My thoughts as the reality begins to set in.

I've been teaching as a tenure-track Assistant Professor since 2017. Was going up for tenure this fall. However, due to a financial calamity, my position and that of 26 other tenured and tenure-track faculty has been eliminated at the end of this academic year. Over the 281 days I have left, I'll be sharing my impressions.

Source: This memorial letter, written in December of 1829 to the United States Congress, was printed in January, 1830 in the Cherokee Phoenix , the first American Indian newspaper. It was then reprinted in the March 13, 1830 issue of Niles Weekly Register .

When I was a grad student, I read a lot of books for my Comprehensive Exams, which had a fairly extensive take-home written component followed by an oral exam.
