2 Peter 3:13 says According to His promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. One day, all things will be made new. All the brokenness, injustice, wickedness, worldly systems of thought will dissipate, and Jesus will make all things right. As Christ followers, what does it look like to wait for that day? How does knowledge of that coming day transform the...

A heart fixed on God is free to take risks to benefit others and glorify Him, no longer ruled by the drive for self-protection and self-preeminence. In 2 Peter 3:4-9, t...

In 2 Peter 3:1-2, the apostle says he is writing the letter to stir up their sincere minds by way of reminder, that they should “remember the predictions of the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior” Peter’s plea to God’s people is that they will remember. Why? God transforms human hearts through the continual encounter with the truth of His Word. Setting our hearts on what God...

Because God is good, we can know with confidence that He will oppose evil. In 2 Peter 2:4-9, Peter warns that God will judge false teachers. How crucial it is that we guard against worldly ideologies! David Wells defines worldliness as a “system of values that displaces God and His truth from the world”, making “sin look normal and righteousness seem strange.” Embracing any way of thinking that di...
