DISASTERPIECE

HO HO HI YA! The boys are wrapping up our holiday season by finally watching A KARATE CHRISTMAS MIRACLE. A movie that has as much to do with Christmas as gravy, psychics, murder, the justice system, clowns, and gun rights-and is somehow about all of those things. Justin and Steve brave the cold and hit the dojo to study up and find out how the creators of a movie about karate and Christmas forgot...

It’s 1983. You’re a dumb kid who wants a weird doll. Your parents have been blinded by capitalistic rage. Some kids got what they wanted. Some adults got hurt. Some people made a buttload of money. It was THE CABBAGE PATCH KIDS RIOTS. Steve and Justin take a trip back in time to explore the moment when all of America lost its mind over a doll that looked like a dimple had a baby: the Cabbage Patch...

HO HO HO! The holidays are upon us, and the boys are cooking up a holiday feast of disasters, starting with 1985’s holiday miss, Santa Claus: The Movie. Steve and Justin head to the North Pole to figure out if it’s even possible to tell a straightforward Santa origin story. The lore is messy, the rules are obtuse, and the magic would drive a man to madness. But the real question is: how can you sp...

In the heyday of ’90s adult-themed television, gritty cop shows were everywhere, but legendary TV producer Steven Bochco was the only one brave enough to ask, “What if they also sing?” ABC’s COP ROCK is a see-it-to-believe-it Disasterpiece and easily Justin and Steve’s new favorite TV show. Join the boys as they reopen the cold case of the greatest tonal mismatch ever put on prime-time TV. Experie...

This week, the boys take you all the way to the year 3000 to face down one of the biggest, baddest Disasterpieces of all time: Battlefield Eart h. But there’s no way we’re getting into this fight without some back-up. Luckily, Adam Volerich, director of the soon-to-be melancholy Christmas classic Drink and Be Merry , and co-host of the podcast Eye Of The Duck,  is here to help Justin and Stev...

It’s a huge day for the boys as they sit down with the one-and-only VITALIY VERSACE, director of the Disasterpiece classics The Last Vampire on Earth and Born Into Mafia . From trying to understand his filmmaking philosophy to unlocking his mysterious YouTube page, Justin and Steve had a million questions for the Russian director. And their most surprising discovery is… he’s a pretty normal and ve...

Podcastin’ It’s Back! Steve and Justin return from their much-needed break to dive into one of their all-time favorite disasterpieces : DANCIN’ IT’S ON! Join the boys as they head to Panama City Beach, where, as far as they can tell, it’s illegal not to dance. This tale of star-crossed lovers marks the swan song of legendary choreographer David Winters ( Space Mutiny ), who somehow managed to run...

Steve and Justin head back to Canada to take a deep dive into RYAN’S BABE, a movie so deeply weird and captivating that its one and only review on Rotten Tomatoes sums it up better than we ever could: "This dimwitted yet bizarrely Homer-ian road trip movie gets the conventions of filmmaking so wrong that it forces you to question the value and meaning of doing it right.” Daniel Barnes This must-se...

In 1970, The Beatles released their final-and worst-studio album, Let It Be. Since then, its underwhelming title track has become associated with charity events, social causes, drunk boomer sing-alongs, and is probably the favorite song of the cringiest person you know. But in 2010, the Norwegian travel show Gylne Tider pulled off the impossible by making the song actually entertaining for the fir...

Sequel Summer comes to an end with one hell of a bang as Justin’s dad, David Dodd (iHeartRadio), joins the boys to talk about PREDATOR 2, a movie so big, brash, loud, violent, and confusing that the appearance of Gary Busey actually provides some calm and clarity. Justin, Steve, and David try to get to the bottom of some of the movie’s most pressing questions, like: “Why is the Predator in L.A.?”...

This week, the boys interrupt their regularly scheduled programming to dive into the meme-factory disasterpiece that is 2025’s War of the Worlds. Like an actual alien invasion, this Amazon ad masquerading as a “screenlife” sci-fi/horror film came out of nowhere and left a trail of devastation in its wake. Justin and Steve may never recover after enduring some of the laziest, cheapest filmmaking th...

The Disasterpiece Podcast is a year old! And we’re celebrating our big Number 1 by looking at a GIGANTIC Number 2 — BIRDEMIC 2: THE RESURRECTION Once again, we forced three-peat guest host Rollie Williams ( Climate Town ) to watch this even worse installment of James Nguyen’s climate disaster/romantic thriller trilogy. What’s the difference between the first and second Birdemic movies? Not much! H...

