Ladies, gentlemen and all genders in between! The Teebs and KidPhoenix VS Podcast is back! After your hosts' federally mandated hiatus, Teebs and KidPhoenix have returned from whatever multiversal madness they were trapped in and returned to the sacred timeline! This week is a catch up episode. We know what they've done all summer, but no one else does. What have they been watching? What have they...

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, IT IS THAT TIME AGAIN! It is July, and KidPhoenix has been on an airplane (or pair of airplanes) to convene with Teebs in San Diego for San Diego Comic Con 2024! Your hosts preview this year's Con -- the first since the actors and writers strikes last summer. Savanah Tiffany (now a seasoned veteran attendee) also joins your hosts to tell you all what panels you can find us in...

Let's get back to what butters this podcast's bread ... complete and utter nonsense! As fun as it is for Teebs and KidPhoenix to speak ill of media conglomerates like Disney or Time Warner, that gets exhausting to say the least. Your hosts switch it up a little this week with a little exercise. A random decade was selected and movie titles were generated using ChatGPT. With only those two elements...

We are at the halfway point of the new Star Wars series -- "The Acolyte". Since Teebs hasn't "watched a single frame" of show, it will be up to KidPhoenix to carry the ball in the first half of the episode and give his feelings of the show after four (five as of today) episodes. After the break, Teebs would like to get in to some of the negative discourse around the show in various aspects and voi...

Something that Teebs and KidPhoenix speculated on previously in series two happened this past week. (They're clairvoyant AF, people!) Brent Lang at Variety reported on the purchase of the Alamo Drafthouse -- a movie theater chain in multiple states across the United States. While the chain isn't as big as Regal or AMC, it does reveal that production companies are at least thinking about controllin...

Since the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is no longer a thing (R.I.P.), the Summer Game Fest -- an expo similar to E3 but hosted primarily online -- is all gamers have in the summer to see what video game companies are developing in the next year (or quarter as they do in that industry). Teebs and KidPhoenix are on the job with what they took away from this year's Summer Game Fest. What did th...

The summer is here which means there will be lots of new content for the kids on summer vacation to consume. If you're a Star Wars kid (of any age), "The Acolyte" was released last night before the taping of this podcast. Teebs and KidPhoenix will be having a "first thoughts" pod soon, but you can (and should) check the socials to see how your hosts feel about the show. On the pod, today, Teebs an...

Every once in a while, your hosts like to take a time out from talking about pop culture to discuss something that (allegedly -- according to Teebs) is enjoyed when your hosts talk about -- and that's food! Today, Teebs and KidPhoenix give you their personal choices for their favorite fast food places/items. From breakfast to dessert ... from McDonald's to the Colonel and everything in between, th...

It's always easy to talk about science fiction movies that are incredibly well-known, famous and influential. Teebs and KidPhoenix love to go down the rabbit hole from time to time and give a few suggestions of films (especially from the sci-fi boom of the 90s) that should receive ... a flower. They don't get the entire bouquet, but they should get at least one piece of floral acknowledgement. For...

In 1979, Ridley Scott took a story from writer Dan O'Bannon and turned it into one of the greatest franchises in pop culture history: "Alien". The franchise has gone through several evolutions in story telling and tone, but the core DNA (or at least parts) of the original Alien movie are in each new iteration. For "Alien Day" -- which is this Friday, April 26 -- Teebs and KidPhoenix discuss the mo...

As of today, we are five episodes -- the halfway point -- in to the newest Disney+ television series: X-Men '97. This is a continuation of the X-Men cartoon from the early/mid 1990s. Teebs and KidPhoenix give their thoughts on the show to this point. Does it capture the spirit of the original or is it better? Are there aspects they don't like? This leads into the next discussion about media compan...

The year is 2014. It is a strange transitional year for pop culture and media. We are years removed from the last Star Wars movie and years before its return. The Lord of the Rings trilogy has come and gone. The Marvel Cinematic Universe was still a bit in its infancy -- but ten years ago, some important debuts made their way to the big screen, little screen and consoles. Today, Teebs and KidPhoen...

Social media has become a way of life for many people. Whether it's Facebook, Instagram, X, BlueSky or all of the above, many around the world are on these platforms. One social media platform that has been hotly contested of late is TikTok (sort of the evolution of vine -- if you're old enough to remember that). The United States Congress passed a proposed measure that would effectively ban TikTo...

There are great rivalries all throughout media and television: Jedi vs. the Sith, Marvel vs. DC, Autobots vs. Decepticons. There is only one O.G. pop culture rivalry, and it involved a cat and a mouse. In 1940, Tom and Jerry were a pair of animals that shared a bond that was forged on mutual hatred. Today, Teebs & KidPhoenix put it up for debate. Who was the bigger a**hole? Tom the cat or Jerr...

According to a recent report, Sony stock has lost $10 billion in value after lowering the forecast for projected Playstation 5 sales. Teebs and KidPhoenix could care less about stock prices, but it's worth wondering if we're witnessing the beginning of the decline in console gaming. With consoles (and games) being as expensive as they are in 2024, are we hitting some kind of breaking point where c...

It has been a little while! Your hosts have taken their regularly scheduled 90-day vacation between Christmas and New Year's and have returned during a month that is pretty on the nose: Black History Month. Regardless, Teebs and KidPhoenix have returned, and they're hoping that 2024 will be at least sort of decent in terms of what to watch, what to follow and what to indulge in when it comes to fi...

One thing Teebs & KidPhoenix enjoy (like any common man) is great, thought-provoking journalism. Let's face it. We all need to do something else because the television landscape has changed quite a bit since the Second Golden Age of Television (aka "Prestige TV"). Streaming services have transformed television as we know it, so those golden days of shows like "The Sopranos", "The Wire" and oth...

The Halloween Spectacular has concluded, so let's get back to topical, typical nerd business! Last week, Tatiana Siegel of Variety Magazine penned a column outlining some really interesting details after a meeting of the Marvel minds in Palm Springs. A back up plan for Jonathan Major's Kang the Conqueror character. Issues with "The Marvels" (which debutes in theaters this Friday) as well as "Blade...
