Happy 2023 SHUD-dy Buddies! We’re sailing over the roiling seas once again to Indonesia where we revisit one of our most favorite filmmakers, Joko Anwar, and his new flick, SATAN’S SLAVES 2: COMMUNION. We haven’t been more excited for a release since, well, Joko’s last movie so color us stoked! We also get into some of our final watches of 2022 which leads up to our Year in Re-Spew, which is alrea...

Shuddy Shudd-idays!! It’s a horror-days special as we take a break from our regularly scheduled Shudder discoveries to recap our 2022 horror experiences! What a f*cking year it was too… We each present our top ten horror movies released in 2022. What is Austin’s number one? How many times will Curtis try to cheat? Did Lucas change his list after we recorded this? And just how high will Cody be ran...

We all may be in the thick of our holiday merriment, but we’ve got some Halloween closure to tend to (as if it ever really closes). There is an extensive list of titles that we all watched before this episode which we think makes for a pretty killer group of recommendations! And then after all of that, we head back to a country and filmmaking family near and dear to our demonic hearts – Italy. Or...

We're back from Halloween in our physical bodies but not in our eternal spirits! If you're still feeling the haunted hangover of the most glorious of holidays, get a nice little chaser of chills and hear about our October delights as we went through them. Spoilers, there was a lot of Beyond Fest. Or if you're already yearning for the Yule, skip right ahead to our discussion on the classic indie, P...

Back with our regularly scheduled programming....BIRD BOY, the cartoon I know I needed when I was a child. Other important tidbits: Curtis' obsession with Roadhouse; The Northman: The Musical; superheroes - we're digging into it friends. Enjoy. We love you.    00:00 - 13:40ish Intros: Happy post Halloween! We discuss how we always assume we’ve all made it to the release of these since we record th...

It’s here. The day and episode you’ve all been waiting for: HALLOWEEN. Enjoy the culmination of your spooky season with John Carpenter’s classic that started it all. This is the first title we’ve double covered, having done a deep, deep dive into the Halloween series during our inaugural HallowStream in 2020 but dammit this one deserves it! Listen as we unpack what this movie and what John Carpent...

We take a step a week back in time as the October SHUDcast Shuntathon continues! Before we decided to give you a full slate of episodes in October, we selected Prince of Darkness to cover and release unknowingly on its 35th anniversary! Happy birthday to this underrated gem from our favorite master of horror!   00:00 - 24:00ish Intros: What constitutes a “staff pick” being displayed in our homes a...

Whoa! Time jump! Spoilers for the end of the episode you were SUPPOSED to get before this one. We went ahead and selected John Carpenter’s The Thing, thus rounding out his Apocalypse Trilogy. We loved the poetry of releasing Prince of Darkness on the actual 35th anniversary of the film (something we honestly didn’t plan for before finding that out) so much that we decided to keep that release sche...

Welcome to the spookiest of seasons, kind friends and patrons! We know you know that all year is spooky season but we’re now in the thick of the time where hopefully we can wear sweaters and stuff while we do our spooky bidding. This intro to October brings you the first in a series of films that we’ll be releasing EACH WEEK during the month! That’s right, a SHUDcast a week keeps your ears super b...

It’s a great day to be Sad at the SHUDcast and not because Cody watched a bunch of erotic vampire movies and talks at length about them. We’re entering your spooky season from the comforts of MidSommar where we watched a whole bunch of stuff, including a bonus title we go hard on – Jordan Peele’s NOPE. Spoilers, we f*cking loved it. But stick around (or just check the show notes below) because we...

We’re getting spooky this week, folks. Journey back to Curtis’ Beyond Fest 2021 screening series as we take on: our first guest to the Fungeon, the beginnings of our Summer watchings, more RRR love, and finally, the Thai found-footage creepfest, THE MEDIUM.   00:00 - 23:00ish Intros: We’re interrupted early on by our first ever guest to the Fungeon, the lovely and incomparable Mattie Schnieders to...

Welcome back to the SHUDcast and boy do we have some gloopy deliciousness in stock for this one (and aside from our lives in general)! We get past some initial wildness as Cody forces us to watch the end of a hockey match during our recording (and of course we kept it in because who doesn’t want to hear us marvel at the oddness of our beloved Cody) and dig deep, deep, DEEP into the mind of one of...

Welcome back! Our boys went on a tiny break in their recording schedule to travel the world, the Pacific Northwest, and their basements! With this now worldly knowledge the SHUD guys are excited to bring to you a bevy of things watched (including a new Cronenberg!) all leading up to the talk of a highly touted classic of the genre, THE CHANGELING. Tune in and see what the guys thought of this flic...

