James: Partiality and Promise 11.10.2017

James 2:1-7 What if the church was a game like musical chairs? What if when you came to church you had to earn your chair? In James’ day, a similar situation forced him to challenge the church’s preference for the rich, who were oppressing the poor. The underlying issue was partiality. Through James, God commands us to treat everyone the same because that’s what he says we are.

James: Knowing and Doing 29.09.2017

James 1:19-27 Christianity is the Christian following in the footsteps of Christ: knowing the word of God and doing it. It’s not that knowing the word is bad and doing the word of God is good; rather, knowing the word without doing the word is bad, and so is doing the word without knowing it. Like pedals on a bike, they require the other in order to work.

James: Trials and Temptations 19.09.2017

James 1:12-15 Every time God provides an opportunity, Satan brings opposition. This is why for those who follow Jesus, things are bound to get harder, not easier. But by the grace of God, you can fight, persevere, and emerge victorious because as Jesus overcame temptations for us.

James: Poverty and Wealth 26.08.2017

James 1:9-11, 16-18 - Should Christians be rich or poor? The correct answer is, Christians should be righteous. This sermon examines where we tend to get our identity and how remembering God’s unchanging love for us changes how we see things.

James: Joy and Doubt 25.08.2017

James 1:2-8 - “Give your life to Jesus and you will go to heaven” – But there’s more to it than that. There is a middle part, the hard part called “life”. Following Jesus in your life is filled with joy and doubt. James reminds us that oftentimes it will get harder before it gets easier and the closer you are to Jesus, the more uncertainty there is.

James: Brothers and Servants 14.08.2017

James 1:1 - If you really want to know someone, you need to meet their family; it’s the same with Jesus. If there was any situations or sins in Jesus’ life, James would have known. Instead James boldly describes himself as “the servant of Jesus,” proving his identity was more than just a brother.

Jesus Loves His Church: Jesus' Plan for His Church 14.08.2017

John 17:14-26 - Christians are people who write their plans in pencil because when Jesus shows up everything changes. Jesus’ plans are better than our plans and so we need to learn to trust him to lead us. Jesus has a 5 point plan to see his church grow. We are to be missional, sanctified, unified, loving, and prayerful.

Jesus Loves His Church: Jesus' Prayer for His Church 01.08.2017

John 17:1-13 - The last thing that Jesus does before he goes to the cross is he prays for his church. Jesus’ prayer in John 17 gives us a few things that we need to know before we are able to grow in our relationship with him. We are to know his glory, word, mission, and joy.

Song of Solomon: Q&A Part 3 11.05.2017

Throughout the series Song of Solomon our goal is to create a healthy and Christ-centered conversation around sex, love, and marriage. We want to answer any questions you may have when it comes to the subject. Please feel free to ask whatever you please as the questions will be anonymous and answered live on a Sunday morning during the gathering.

Parables: The Wicked Tenants 18.04.2017

Luke 20:9-18 - In this final parable, Jesus lets us look at our lives and all of human history from the perspective of God the father. Oftentimes we become unattached to what Jesus actually endured through the cross and accomplished on our behalf. This parable moves us to see what great lengths Jesus went through to give us the kingdom of God.

Parables: The King and His Servants 04.04.2017

Luke 19:11-27 Jesus is prophet, priest and king. Typically the church does very well in focusing on Jesus as prophet and priest, however we tend to struggle with Jesus as king. In this parable Jesus tells us his big vision for our lives and how we can accomplish that by simply being faithful with what he has entrusted us with.

Parables: The Widow and The Judge 30.03.2017

Luke 18: 1-8 Persistence pays off. Jesus is encouraging us as his disciples that when things are difficult or uncertain we can always go to him in prayer and he will provide for us. Stay focused on him through perseverance regardless of what is happening in life and in the end you will receive your reward.

