This movie is a bit offensive for more than the obvious reasons. Sure, John Smith was 24 and Pocahontas was 10. They probably never met, and the real story involved her getting "hoodwinked" (that's a very specific term) and showed off like a circus attraction. But beyond all of those tired takes, she herself is offensive for a few reasons. The inexplicable ability to understand and speak English c...

It's fitting that A Goofy Movie ends up being the 33rd movie on our list. Symbolism aside, this is such a unique movie that's well worth your time to watch at least once. Bigfoot, NLP, and some type of daimon/daemon entity that tries to split up Max and has dad, Goofy. A surprisingly relatable and serious movie that also manages to keep a good pace and remain entertaining. One of the better Disney...

Another Disney classic, this time an ingenious endeavor to create a product and IP that can span from Halloween to Christmas. Is Nightmare Before Christmas a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie? And why aren't there any classic Disney Thanksgiving movies? Have you ever considered the similarities between "hakuna matata" and "do as thou wilt?" The Lion King is legitimately a good movie. Amazing animation, compelling story and a surprisingly good soundtrack that holds up over time. And of course, the infamous "SEX" scene... but what's more nefarious: a hard to read word that lasts for 2 seconds, or the ongoing Disney Proxy dynamic that subverts the a...

Aladdin is one of my favorite Disney "classics" for lots of reasons, even the soundtrack is good. Did you know that the original story actually took place in China? Here we talk about the backstory, production, mythology, history and more. We even talk about the Aladdin Genesis/SNES games, Magic Carpet Ride at DisneyQuest and of course, Robin Williams. Beauty and the Beast was peak Disney renaissance, and a commercial success. As with many previous Disney animations, the studio deviated far from the original script, in some cases changing the core dynamics of the story. This is a perfect example, as Belle's father is reduced to a mediocre engineer (in the original story he was a king). We also get into the dark origins of the inspiration of Beau...

The better of the Rescuers Down Under, and the "first fully digital" Disney animation, although compared to today's standards I still consider this traditional animation in many ways. Lots of interesting threads here. Percival (Pierce the Veil), Golden Eagle and the intersection of animals in military warfare and technology. The Little Mermaid is a true Disney classic, and perhaps the most advanced example of Disney mastering the formula and going beyond their usual story writing process. Here we have an inversion of The Golden Bough published in the 1890s, of how the true ruler of any kingdom must capture the daughter and slay her father (the king) to ensure virility and prevent inbreeding. We also have the inversion...

The Disney Proxy thesis continues, with some very specific and practical examples of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques in the first "modern" Disney animation. All previous animations took place in more classical / timeless periods, while Oliver and Company talks directly to new viewers in a reality much closer to their own. If you like this content and want to help support creating mor...

Who Framed Roger Rabbit is an occult ensemble based in esoteric and exoteric conspiracy, from the Red Car transit line being overtaken by the oil industry, to a more nuanced hint at how two different realities might interact, and how their respective laws of physics might work. In this episode we talk in depth about Willard Chase's affidavit of 1833, in which he recounts a story about Joseph Smith fighting a toad protecting the Golden Plates, which shapeshifts into a human being, and beats him up severely. It's a story of silver mines and gold treasure that might have been conduits to a bigger picture of the divine. Watch as Heidi struggles to keep Thomas from joining Mo...
