The Kybercast

Kybercast053 - Geek Voices of Color (Joe was on vacation this week, so Michael did his best not to muck things up, with varying levels of success.) The wonderful thing about geek culture is that at its heart it is a culture of inclusivity. A certain film, comic, character, whatever, speaks to you in a way that nothing has before, and we all come together under that banner of inclusivity. Raise tha...

Normally the discussions this summer would be about the various blockbuster genre films we’ve seen, but this summer just isn’t like any other summer as of late. We’re taking a different approach. This week is all about the terrible movies that we know are horrible, but we love anyway. What geek films do you love despite their lack of quality? Feel free to leave a comment about the best worst movie...

What's making you happy? What's your geek distraction? There’s a lot of going on in the world right now; we’ve had months of COVID-19 lockdowns and now days for protesting and rioting across the nation. Sometimes things can seem pretty dour. Perhaps you’re looking for a brief respite from the real world. This week Joe and Michael discuss the geek/nerd things that are currently making them happy, t...

Welcome to the 50th episode of the The Kybercast! Just over a year ago we (Joe and Michael) thought it would be fun to launch a geek podcast with a definite Star Wars bent. Initially it was something we did every other week, but quickly decided that we enjoyed it so much that it became a weekly thing. And you know what? It’s still a lot of fun! We’ve met all kinds of interesting people and continu...

Kybercast049 - Boba Fett Lives! The internet is abuzz with word that Mr. Jango Fett himself, and father of all clones, Temuera Morrison is back in the Mandalorian armor again playing his own son. Who’s also a clone. Of him. Father’s day and family reunions are confusing for those Fetts. Boba Fett lives! Is that a good thing? Is it bad? Is it pandering? Is it fan service? Join Michael and Joe as th...

Most of the world is still under the COVID19 quarantine, which means that most of us are stuck at home. In an effort to try to keep everyone from each other's throats, we've compiled a list of Top 10 geek movies to watch on Netflix right now. Well, two lists. Joe and Michael discuss their stop five selections, but all 10 are posted below: Joe: 1. Blade Runner 2. Raiders of the Lost Ark 3. Ant-Man...

Hello! Last week saw the end of Star Trek: The A-Team, err, Picard, and we have thoughts on the season finale. Short version: it kind of feels like this whole first season was just to establish the crew of the La Sirena. That said, the show was enjoyable, but Joe and Michael disagree as to which they prefer, Picard, AKA The A-Team, or Discovery. Next is Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the return of...

The COVID-19 pandemic is affecting us all, and that includes the purveyors of the geek culture that we consume and comment on. Our second course is episode 7 of Star Trek: Picard, which pairs wonderfully with the third episode (season seven) of Star Wars: The Clon...

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has been out for weeks now, so there's not much more to be said, right? Not so fast! On this episode our good friend Alan, from the former WNRD - Radio Nerd America podcast, is a special guest, and yes, he has some thoughts. Join Joe, Michael, and Alan this week for an XL episode where we wrap up our final Skywalker thoughts and guess where Star Wars is heading for...

This week the podcast covers episodes 7 and 8 of one of the few thing Star Wars-related that Joe and Michael can agree on: The Mandalorian. And it's not just those two. It seems that The Rise of Skywalker is just as divisive as The Last Jedi, only in the opposite direction. Can Star Wars fans ever be happy? Well, when it comes to The Mandalorian, yeah, it seems they can. Also: Joe and Michael each...