Well, at least we don’t cover any real animal deaths in this one. Only fake, cheap ones this week as we catch each other up on how well we think our show is doing (you tell us! Get a shoutout! Even if you hate it!), how we spent our Friday the 13ths, breaking news that the Evil Dead movies are genius and you should play the video game with us, and finally, a movie where Curtis has to remind everyo...

It’s quite the big-release catch up week here at the SHUDcast as Curtis picks a marquee film that spoke to his childhood and apparently… well… you’ll hear about it. We go over some big titles that we quite enjoyed including one that, dare we say, changed the life of one of us (and also everyone seated around him during the film). So take a big long swig of ruby syrup from your Bloodstone and strap...

Warning: Welp we did it twice in a row and we didn’t even realize it. We’re so sorry… but, horror!! Cody unknowingly selected a film of ill-repute (but wide acclaim) from the poisonous, everything-will-kill-you-including-the-booze-land of Australia, 1971’s WAKE IN FRIGHT. The film, while not as wildly torturous as Cannibal Holocaust, still features a scene about 4/5ths of the way through wherein m...

WARNING: As horror fans and general mutant folk, there comes a time where we inevitably get to the outer edges of what is acceptable and conscionable in the realm of entertainment and media. And folks, like the warnings and disclaimers you’ve likely come across out in the wild regarding this movie, we are warning you here that we’re covering CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST. We encourage everyone to listen to o...

You know what's stupid? 5 character podcast titles being a requirement. Welcome back to the SHUDcast! This week is Lucas’ pick and boy is it somethin’. We’re staying in folk horror territory as we take our Bibles and stolen chickens to a nice lady on the Russian moors in the hopes that we can stay in the manger as we talk about the movie, VIY!  00:00 - 26:00ish  Intros – Why we want to go to Alamo...

As Winter death rattles into Spring and Summer licks its tasty chops eyeballing its oncoming vernal meal, so does the SHUDcast return with another ritualistic review. The boys put on their outdoor pants and go on a foraging mission to gather dried sticks and other detritus in order to properly discuss the SHUDDER Original, HELLBENDER. Along the way we discuss the evolution of COVID seasons, Austin...

Gather ‘round the Maypole, ye Summery lads and lasses as the SHUDcast takes a pilgrimage to pagan utopia and we discuss the 1973 classic, THE WICKER MAN. In this giant, wicker effigy-sized episode, which we recorded after a long hiatus (which you didn’t experience in our releasing schedule), we go over lots and lots and lots of fun titles that we caught up on as well as our long-awaited discussion...

Shhh… keep it secret… this mini-episode is brought to you by all the goodness we stuff into our eyeballs that may or may not come from platforms other than our streaming savior, Shudder. Upon recording an upcoming episode on 1973’s THE WICKER MAN, we went long and hard regarding a recent release that we couldn’t idly let rest inside our larger episode discussion.   So with Matt Reeves’ THE BATMAN,...

This week on the SHUDcast we dive into our listener shoutouts for those faithful who have interacted with us on any, and we mean any, and all social platforms, dig up our personas during the MTV millennial era, and wash it all down with the our discussion of the flagbearer for the most specific time period for nu metal goths, QUEEN OF THE DAMNED. Check us out next time as we get into the seminal 1...

You thought you were free of us! We boys of the SHUD-cast have spent the beginnings of our 2022 racking up a bevy of delicious horror-based cinema discussion for your listening displeasure. Hear us as we reconvene for the first time since November and talk about the myriad of movies Curtis watched at the end of 2021, our personal SCREAM franchise rankings, how Cody is coping with finally quitting...

Folks, friends, brethren and sistren(?) we’ve come to the end of another year of living, loving, and more importantly, SHUDcasting. It’s been quite the haunted journey and you’ve stuck with us through thin and thinner and for that we appreciate each and every one of you. Take a listen to our final episode of the year where we reflect on the people we’ve become, the times we’ve enjoyed (and hated)...

Like Arnold Schwarzenegger at a Black Friday sale at a toy store, we are back JUST in time for the holidays! Join us in our penultimate episode of the year as we discuss what our Patreon tiers should be, Austin getting married, how discussions with Uber drivers have changed, Cody taking a “break from horror” while we all explain his broodiness to him, Lucas getting in a fight on a “Hype Beast” pos...
