In Matthew 6, Jesus gives us several lessons about prayer. What to do, what not to do, the attitude we should have and how to prioritize. He also says prayer personal by describing God as our Father, that he values us and that he’ll provide for us because we’re valuable. After Jesus’ discourse on prayer, he concludes with a simple yet profound statement… “so don’t worry.” So don’t worry! Because G...

Jesus honored the standard of the Law yet treated people in the context of love and grace. Jesus is the Word of God in action. He is God in the flesh. He is the embodiment of the righteous standard of God. Yet when he encountered a sin that required death, he lifted off every ounce of guilt, removed condemnation, forgave the person and gave them another chance. I want you to be so confident of you...

When we read the Bible, we have to keep in mind that we’re on this side of the cross, under a new and better covenant, one based on faith rather than obedience. One that’s upheld by the faithfulness of Jesus rather than our own faithfulness. So when we read books in the Bible, like James, we have to put on our New Covenant filter. https://www.clintbyars.com/blog/2018/9/17/scriptural-proof-that-god...

A shepherd walks among his sheep; sometimes he walks behind them, sometimes in front of them and sometimes in the middle of them. The shepherd makes sure the sheep have all that they need. He is the shepherd, you are his sheep. God lets you rest in him while he meets your needs. He leads you down healthy, productive paths in life and is glorified as you experience his promises in your life. His pr...

Spiritual thinking is a lot less complicated and weird than we have made it in the body of Christ. Spiritual thinking is simply just the ability to put your hope and confidence in God in any situation. Grace is alive in every moment to empower us to make choices that tend toward life. https://www.clintbyars.com/blog/2018/9/4/hold-a-vision-in-your-heart

When you start thinking about the past, distant or recent, be careful because you may be reinforcing the negative patterns and end up repeating the cycle. Mix in some spiritual thinking. Mix in some life thinking. Mix in some "in Christ" thinking. Put on the new man, don't just beat yourself up for the past, decide that you'll override the destructive programming and disciple yourself into victory...

We place our faith in God but our hope in what God has promised. He promises eternal life which includes salvation from sin and death. Why can you have hope in God’s promise of salvation? Because the one who made the promise is faithful. Ultimately, the hope of the Gospel is eternal life. Let me ask you “when do the benefits of eternal life begin?” Check out this message as I look a little deeper...

Lay yourself open and bare before God, with your mind on Jesus, who became like you, who knows what you’re going through, who has faced it before you, in every way tempted like you’ve been, and he will lead you into rest and victory. The word of God alive in your heart will enter a rest that is joined by soul and spirit. https://www.clintbyars.com/blog/2018/8/3/where-soul-meets-spirit

What does Jesus expect of you? Can you live up to those expectations? The truth is, Jesus expects you to do the impossible. He expects that because he has given you His spirit, which is unlimited and unrivaled in ability and power. Jesus expects you to use His power and His indwelling spirit to affect this physical world with His will. https://www.clintbyars.com/blog/2018/7/31/learn-to-live-from-y...

Have you ever tried to pray in tongues but it didn't feel real? Or it felt like nothing happened? Or you felt silly? Join the club, everyone feels that way the first few times. Remember your spirit is praying and your mind won't get it (1 Corinthians 14:14). The key is to mix faith in your heart with the sounds in your mouth. Jesus addressed this concept in Matthew 15:8 "These people honor me with...

Stop waiting on God, you already have within you everything he will ever give you in this life, his Spirit. Cultivate his Spirit so that your heart can allow fruit and gifts to grow and flow. https://www.clintbyars.com/blog/2018/6/25/being-filled-with-the-spirit

Most of us think of power when we think about the baptism of/in the spirit. We immediately think of praying in tongues and power to do miracles. While this is a byproduct of being baptized in the spirit there is another reason for the baptism. The main reason God immerses you in his spirit is to purify, cleanse and sanctify you so he can live in you and make you his eternal child. The baptism of t...

What is Spirit and what is our connection with it? When we think of the Holy Spirit we usually think supernatural or other than natural but Spirit is not unnatural, it’s not detached from this world, it holds this world together. Living under the influence of the Spirit is like a branch living under the influence of the trunk of the tree. https://www.clintbyars.com/blog/2018/6/13/walking-in-the-sp...

You are a king and a priest of God's kingdom that shall reign in this life. He has raised you with Christ and seated you in Heavenly places. You are a co-heir of everything Jesus inherited in his resurrection and ascension. That sounds wonderful, it sounds very spiritual, but what does it mean to you now? Do you actually know how to live within those realities in this present life? https://www.cli...

We go through our days relating to people through our biases and filters without taking the time to get to know people. Often times it's because there is not enough time to get to know everyone but that doesn't absolve us from general compassion toward all of mankind. We are to be clothed with compassion. When someone looks at you do they see compassion just a clearly as they see the shirt you're...

Jesus prayed "your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven." In a recent article, I revealed the tense of the word "come" in this prayer. Jesus was not asking God to send anything, he was telling the kingdom to grow...specifically grow to the point that earth looks like Heaven. https://www.clintbyars.com/blog/2018/4/24/are-you-reigning-as-a-king-and-priest

Be of this mindset when you pray I no longer call you servants, because a master doesn't confide in his servants. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. John 15:15 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20 https://www.clintbyars.com/blog/2018/4/10...

Do you only believe what you can observe? What if you don't observe the effects of God in your life, do you still believe? There is as much "faith" in science as there is in religion, more really if you think about it. For believers, faith is not choosing to believe in something even though you lack evidence, faith is actually an internal confident persuasion that God is who he says he is. The rel...
