A crossover fighting game which still hits hard even today and I wish they would make a third. Finally.....a Megaman game is being covered on the show and it is possibly the best out of the lot. Megaman X is a game I had never played before until my guest R9 asked me to cover it. I had a blast with it and the music....OH THE MUSIC....wow. My guest this week is R9 Beats and you can find his YouTube page here - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCU4p-lnW4tSmH8DGMm2SZlQ As always we have our let...

It is time to catch some apes that have escaped....through time. Yes, this week, we are going across time to play Ape Escape. It is one of those games I have never played before but when a challenge is set before me...I shall overcome it. My guest this week is Keith from the Main Quest podcast where you can find his links here - https://twitter.com/_mainquest As always we have our letter section,...

Ahh arcades we love them. They hold some of the best memories in my heart and then they get ported to the home consoles. One such classic was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game. It was one neither myself or my guest, Rob Cox, had played before....I wonder if it will be as good as Turtles in Time. As always we have our letter section, stick it up your jinjo and survive or die. This wee...

The World Cup is alive!!!! With football season being in full swing, I decided to go all in and tackle one of the best sports games ever, Fifa 98: Road to World Cup. I loved this as a kid, so many memories. My guest this week is Dan Coles...who sadly...I made do this twice. I also have to say, I don't know what happened at the end but it missed our scores so I am sorry the show may end oddly. As a...

Link's Awakening was my first Zelda game I played as a child and I loved it....I still do. The special thing about this game, no Zelda...no Hyrule...no Ganon. It is all time to wake up that fish!!! My guest this week is Jake from the PressBtocancel podcast which you can listen to here - https://pressbtocancel.com/ As always we have our letter section, stick it up your jinjo and survive or die. Thi...

THAT ONE......this is the best way to describe this game. Final Fantasy 2 was first released in Japan and took a long time to hit Western shores. I finally had a good sit down with Chris Coplien and we had a good old chin wag about what is considered the most controversial out of the Final Fantasy games....and it was only the second one.    My guest this week is Chris Coplien from the Retro Hangov...

Get your skateboard kids, we are hitting the streets, bowl...I dunno I am not a skater kid. Tony Hawk Pro Skater is this week's game and this was a new one for me. I gave it a real go though. My guests this week are R9 Beats and The Christian Pokemon Champion, you can find their links here   https://www.youtube.com/user/R9beats https://www.youtube.com/c/ChristianPokemonChampion1John418   We actual...

Spooky month is ending on a different note as we look at Gregory's horror show for the PlayStation 2. A different sort of a game which still was able to scare the heck out of me. My guest this week is the loveable Jake Macauley. The news is back to normal now and there is a lot to go through. As always we have our letter section, stick it up your jinjo and survive or die. This week, we have the an...

Our spooky month continues with Super Castlevania 4 for the Super Nintendo. It was a game I was too scared to play as a child but maybe as an adult I will have more luck. Suck it game! My guest this week is Anthony of 8StringFuryGaming, please make sure you follow him at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5j1_KsxqKRSGsGXavMn59w  There is only one thing to cover for the news this week and that of co...

What should be considered the gold standard in remakes, Resident Evil 1 for the Nintendo Gamecube made what was once a joke of a game, a legendary one. I never played the original because it looked so silly but this game changed all that. I went deep into the guest pool this week and brought out my brother, Phil, to join me on this adventure. It is his first time doing a podcast so be nice.

Resident Evil with Samurai....well kinda. Onimusha Warlords, a failed project that got delayed and finally released on the PlayStation 2. Set in feudal Japan, this title has you taking on hordes of the monster of hell to save the princess. I had never played this before before Jake Macauley brought it to me. Is it any good though, let's find out!!!

When the Xbox was first released, it needed a big launch title and it got one in Halo. Halo and the Master Chief are now part of gaming history and has had a huge impact on the gaming world.  Jarrad is back with me at the home office to talk about his memories of this great game.

Sonic the Hedgehog, one of the most important games in my life. Heck it is what has influenced the logo for this show. This week, I am joined by @chriscoplien from the Retro Hangover and we learn how influential the game this and the anatomy of Knuckles.

Ah Duke Nukem.....a relic from the past...maybe. The Duke Nukem games were very good years before but Duke has fallen into a bit of a hole. He did have some goodins and this was one that he was at his best. Duke Nukem 64, a PC port onto the N64. I had never played a Duke Nukem game before but I gave it a shot.  This week myself and Dan Coles go through one his games he loved growing up.

This is where fighting games hit the media's attention. Mortal Kombat 2, a sequel which created the rating system we have today. I did play this but I am always gonna be a Street Fighter man. My guest, Raging Demon, had a lot of experience playing this and gives his views on his first appearance on the show.

Have you ever played a game that screams Japanese culture than this does? A game which hardly saw any copies compared to other huge titles of the era. Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon for the N64. One of the only games we received over here in the west and I loved it it. My cousin Stefan and I go over this gem and wonder why we don't see more of it.

After our failed attempt of being nice to Mario Brothers 2, myself and CPC are looking at Mario Brothers 3 to see I can be nice about it. Super Mario Brothers 3 was the welcome return Mario to the system. I had fond memories of this, although Super Mario World was my first, I got to play this later on.  Get involved at patreon.com/retrowars

It has taken 29 episodes but we have finally at our first Mario Kart episode. Myself and Jake Mcauley are covering Mario Kart Double Dash for the Nintendo Gaemcube. I love this game and so does Jakey, which means we are going to be having a love fest.

Ever been to a hospital and thought, I can run this better? Theme Hospital have you that chance. I was rubbish playing this as a kid but my guest, Rob Cox, brought it back to my attention and boy did I have a good time.

Although I do love Tekken, Street Fighter Alpha 3 was heavily played on my PlayStation 1. Myself and Chris discuss the last of the Alpha series released by Capcom and discuss whether it was really as good as I thought it was.

It is our 6 month anniversary. 6 months!!! And it is time to bring the big guns....The Legend of Zelda makes it's first appearance on the show. To look at two fantastic games, the Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons, I am joined by Keegs once again. I cannot wait for this show to grow more and more.  Support the show via Patreon at www.patreon.com/retrowars

It is time for some more anime games and I am turning to one I absolutely love. I played this so much as a kid and I love that my guest R9 Beats wanted to cover it. Once again, serious conversations go out of the window.

Our first wrestling game of the show...and of course....it is a stinker. Well I think it is, I can imagine others would have a different opinion. WWF Attitude for the PlayStation1. Myself and Dan give this one an attempt for our sins.

Before we got into the hype of Sonic Mania. One series tried to bring back the magic of Sonic, Sonic Advance for the Game Boy Advance. The game was Sonic's first appearance on an Nintendo console and something we never thought we would see. My guest this week, is the one and only, Jake Macauley, who does his best to make rumours about me.
