Sharing your testimony helps you heal and bring us closer together. The Latin root for testimony is testis, meaning “ witness.” Compassionate witnessing of our personal series helps us recover and help others do the same. There is power in your testimony. "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God".  All Scripture is “God-breathed”. It is divinely inspired. The words of God are bread, and God wants to give you bread from heaven every day - a daily Word from Him.

When these gifts flow in the right way they can be an incredible confirmation that God is real . He isn’t a concept, or a theory, not just a belief, He is a reality and He’s here right now. It’s one thing to believe in God and it’s another to walk with an awareness that He is real.  

The essence of everything that exists in the universe is either spirit or originated in spirit. The gift of discerning of spirits is the God-given ability or enablement to recognise the identity (and very often the personality and condition) of the spirits, which are behind different manifestations or activities.

One of the problems facing Christians is an overly optimistic view of life and what we should expect if we're followers of Jesus and trying to do the right thing. Life can be hard! Prophecy is the human report of a divine revelation. It is a gift of the Holy Spirit and something that we are all called to “eagerly desire”. “Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.” (1 Corinthians 14:1) “Earnestly desire” means to actively seek after and ask for, to ardently yearn for, to zealously long for. If you never feel God’s presence in your life, never feel God’s love, never feel the peace of God, then you are not living out New Testament Christianity. God wants to not only be believed in, but also to be experienced, to be felt.

In this message we look at the the spiritual gift of miraculous powers. There is an utterly unanticipated authority and power at work and this activity is a sign of the coming kingdom of God.

Spiritual gifts are a sign of God’s grace, that they are given to serve others to achieve God’s purposes in extraordinary or supernatural ways, and we can see God at work, we can experience the power of the Holy Spirit in a tangible way. This message covers two of what we could call “revelatory” gifts of the Spirit. The spiritual gifts known as a word of knowledge , and a word of wisdom.

The way we speak to the world, the way we encounter the enemy, the expectations with which we minister to the broken and wounded and despairing is bound up in how we answer the question: Will we or won’t we build the church with the tools God has provided?

It’s time to wake up to the need for church revival and spiritual awakening. Unlike the early church in Acts 1, we don’t have to pray to receive the Spirit…we already have Him (Ephesians 1:13,14). The question is does He have us? Are we yielding ourselves to him in full surrender? If we were, our churches would be exploding with new disciples! When we gather for worship do we come hungry for the presence of God? Is what we’re doing characterised by the Presence of God? Is the Spirit’s presence evident and are we giving him room to move?
