First Do No Harm
#FDNHPodcast is an in depth discussion with equestrian trainers and professionals dedicated to making horse training happen for the horse not to the horse. We discuss how to reduce harm in our horses training environment and how to support our horses mental, emotional and physical well being so that we have horses that enjoy learning and ask to be ridden. Each episode we discuss the different influences equestrians can have and how we can improve our horses overall athleticism, soundness of mind and body and emotional fortitude whilst strengthening and deepening our relationship.

Reactive vs responsive behaviours from our horse 07.12.2022 25:23
Some of the behaviours we see in our horse and want to "fix" our horses aren't always in control of. If our horse has a reactive behaviour to an environmental stimulus and is punished for it they learn nothing because they can't change that behaviour themselves anyway. An important part of training is watching for our horses nervous system response to our ask. Are they holding tension or rel...

Is "pushing your horse through it" working for you? 12.10.2022 28:57
A horse that can't control its emotions can't control its behaviour! A reason why we see dangerous behaviours as a result of unregulated emotions is because our horse has said no and we are taught to "push them through it" or "show them who's boss". Sometimes this works, but sometimes our horse lacks trust in our judgement if we have previously asked them to do something they aren't ready for or t...
