The UnSafe Bible

Has there ever been a point in your life where you knew nothing would be the same again? It could be the birth of your first child, getting married, or the beginning of your faith in Jesus. After an incredible event like that, you could never live the same. In history, Jesus' death marks a tipping point. Life could never be the same. Pastor Ken shows us today that Jesus' death was the death needed...

How well do you handle pressure? While coal thrives under pressure and becomes a diamond, a flower is obliterated and crushed. While on earth, Jesus was under immense pressure. The redemption of all humanity that had ever existed and ever would exist depended on his death and resurrection. As Pastor Ken shows us today though, he could handle the pressure. He was the only one who could do it. There...

When you buy someone a gift, are you good at keeping it a secret, or do you let the cat out of the bag with your own excitement? Gifts are great at stirring up anticipation for both the giver and the receiver. Today, Pastor Ken teaches us that God has something that stirs up great anticipation in Jesus. The scroll in God's right hand holds all the details about the end times, something that Jesus...

Do you ever take for granted the fact that you live in the 21st century? Electricity, plumbing, cars, internet, and heating are all things that weren't enjoyed by our ancestors. Spiritually speaking, you shouldn't take for granted that you live in the church age. Today Pastor Ken reminds us that we have an incredible advantage that those in the Old Testament did not have: access to God. Whenever a...

How would you describe color to someone who was born blind? Could you show a deaf person what the sound of the wind in the trees is like? How could you describe the glory of God to someone who has never seen it? This was the situation John found himself in. He was tasked to write down his experience in a way that those who had never seen it would understand. As Pastor Ken teaches us today, digging...

The Old and New Testaments are both needed to get the full picture of God's story of redemption. To ignore one in favor of the other is to miss out on insights and revelations about God and his love. As Pastor Ken looks at the book of Revelation today, there are many similarities to the Old Testament prophets and the visions that God gave them. John sees the same things that they saw but in more d...

What is the most awe-inspiring sight you have ever seen? An epic sunset? An amazing mountain view? Your spouse on your wedding day? As beautiful as all of those things are, they won't compare to the sight of God on his throne. Today Pastor Ken teaches that it won't just be an amazing sight, it's also a picture of his sovereignty and deity. This throne carries all the dominion and power of the enti...

Can you wrap your head around the concept that God has always existed? Probably not, and that's because God doesn't exist on our timeline. The way God sees time is altogether different from how we perceive it. Here in the book of Revelation, Pastor Ken shows us the mind-boggling time travel that John went through to receive his revelation from Jesus. We may think this is only possible in science f...

Have you ever seen a football player almost make it to the end zone, but they start celebrating too soon and get tackled? Or a marathon runner that ran an incredible time, but slowed at the finish line and took second instead? You can play a great game and run a great race and blow it all in the last few feet. We can do the same spiritually. Pastor Ken reminds us today that it's important to finis...

Nature takes the path of least resistance, and that path is always toward destruction. If you leave a piece of fruit on the counter too long, it becomes rotten. The longer a house stands, the more dilapidated it becomes. When left to their own devices, things don't get better, they slowly decay. Human beings are no different. Today Pastor Ken shows us this pattern is evident in the church as well....

When you're planning a road trip, you often have a few choices on how to get to your destination. Do you choose the shortest time, the shortest distance, or the route without tolls? Or do you pick the scenic route? Ultimately, it doesn't really matter, you will still arrive at the same destination. But as Pastor Ken teaches today, you can't have the same approach to eternal life. Spiritually speak...

Things often seem backward in the kingdom of God. Jesus said that the last would be first and the first would be last. Those who lose their lives are the ones who live. He also made it clear that those who were ahead financially were not necessarily ahead spiritually. The church at Laodicea didn't understand this concept. They were a rich congregation, able to afford whatever they wanted. They tho...

