MCU Fan Show - Marvel Studios commentary

We break down “The Friendly Type,” an episode that takes Moon Knight to Egypt in a race to find the tomb of Ammit. This leads to a meeting with the Ennead that does not go well, leading to a quest that provides the most Moon Knight action of any episode thus far and necessary information that comes at great cost. We discuss it all here! Hosted by  Sean Gerber  and featuring guest host Tom DeMichel...

We break down the debut episode of Marvel Studios’ latest Disney+ series as we meet Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) and his other identities (not that he’s fully aware of them just yet). We also meet Khonshu (F. Murray Abraham), but it is Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) who gives us the best sense of where things are heading in this series! Hos...

“So this is Christmas?” It sure is when the Hawkeye finale lives up to the standard set by the five outstanding episodes that preceded it! The final chapter in what we hope is just the first of multiple seasons delivers big action and big emotion as the characters all get the chance to say what they must to those who need to hear it most. It is the perfect bow to put on the wonderful present that...

“Ronin” maintains the high-quality momentum Hawkeye has been building through 5 episodes now, on our way to what should be a fantastic finale! Florence Pugh is back and as charismatic as ever as Yelena, who confronts Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld) with difficult truths and questions about Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner). Speaking of Barton, he’s doing his best to protect his family while trying despe...

It was everything we thought it could be and so, so much more. Spider-Man: No Way Home is a special film that feels destined to take its place alongside the very best of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man movies, and all of superhero cinema. Only time and repeat viewings will tell, but we’ll go ahead and start now by breaking down every amazing detail (or most of them, at least) in this spe...

Partners, am I right? Another week, another stellar episode of Hawkeye as Clint “CB1” Barton and Kate Bishop continue to develop their partnership and friendship. Strengthening those bonds, however, increases the emotional risk to go with the physical danger our heroes find themselves in. We break down how beautifully this episode handles all of that rich character work, and ugly sweaters, in this...

“Echoes” is an instant classic that belongs in the conversation for the best Marvel Studios episodes on Disney+ this year. It’s hilarious. It’s action-packed. It moves like it’s being chased by the Tracksuit Mafia in a ’72 Challenger. All of that is cool enough, but it’s the pauses for the emotional, heartstring-pulling moments that make this installment one of the all-time greats. It’s so much of...

Hide and seek? More like prepare for trial by (LARP) combat in episode 2 of Hawkeye! Clint Barton and Kate Bishop are fast friends, as far as Kate's concerned. The Tracksuit Mafia is after our heroes as items on the Barton Family Christmas To-Do List are checked off. We break it all down Ninja Style in this spoiler review!

Never meet your heroes, unless your name is Kate Bishop and your hero is Clint Barton. Then, meeting your hero might save your life. Hawkeye has arrived on Disney+ with Jeremy Renner finally getting proper focus in the MCU and Hailee Steinfeld turning in an outstanding debut. We break it all down and pay tribute to PIzza Dog in our spoiler review of the series premiere! Hosted by  Sean Gerber  and...

Sony made a big event out of the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer premiere and for good reason. It is quite a trailer, revealing (at least) 5 villains from Spidey’s multi-era movie history that are now in the MCU. Doctor Strange seemingly offers a morally ambiguous solution, setting the stage for a philosophical, physical, and metaphysical confrontation with our friendly neighborhood hero. We break...

Disney+ Day 2021 has come and gone without making nearly the impact that it could have. Fans and investors were disappointed by the lack new, concrete information about upcoming projects and when we can expect to see them. There were also plenty of repeat announcements from previous marketing events with little or nothing added. The Twitter thread presentation method also left much to be desired....

Much has been said and written about Eternals, but now, it's our turn. We break down Eternals, diving deep into its themes and epic ethical dilemmas on a cosmic scale before examining each of the MCU's newest heroes (and antagonists). We also discuss one of the best combinations of mid and post-credits scenes with which Marvel Studios has blessed us. Hosted by  Sean Gerber  and  Paul Hermann . Fol...

Marvel Studios has updated its movie release calendar for the umpteenth time in the past 18 months. We'll have to wait a little longer to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with corresponding delays to the rest of the slate. Of course, in a time when new MCU stories are in theaters or on Disney+ as frequently as we see them now, it's hard to be that mad about it. Instead, we're lookin...

What if The Watcher broke his oath? The Guardians of the Multiverse would be born! All of the season’s heroes (and villains) come together in a battle for the fate of not just one universe, but all of them. As one story ends, it feels as though others are only beginning, including a potential Captain Carter spinoff. We break down the season finale in this spoiler review! Viva Las Vegas!

It's one of the biggest mid-credits scenes in superhero movie history, so let's talk about it! We share our thoughts on that last-minute reveal in Venom: Let There Be Carnage!

Venom and Eddie Brock are back, creating and confronting Carnage! Venom: Let There Be Carnage is lighting up the box office but is it any good? How does this sequel build on the flawed foundation of the first film? We examine these questions, that mid-credits scene, and more in this spoiler review! Don't worry, we'll have even more to say about the mid-credits scene in another episode coming soon.

What if Ultron won? Continuity would take a retroactive beating, that’s for sure. What we would also see, though, is a compelling story that amplifies Ultron’s threat level as he becomes aware of universes beyond his own. The Watcher is okay with observing the destruction of one universe at a time, but what about the entire multiverse? It may be time to act. We break it all down in this spoiler re...

What if Thor were an only child? All rules, including those pertaining to Mjolnir, would go out the window! As troubling as that may be for the keepers of the canon, it’s still a really fun party when Thor, Grandmaster (with foam), Darcy, Loki, Howard the Duck, and others are around. Plus, we get an epic, globe-spanning battle between Captain Marvel and the Par-Tay Prince! We break it all down in...

What if Killmonger rescued Tony Stark? Killmonger would have achieved his goals in record time. Michael B. Jordan is back as a version of Erik Stevens whose plans are accelerated via a key piece of information that allows him to save and gain the trust of the man who, in this timeline, would never become Iron Man. We break down this incredible episode, featuring another wonderful vocal performance...

What if Earth's Mightiest Heroes became the Undead's Mightiest Heroes? There would still be Hope, and a vlog. We break down the latest episode of the Marvel Studios animated series, which gave us a new Avengers lineup we loved, and some other things we didn't. Plus, more thoughts on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!
