of the book? Of course not! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Woo, another Bonus episode! This week we are discussing the final installment in the Letters of Enchantment Duology by Rebecca Rosss, Ruthless Vows. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Rinse and repeat. Why come up with new ideas when you can have your characters have the same conversation over and over and over and over and over... So much so that we spend several minutes discussing what happened to the sheath of Vari's dagger. Believe it or not, that's probably the most exciting part of the episode! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

You could definitely skip this chapter, but you definitely shouldn't skip this episode. Because while absolutely nothing of note happens in Cori's chapter, your hosts Emma and Esme are delightful. They fill the empty void that is this chapter with some introspection on writing and troubles with progressing plot. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week, Vari takes a hit and we knuckle down on our miscommunication trope. Everyone's favourite trope! There is also a fleeting mention of the war. TRIGGER WARNING: Mentions of sexual assault Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

It's a Bonus Episode y'all! This week, we're starting our Trope Talk - and first off we're talking about the ultimate classic Enemies to Lovers. Join us as we chat about what we love and hate about this trope, our favourite examples and tips on how to write a successful Enemies to Lovers trope. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Grab your scarves and make yourself a hot chocolate, because it's getting cold! (Don't worry, you won't forget it, Cori will make sure of that.) This week, Cori travels further from the keep than she's ever been. You also may witness one of the earliest disagreements Emma and Esme have ever had in their writing career together. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Were you worried that you'd miss the end of the riveting conversation between Cori, Vari and Bran? Well don't worry, we pick up exactly where we left off! Vari finally bends to Cori's incessant begging and decides they are friends. Vari then gets (another) job, making her the street rat with the most impressive resume in the city. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Join us as we do away with the semblance of plot we had scratched together last week and instead drown in mundane conversations about who likes who, a la babysitter's club. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

You may have waited a little longer for this episode to come out, but you weren't waiting for this for as long as you've been waiting for the plot to happen in this book. Never fear, it looks like something is here! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week on Cori Wants a Friend, follow her once more as she aimlessly wanders around the castle and decides that she doesn't care if Vari and Bran can't stand her, she's going to be their friend anyway. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

This week we get more of Vari's backstory, just what you've all been waiting for! We get down to the real nitty-gritty, like how old can you be if you're a boat boy, and what is the chain of ownership on a ship? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
