Diving into Deep Waters

After a recent encounter I realized we seem to be more connected to a little device called a smartphone than to those around us. We lack in being present and have made ourselves accessible to everyone except those present! My goal is to make ourselves aware and hopefully stop phubbing. (Listen to find out what that means.)

Have you ever gotten hangry before??? What have we stuffed in our mouth without thought because we've gotten so hungry? Chances are we don't make the best decisions when it comes to physical food and to go a step further spiritual food leaving us full of regret. Dive in with me as we talk about the importance of not allowing ourselves to get hangry!

The very thought of letting anyone do anything that is out of our control is too much for us control freaks to process! So how does one “let them?” Inspired by a recent reel, I found myself searching my own heart and it wasn’t pretty. Join me and see how “let them” can help us walk in freedom instead of bondage.

Let’s unpack the word mantle together. It’s a term often used in the Bible to refer to anointing. I’m excited to dive into a particular Bible character who carried his mantle well and gives us some insight on how to carry ours as well.

Psalm 119 is referred to the Mt. Everest of Psalms. In part 2 we continue to conquer this chapter that is full of insight into God’s character, His word and how it applies to us in our relationship with Him!

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible. Since it’s so long it would be easy to read it mindlessly but, after being tempted to do that myself, we are going to see what we can glean from this chapter. We couldn’t dive in properly in one episode so this will be a two part episode.

My husband recently talked about Barnabus in the Bible and how he was such an encourager. A trait that seems simple but maybe a little harder to execute. This week I got to be a witness to a situation that left me humbled but encouraged in the pursuit of becoming a “Barney.” I hope to encourage you as well!

Does God have feeling? And if He does how does He deal with them? The Bible says we are made in His image so I think we can conclude that He has them but more than likely deals with them better than us! Let’s dive into scripture and follow His example.

I was raised as a kid with the Bill Gothard teachings so watching the series Shiny Happy People hit home on so many levels. In this podcast I am going to share my take on the cult that is IBLP and how digging into my past has explained so much about how I grew up. This is my story and my perspective.

I recently watched the docuseries, Shiny, Happy People and The Secrets of Hillsong. Afterwards I found myself saying enough is enough of the church covering up misconduct and leaving the victims out to dry. We have to do better. Not an easy subject but one I believe that unless we dive into it we won’t make the changes necessary to advocate and protect victims.

Recently I was sitting in a court room again and as I sat there filled with anxiety and a significant amount of emotions, I began to pray for the Judge. I prayed for Solomon’s wisdom to be shown to the judge as he heard the case and gave his ruling. Solomons wisdom was given by the Lord to have knowledge and a discerning heart something we all can learn from and apply to our lives.

Culture is setting the direction of where we are headed in so many areas of life. But does culture align with God’s word? When faced with hard decisions in life are we consulting our emotions and influenced by what the world thinks we should do or, are we consulting the Bible to give us direction to walk uprightly ? It’s been a hot minute since Erin’s husband has joined her so she thought since their 26th wedding anniversary is coming up it was a perfect time. This Easter didn’t really go as planned. But let’s be honest, holidays rarely do. As I reflected on the day I began to see some lessons that I needed to learn and I am excited to share what God taught me through the ups and downs of this Easter.

I got to experience the most fascinating thing recently…. Court! Now before you go thinking I got in trouble, I was there as a bystander. I want to share my experience and how it got me thinking about how we are guilty but someone was willing to step up to the plate and take our punishment!

Jesus was brought a women caught in the act of adultery and expected to condemn her for her sin. What is His response? He simply tunes out her accusers and tells them the only way they can stone her is if they have no sin in their lives. Talk about a mic drop! I’m excited to dive into this section of scripture with you and learn how we can become more like Jesus!

I recently was annoyed with people’s lack of saying “thank you.” Maybe I’m not the only one who feels like it’s important. Jesus had something to say about the 10 men he healed. Let’s dive into a passage of scripture most of us know but maybe there’s more to learn.

Gold starts off as a lump (called dore). Not what we think of when we think of the shiny metal that catches our eye. We also start off as a lump and it’s a process in the refiners fire to become gold. So how do we become that 24k and what do we need to allow in order for that to happen.
