Two Girls and a Grape

Season 3 kicks off with a powerhouse rose from Paso Robles producer Eric Jensen and his My Favorite Neighbor label. This episode, Jules and Drea celebrate their first anniversary, each other, and the start of rose season. Pairings include raw things, grilled things, summer nights, and allergies.

Episode 52 features a bottle of Muller Gruner Veltliner from Kremstel, Austria. Drea and Jules tell you all about their favorite things. Pairings include summer vegetables, picnics, bunnies, and Julie Andrews. 

Episode 51 features baller Dwayne Wade’s Wade Cellars 2020 rose. In this episode the girls play their own version of March Madness. Jules tells us all about the history of basketball and Drea is into it. Pairings include fritattas, oysters, and basketball jerseys.

For Episode 50, Jules and Drea go on a mountain retreat and drink Idlewild’s Flora and Fauna 2021 Red Blend in Idyllwild. The girls learn all about the Cal-Ital movement and the origins of a quaint mountain town. Pairings include hot survival tips, snacks, multiple heat sources, and a sanatorium.

In Episode 49 Jules and Drea celebrate a bloody Valentine’s Day with a crime inspired wine, Francis Ford Copolla’s The Vendetta 2015 Red Blend. The girls take a deep dive into the history of Prohibition turf wars and the rise of the Copolla wine empire. Pairings include gangster warfare, bad romance, and meat lover’s pizza. 

Episode 48: On this episode, Jules and Drea stay sober but go off the rails as they shake up some mocktails using Seedlip Garden 108. They discuss the history of the mocktail, contemplate being sober at a funeral, and discuss ways to create the perfectly balanced mocktail. Pairings include two mocktail recipes and a little white lie. 

On this episode, Jules and Drea explore the virtues of Dry January and sample a bottle of dealcoholized Alternativa Rosso. We discover that “dealcoholized” shouldn’t even be a word, we learn the difference between grape juice and dealcoholized wine, and realize that we should probably never stop drinking.  Pairings include a sugar detox, bad attitudes, and sadness. On this episode, we celebrate harvest season with wine club picks.  Up first is Drea’s pick, a skin contact Gruner Veltliner from Solminer in Los Olivos California. Pairings include some light Austrian history, meals appropriate for a full-bodied white wine, Die Hard, and basic bitch fall realness. 

On Episode 39 Jules and Drea welcome two very special guests - their husbands! The ladies issue a challenge to the gentlemen, play a not-so-newly wed game, and sample a Mascota Malbec from Argentina and an Uro Tinto del Toro from Spain.  Pairings include panic shopping, travel dreams, and marital fantasies.
