Joined by Glenna McGarity, Daniel and Kim take a look back at some of horror's greatest final girls, and how the trope has evolved to create more complex female characters. From Halloween to Scream , and more abstract versions of a final girl, like in The VVitch and Midsommar , they explore what it takes to be one, and how the concept of virginity has be intertwined with the trope. 

Daniel and Kim discuss the history of horror films at the Academy Awards with guest Kylie Johnson, with movies like The Exorcist and Silence of the Lambs. They also talk about the lasting power of some of the films, as well as why horror doesn't necessarily get the recognition it deserves when it comes to the Oscars. 

Daniel and Kim are joined by guest Ella Roades to discuss a couple of the most famous cult musicals: The Rocky Horror Picture Show , Little Shop of Horrors , and Hedwig & The Angry Inch . They also discuss why some musicals become more popular than others, and what makes a cult musical.

In the first of four spooky October episodes, Daniel and Kim are joined by Deven Ladson to look back at the history of Black characters in horror films,  from George Romero's Night of the Living Dead , to Jordan Peele reinventing the genre with Get Out . They also take a look at the future of Black horror with films like Antebellum starring Janelle Monae, and the 2021 Candyman reboot from Nia...

Daniel and Kim discuss the 'White Savior' trope with guest Alina Rahim, co-creator of the 'Colonize This' podcast. They explore the Black characters in films like The Help , The Blindside , and Green Book , as well as discussing why this trope is harmful when telling the stories of marginalized communities. 

Daniel and Kim are joined by Darby Neveu to discuss how female superheroes have evolved on screen throughout the years. From the Catwoman movie to future of the Marvel universe, they attempt to dissect why it has taken Hollywood this long to give women the superheroes on screen that they deserve, and where it is going from here. 

Daniel and Kim are joined by CalLu senior Marilyn Huitron, to discuss the changing landscape of Hollywood during a global pandemic, as well as what the future may hold when it comes to film and TV. Also reviewed are Zoom horror film Host, the pandemic themed rom-com Love in the Time of Corona, and Disney's live-action Mulan.
