Score Overnights

Mark Grote hosts a special Score Overnights show to remember the life and legacy of our dear friend Les Grobstein, who passed away two years ago. Grote kicks off the show by welcoming on Grobstein's son, Scott, and later was joined by Les' longtime girlfriend, Kathy.

In the second hour of Score Overnights, Mark Grote is joined by Jon Greenberg of The Athletic to hold their Bum of the Year ceremony, a longstanding Les Grobstein segment and a favorite of his loyal listeners. Later, Grote plays back his interviews with longtime Chicago sports reporters Cheryl Raye-Stout and George Ofman in which they shared their favorite memories of Les.

In the third hour of Score Overnights, Mark Grote was joined by Mark Potash of the Sun-Times and later Rick Telander of the Sun-Times to reflect on how they used to call into Les' overnight show. They shared their favorite moments with the Grobber.

In the fourth hour of Score Overnights, Mark Grote talks with former Overnight producer Adam Harris, who got into a few infamous arguments with Les Grobstein during his time producing for his show. Later, Grote talks with two of Les' best friends in Bruce Levine and David Schuster, longtime Chicago sports reporters who watched many games on press row alongside the Grobber.

In the final hour of Score Overnights, Mark Grote plays a chunk of his interview with Score host Laurence Holmes talking about getting his start at The Score producing for Les Grobstein. Later, Score vice president Mitch Rosen calls in to share how he brought Les back to The Score airwaves and to reflect on his relationship with the Grobber.

In the final hour of Score Overnight, host Mark Grote takes more callers and breaks down the Joey Votto and Rowan Wick incident from the Cubs 4-2 loss to the Reds. 

In the fourth hour of Score Overnights, host Mark Grote asks listeners if Mitchell Trubisky or Matt Nagy will leave a better legacy from their Bears tenure. Later, we replay Mike Florio's interview with Dan Bernstein and Leila Rahimi from Wednesday morning.

Host Mark Grote is back from his Bears hibernation and is breaking down the silly drama at the end of the Cubs game, talking through the Sox win over Boston, and taking calls. 

In the final hour of Score Overnights, host Mark Grote shares that he played the clarinet for 16 years while in band growing up, then producer Sean Sears makes the mistake of suggesting kids would learn the clarinet to move to the saxophone. Grote corrects him, as he's very protective of his woodwind instruments.

In the fourth hour of Score Overnights, host Mark Grote replays rookie Bears edge rusher Dominique Robinson's recent interview on the Mully & Haugh Show. Later, Grote takes more calls on the Bears and what manager Tony La Russa is doing with the White Sox.

In the third hour of Score Overnights, host Mark Grote discusses the Cubs best prospects and how quickly we could see players like Caleb Kilian and Pete Crow-Armstrong playing in Chicago. Later, Grote shares a clip from his interview with Adam Rank of NFL Network last week discussing how the Bears could win 10 games.

In the second hour of Score Overnights, host Mark Grote discusses the Bears' awkward roster and his overnight drink of choice before taking calls from listeners. 

Host Mark Grote opens the show by recapping the Cubs and White Sox games from Sunday and also discusses how strange it was to hear former Cubs television broadcaster Len Kasper calling White Sox games while Anthony Rizzo plays first base for the Yankees.

In the final hour of Score Overnight, Mark Grote recaps the previous day in Chicago sports and plays some of his favorite audio that he collected from the past weekend during the Bears' draft.

In the fourth hour of Score Overnight, Mark Grote takes calls from longtime listeners on the Cubs' direction, the Bears' draft moves and how long Tony La Russa will stay on as White Sox manager.

In the third hour of Score Overnight, Mark Grote plays back a few chunks of postgame from White Sox manager Tony La Russa and Cubs manager David Ross after the first game of a two-game set at Wrigley Field between the teams. The White Sox won 3-1 in the opener. Later, Grote replays an interview with former Bears coach and current analyst Dave Wannstedt on the Parkins & Spiegel Show.

In the second hour of Score Overnight, host Mark Grote dives a little deeper into the Bears' selections in the NFL Draft and takes calls on the Crosstown Series after the White Sox won 3-1 in the opener against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