You don't have to be a college graduate to be used by God. You don't have to earn a certain amount or have a minimum number of Instagram followers. You don't have to look trendy or come from a background of religious influence. The world might look to those things to measure your success, but God looks at the heart. In some cases, like the church in Laodicea, those worldly advantages might actuall...

Talking the talk doesn't mean much without walking the walk. You can claim to be whatever you want, but if your actions don't back it up, it's meaningless. This is especially dangerous when it comes to Christianity. It's not just your reputation with others that you need to be aware of, it's your reputation with Jesus himself. As Pastor Ken shows us today, if you only talk the talk, Jesus will spi...

Have you ever done something good, but you did it with the wrong intentions? Maybe you helped a widow, but it was really just to get a pat on the back. Or have you ever been nice to someone because you had something to gain from them? With Jesus, it's not enough to just do good things. He will also judge you based on why you did those things. As Pastor Ken teaches us today, it's not enough to put...

Have you ever put together a piece of furniture without looking at the instructions? Sometimes the assembly is intuitive enough that you can get away with it, but often it leads to frustration. You get to assemble the furniture twice: once the hard way, and once the easy way. The same is true in life. Although we've been given an instruction manual on how to live, many choose to try it their own w...

Today Pastor Ken points out that when science trumps creation, we no longer are an image bearer of the Lord. Replacing creation with evolution means you evolved from an amoeba. So you are an animal, no better than a skunk. But when you hold true to the fact the world and everything in it was created, you can find purpose and meaning. Jesus accepted everything written in the Lord's book as good and...

The church at Laodicea is like a lot of people today. They forgot who God truly was. Today Pastor Ken shares in his message today, God is who He says He is in His word. You can't pick and choose what characteristics listed in the Bible are true. True Christianity isn't describing your ideal situations and only accepting those truths as you believe.

Having a finite brain is like trying to understand another culture without experiencing its customs or traditions. You cannot comprehend how this culture operates with the information you have available. Likewise, as Pastor Ken explains in today's study, it's hard to understand the Trinity, the character of Christ, or why bad things happen to good people with the limited knowledge we have in our c...

What if you could go through life without ever taking a test? No spelling test in elementary school, skip driver's ED test, never being tested on the date your mom was born. There is one test you'll never be asked to take if you believe in Christ. Today Pastor Ken shares how heaven dwellers, also known as believers in Christ, will be spared the test of deliverance. The great tribulation will only...

God has given everyone free will. The option to decide for themselves what they believe. The choice to obey or sin. To follow His path for their life, or pick fleshly desires. Perhaps the most important decision, to bow down and worship Christ as Savior, can be made now, or after all, hell breaks loose. In today's message with Pastor Ken, you'll see that everyone, even the demons, will eventually...

The world doesn’t need the Church to accommodate them in their sin. It’d be like a surgeon telling a cancer patient that the mass is just part of them and that it’s not their place to remove it. All men and women are born with spiritual cancer. We’re born with sin and selfishness in our hearts, and they will destroy and separate us from God. As Pastor Ken will remind us in today’s message, in Chri...

Believing Jesus is the only way to Heaven is very narrow-minded and exclusive. But, as His Creation, who are we to argue? He didn’t have to make anyway to be made right with God. God could have simply wiped us out for our prideful rebellion against Him, but He loves us too much to end it that way. As Pastor Ken will explain in today’s message, despite the enemy’s attempt to paint us as an unloving...

God doesn’t call you based on your qualifications. That may feel disappointing or insulting, but God doesn’t need what we have to offer. He’s the one who gave us our gifts and talents – He has access to anything He needs. So why does He call us and desire to use us? As Pastor Ken will explain in today’s message, God delights in using the weak and unqualified to draw people to Himself. He loves us...

Think about the story of Jesus feeding five thousand plus people with 5 loaves and 2 fish - it was a great miracle at that moment, meeting a real need for that hungry crowd, but it also offers a great illustration of how God works with each one of us. As Pastor Ken will point out in today’s message, we have very little to offer God. Our gifts and talents are nothing compared to the problem we face...