Parables: The Sower and The Four Soils 24.03.2017

Luke 8:4-10 You are dirt, the question is what type of dirt are you? Will you be the dirt that Jesus uses to build the Kingdom of God or will you build your own kingdom in this world? The gospel has the power to change and transform lives but we must be open and receptive to the word for it to do it’s work. In this parable we are reminded that if our hearts are not tender and ready to receive then...

Parables: The Lost Sheep and Lost Coin 15.03.2017

Luke 15:1-10 God is filled with joy when lost people are found. When we repent (confessing, compelling, life-changing), God rejoices. Jesus is the good shepherd and we are his sheep. That means we are prone to wonders and stray, but wherever we find ourselves the good shepherd is always there. He never gives up looking for his people, and when what is lost is found, God throws a party.

Titus: God's Glory and Good Works 28.02.2017

Titus 3 Becoming a Christian is simple, being a Christian is difficult. We are saved by grace alone through faith alone, but because of grace we have works to do. The Christian life takes work, but the good news is that the Holy Spirit empowers us to live for God’s glory with good works in the world.

Titus: God's Glory and Good Lives 20.02.2017

Titus 2:2-15 The Christian life is to be lived as a throwback to the garden and a preview of heaven. God has created us both male and female to live for his glory and the good of others. We share in the image and likeness of God, equal in our relationships, yet different in our roles and responsibilities for his good work in the world.

Titus: God's Glory and Good Doctrine 20.02.2017

Titus 1:9-2:1 What was the most difficult conversation that you ever had? How did you respond? Paul is going to have some tough words for the church, but tough words make tough people. In this sermon we look at how sound doctrine produces sound living and why it is necessary for us to know the truth, that way we don’t fall victim to lies, deceit, and division.

Titus: God's Glory and Good Leaders 07.02.2017

Titus 1:5-9 - The church in Crete is not doing well. There are some major issues that Paul is writing Titus, their pastor to give him gospel-centered help and instruction on how to get the church back on mission for God's glory and the good of others. The first thing Paul tells Titus to do is to find godly men to serve as pastors, and get good leaders, men and women, to serve the church by their c...

Titus: God's Glory and Good News 30.01.2017

Titus 1:1-4 - Titus is a young pastor at a new church. All he wants is to see his church grow and make a gospel impact in their city. Paul writes him a letter to help him get his church back on track. In this sermon, we see why good advice is not as powerful as good news.

Prayer: When We Pray 23.01.2017

Prayer is something that is more caught than taught, which is why Jesus didn't spend the bulk of his ministry preaching expository sermons or writting books about prayer, but rather spent his life in community and modeling a vibrant prayer life to his disciples. In this sermon we concider the when and where we are to pray.

Prayer: Why We Pray 16.01.2017

If prayer is just another box you check or chore you have to do, you will never learn to pray nor be faithful at it. But when you know “why we pray” and “who we pray too” then prayer really does change everything.

Prayer: How We Pray 12.01.2017

When you think of prayer is it a delight or is it despair? My hope is that we will learn to pray first and pray often. Prayer isn’t something we have to do, rote, religious obligations, duty or despair, rather, prayer is something we get to do because we have a God who loves us.

Called Together: Called To Serve 27.09.2016

1 Corinthians 12:12-27 - When was the last time you made your hotel bed? Never. Why? Because you knew someone else was going to do it for you. Some people treat the body of Christ like a hotel instead of a home. God has called us together to accomplish his purpose of making disciples who make disciples, which takes everyone working together for his glory and the good of others. If you are called b...

Called Together: Called To Mission 23.09.2016

Matthew 28:16-20 - What is my purpose? That really is the question we all wrestle with. The Bible uses the word purpose quite often, but when it does it never refers to it as exclusively yours, but rather it belongs to God and he invites you to partner with him in accomplishing his purpose in life. Purpose it’s not about us or because of us, but it’s all because of Jesus. When the Bible speaks of...

Called Together: Called to Community 14.09.2016

Acts 2: 38-47 - The big question for the week is...what is "community"? Community is sort of a buzzword right? We all say it but what does it really mean? One of the most important decisions we will make is what community will we be a part of? And what marks to look for in an authentic community.
