Daniel Owen Conahan Jr. is a convicted murderer and suspected serial killer. Conahan was convicted of one murder but has been linked to over a dozen murders, mostly of gay men in Florida in what came to be known as the Hog Trail Murders.

Transteens Stephanie Thomas and Ukea Davis died in a hail of automatic gunfire in the Washington D.C. Metro area. Decades later their murder remains unsolved, Cody and Matt explore their story in this latest episode of the Coma Cast.

Lashay Mclean is one of the handful of trans murders that we talk about that happened in short succession of each other in the Washington D.C. Metro area. Not a lot is know about her death but her story remains one of many that should be known.

We exam the way in which the media portrays LGBT crimes in particular how the media framed the case of Matthew Shepard. 

Matthew Shepard was a gay American student attending the University of Wyoming when he was beaten, tortured, and left to die new Laramie in October 1998. He was found alive and taken to a hospital where he died six days later. Shepard's murder changed America and LGBT rights. 

Mesha Caldwell was found shot to death on a road in Mississippi, her killing  investigated as a homicide, meaning she is the first trans murder victim of 2017.

This week, our friend Eric, who many of you may know from twitter volunteered to share his story. Please join us as he shares his story of being a victim of a hate crime. 

Ashanti Carmon described as a vivacious, caring, and loving person had her life cut short when at the age of 27 she was shot and killed. Cody and Matt talk about how stories like this are absolutely horrible to read about, but that sadly they aren’t uncommon. 

In 2019, Cody and Matt began work on an idea that has turned into an exploration of LGBT Cold Cases. Today they talk about how the idea came to life and also about their friendship.

In June 28, 1989, Carla Leigh Salazar, a 35-year-old trans woman, was stabbed to death in her fourth floor apartment in Santa Ana, California. Police investigated but did not identify a suspect at the time, and the case remained unsolved, like so many murders of trans women in the U.S.

So today we are discussing Aaron Hernandez,.. an American football player who played in the NFL for the new England Patriots. Prior to joining the NFL he was a star player at the University of Florida. Despite all of that success he was living two lives that ultimately caught up with him when he was convicted of murder.

Aileen Wuornos, known as “America’s First Female Serial Killer,” was responsible for the death of at least five men in Florida. She made a living most of her life as a sex worker, where in 1989 she killed a man who had picked her up. During her trial many questioned her sanity, ultimately she was convicted and placed on death row.

A jogger made a gruesome discovery in a field in Washington County, Oregon, that later turned out to be the body of 28-year-old Loni Kai. We discuss the events that led up to her death and the mystery surrounding this case that remains unsolved despite what appears to be lots of evidence that may include DNA. 

On this fourth episode of The Coma Cast we discuss the case of Veronica Banks Cano. She was found by police on February 19, 2016 in a bathtub at the EL Mio Motel. Mystery surrounds her death as she was found in the tub with her clothes still on and other individuals in the motel room.

On this third episode of The Coma Cast we discuss the case of Julie Doe. She was found in Florida and through the help of DNA Doe Project more information has come to light through advancements in DNA technology. Cody and Matt discuss the topic of DNA and how new advances help cases similar to Julie Doe's.