This week, Justin and Steve welcome Paul Ramsdell back to the podcast to talk about the original CHEERS spin-off you probably didn’t know existed: THE TORTELLIS. A show for anyone who watched CHEERS and said to themselves, “I like this, but I want to see more of the characters' ex-spouses, especially if they’re terrible people.” It’s hard to imagine anyone being able to love Nick Tortelli, or how...

The shack is back? More like "The shack is whack!" Justin and Steve head to the links for another round of Sequel Summer and tee up some very hot takes on Caddyshack II . This completely unnecessary follow-up to one of the most beloved sports comedies of the '80s forgets one important element that made the original a classic… sports! Because why should a movie called Caddyshack II have anything to...

How do you make a spin-off of one of the most popular TV shows of all time while the original is still on the air?
You show the audience what happens… at night. This week, Justin and Steve trade in their swim trunks for leather jackets and binoculars to explore BAYWATCH NIGHTS. David Hasselhoff shows us another side of everyone’s favorite lifeguard, Mitch, as he starts a beach-centric private eye...

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s... Duckie from PRETTY IN PINK?
No, wait! It’s SUPERMAN IV: THE QUEST FOR PEACE! To gear up for the release of SUPERMAN, Steve and Justin are talking about the fourth installment of the original Superman film series—and Christopher Reeve’s final flight in the world’s most famous Speedo. And who better to take the reins for the big finale than Cannon Films, who, in t...

Yes. This episode is about Stephen Baldwin, the party-boy actor who became a born-again religious grifter and the cringiest man on TikTok, and who also happens to be the worst installment in the Baldwin quadrilogy. Steve and Justin take a look at the man through his faith-based YouTube special, HEAVEN, HOW I GOT HERE: THE STORY OF THE THIEF ON THE CROSS.
They’ll discover that all it takes to chang...

This week, DISASTERPIECE celebrates the 50th anniversary of JAWS by taking a look at its worst sequel, JAWS: THE REVENGE … A movie so crazy and misguided that a shark seeking personal revenge on the Brody family is the least of its problems. Join Steve and Justin as they navigate a sea of insane decision-making that includes (but is not limited to): a magic shark that can roar, Michael Caine in sh...

Justin and Steve are here to podcast and chew bubble gum. And we’re all out of bubble gum… It’s time for DISASTERPIECE to cover their first-ever video game sequel: DUKE NUKEM FOREVER , the worst entry in a beloved—and wildly offensive—first-person shooter franchise. A game in development for so long that many of the teens who weren’t allowed to play the original had kids by the time it was release...

The weather’s getting nicer and the multiplexes are packed with IP, which can only mean one thing… It’s SEQUEL SUMMER! Justin and Steve are spending the next three months exploring some of the worst #2s of all time—starting with the infamous cult disaster: Highlander II: The Quickening . “There should have only been ONE!” pretty much sums up how the boys feel about it, especially since they got th...

What is DIVX?? It’s a super convenient way to rent movies without rentals or late fees. Simply go to Circuit City, buy a DIVX disc and DIVX DVD player, connect the player to your phone line, call to activate the disc for 48hrs, call back if you want to watch it again for a fee, call back a third time if you want to purchase your movie for an additional fee, or just go all the way back to Circuit C...

It’s high art! It’s shlock trash! It’s maybe a money laundering scheme?! It’s AFTER LAST SEASON, a true oddity of a film that manages to simultaneously be the most abstract and literal-minded movie you’ve ever seen. This week Justin and Steve meld their brains to explore the mind of filmmaker Mark Region. Not only is this director surrounded by mystery, but the boys have reason to believe he doesn...

Steve & Justin are here in NYC to shed some light on SPIDER-MAN: TURN OFF THE DARK. The multimillion-dollar Broadway musical-Disasterpiece that flopped so hard it should have killed the movie musical adaptation trend before it even started. Unfortunately, all it killed was its producer, even if it didn’t stop trying to end the lives of various cast members. Can the boys weave their way through...

We’re wrapping up CATASTANIC by going back out to sea with TITANIC II. It’s not a sequel to 1997’s TITANIC, but the creative minds at The Asylum film company sure want to trick your Nana into thinking it is. Wave goodbye to Justin and Steve as they board the maiden voyage of a ship that has less of a chance of crossing that ocean than a cruise liner made of concrete. This D-tier action thriller is...

And it en...
