Rooted: Real People, Real Issues, Real Growth

No one ever told me living a life of faith would be easy--but they also never told me it would be this...complex either. I bet you can relate. Hi, my name is Shinia, and what I desire to create here is a safe place for us to be honest about the challenges we face as believers. A place where we can share where we've gotten it wrong, and how to get it right. A judgment-free zone for those who are tired of "playing church" and are ready to dig deep into the Word and learn God's truth for themselves. This is a place to grow. Remember: we can't reap what we don't sow. Welcome to Rooted.

Fight Club: What I Need From You Is... 09.08.2023

There are three needs that every person has—it doesn’t matter what you look like, where you come from, what you’ve been through, or where you’re going—everyone needs three things: 1. Love 2. Significance and Security. And because we all share those same needs, you would think we could all acknowledge not only that they exist but also agree to show grace, empathy and compassion to one another as we...

Fight Club: Main Character Energy-When It's Okay to Be Selfish 26.07.2023

Welcome back to our Fight Club series. Tonight, we are having a very raw conversation about how hard it is to advocate for yourself in a world that tells you that to love others means you have to come last. Because we were not created to deny our own needs, desires, calling, purpose, etc., when we do just that, over time the denial begins to breed division, resentment and bitterness internally and...

If you’ve been tuning in to our recent episodes then you know we’ve started a new series this month called Fight Club. The first two episodes titled Oh You Mad Parts 1 and 2, address three critical questions we have to ask ourselves if we are going to learn how to handle offense and conflict well. Fight Club: Oh You Mad? Part 2 05.07.2023

Welcome back, last week we started our new series on conflict resolution called Fight Club, and our first episode was Oh You Mad Part 1. In that episode we talked about three questions we must ask if we are going to learn how to resolve potential offenses that can lead to conflict. All three questions are posted on my Instagram at shinia_lambert, if you are like me and are a visual person. So the...

Fight Club: Oh You Mad Part 1 28.06.2023

One thing I know for sure is that regardless of how emotionally intelligent you are, how prepared you try to be, how peaceably to try to project, you are going to face conflict. The one thing that you can resolve right now is to accept that fact—and know that conflict doesn’t have to always be a bad thing. Conflict is a warning signal for your relationships—that indicate something is going on, som...

Boundaries: Idols of the Heart Part 2 15.06.2023

Last week we delved into the propensity of our heart to make idols out of our desires, if we failed to guard it. We discussed filters or gates that affect what enters into our hearts and ultimately what comes out. As Proverbs 27:19 says as water reflects the face so the heart reflects the person. What’s in your heart is who you are—and make no mistake what’s in our heart will come out. Tonight, we...

Boundaries: Idols of the Heart 08.06.2023

Have you ever wanted something so bad that you felt that not having it affected your very relationship with God. What does it mean when our hearts desire something so strongly and yet God doesn’t seem moved to bring it to pass? We’ll talk about it tonight on Boundaries: Idols of the Heart.

#Boundaries 31.05.2023

As we reach the mid-year mark, now is a great time to assess and evaluate our progress as it relates to the goals we set at the beginning of the year. I want to propose to you that if you are not seeing the results that you want, or you are seeing progress but not enjoying the process, that a tool you may be missing in your arsenal is boundary setting. Boundaries allow us to draw a line in the san...

Daniel: Promotion & Persecution 24.05.2023

When it comes to God promoting and elevating us, we can expect to experience seasons of spiritual warfare and opposition. With promotion comes persecution. However, this is not an excuse to shrink back or to fear the great and wonderful things that God wants to do in us and through us. Instead, this is a call, a war cry if you will, to prepare ourselves for the backside of the blessing. Join me on...

Kingdom Agenda: The Favor of God 17.05.2023

Welcome back—so last week we talked about how all of us will experience dark nights of the soul – or trips to the lion’s den. And while all of us will spend some time in the den—we know that as people who are intentional about their relationship with God, possess a growth mindset, and operate in emotional and relational intelligence, we can be prepared for the den, and protected and preserved whil...

Daniel: Status & Skill 10.05.2023

As believers, or people in generally who just seek to be wise and make good decisions, we often equate those efforts to a 'get out of suffering free' card. Where we think because we have been diligent, and intentional, and made good choices, that this automatically means we won’t experience pain, suffering, disappointment, or loss—all of which are a part of being alive and as a human being...

Faith Beyond the First Step 26.04.2023

In tonight's episode we talk about how to take faith beyond the first step. Don't get me wrong, taking that first step is hard, and often it's one we have to take alone. But we must be prepared for the place called the "messy middle" -- where we have come so far from where we began, and yet still have a way to go. Who or what do you depend on, when the distractions, circumsta...

Do You See What I See? 19.04.2023

Now if I’m honest then I have to say that I’m partial to every episode that I record. Each and every one has a special meaning to me, I believe it carries an on time message that I hope encourages and challenges the listener (including myself) every single time. But there’s something about the faith talk that, especially in this season, that is superior for me. It’s a chicken salad. From 81st deli...

Speak Up! For the People in the Back! 12.04.2023

As we have been having this discussion about faith and the ways that we can stay rooted despite or in light of what is going on around us, I think we would be doing ourselves a disservice if we didn’t talk about our testimony—what it means to have one, share one, hear one. Tonight, we are going to chat a little bit about the important of sharing our story—how it is that we can to know Christ, but...

Galatians: Freedom & Faith 05.04.2023

In Galatians Chapter 4, Paul expresses a deep concern that not only are the Galatians being influenced by those who are intentionally seeking to enslave them, but that the believers appear more than willing to return to patterns, behaviors, and principles that were fruitless and faithless. Today, we can be tempted to reduce our relationship with Christ to rules and regulations. But Christ didn&#39...

Galatians: What You Tryin' To Do? Part 3 29.03.2023

Tonight we continue on in our series on the book of Galatians and what it means to prioritize our faith. Our main takeaway was: Anything that is accomplished from mere human effort is but a shadow of what is possible by faith. We then went on to discuss the first three of six ways we can stay rooted in our faith. They included reflecting, realigning, and rejecting. Tonight you get the next three:...

Galatians: What You Tryin' To Do? Part 2 22.03.2023

I promised that tonight we would...

Galatians: Are You The One? 09.02.2023

It’s often easy to judge those who struggle to believe God is who the Bible says that He is. But if we were honest with ourselves, even the most seasoned believer, has at time faced circumstances, that even if for just a second, made you wonder, “Ummm Jesus, are you there?” False teaching can lead us astray, and so can bad theology, but no one is talking about how life can wear down our resolve, a...
