Encounter the Truth

Through faithful teaching of the Scriptures, we seek to facilitate encounters with the truth of God’s Word – and ultimately, with the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Truth that came down from heaven. Our prayer is that those who do not yet know Jesus will come to a saving knowledge of the truth, that believers will be grounded in the truth, and that local churches will be encouraged in their witness to the truth.

And here is a warning that is designed to keep us close to Jesus—and to unsettle any who may not be truly converted. But the comfort is that true believers are safe in Christ because God’s promise and saving action in Jesus is our sure hope, an anchor for the soul.

Our Great High Priest (Part 2 of 2) | So Great a Salvation 12.03.2021

Jewish converts might wonder if they are really safe without going to the Levitical priests at the Temple. The point here is to show that Jesus is a legitimate priest—not in the Levitical order, but in the order of Melchizedek. Jesus is the legitimate, promised priest who really is able to deal with our sin and bring us into the presence of God. We can have great confidence and comfort—and must no...

Holding Firm to the End (Part 2 of 2) | So Great a Salvation 08.03.2021

Jesus is not only greater than angels, but greater than Moses. And he offers us a promised salvation greater than that offered through Moses. But we must learn from the sinful mistakes of the Exodus generation, and not harden our hearts to God’s word—but be fearfully listening and obedient.

Putting on the Full Armour (Part 2 of 2) | The Unsearchable Riches of Christ 08.03.2021

Doing Good, Boasting Well (Part 2 of 2) | Jesus + Nothing 26.02.2021

Living as free people in the power of the Spirit, we are called to do good to those around us—and especially to those of the family of faith. (This will include the hard work of restoring a fallen brother.) And as people made free through Jesus, we are to boast exclusively in the cross of Christ, and not in law-keeping.

True Freedom (Part 2 of 2) | Jesus + Nothing 22.02.2021

There are two dangers associated with our freedom in Christ. One is that we will forfeit it as we slip into legalism and try to justify ourselves before God; the other is that we will use our freedom as a license from sin. True freedom in the gospel allows no room for either.

Honouring Christ at Home and at Work (Part 2 of 2) | The Unsearchable Riches of Christ 22.02.2021

True Children of God (Part 2 of 2) | Jesus + Nothing 16.02.2021

Through Christ, we are adopted as God’s true children. Because our standing is not based on Old Testament law, our access to God does not depend on being Jewish—and so, in Christ, all people who believe in him share in God’s promised salvation. Having this standing and this access, we can call God “Abba, Father.”
